Lumahaʻi Beach

The Lumaha'i River (ahupuha’a) is a river of northern Kauai, Hawaii, US. It begins in a narrow, high-walled valley in the central mountains and enters the Pacific Ocean on the northwestern coast of the island, just east of Wainiha, on the western edge of Lumaha'i Beach. Unaffected by development, its pristine waters contain populations of o'opu (Stenogobius hawaiiensis) and hihiwai (shellfish) as well as the Hawaiian coot. During heavy rainfall in winter and spring, it is prone to flooding. The Lumaha'i River Bridge traverses the waterway.

The Waipa Foundation is a non-profit organization which sponsors a program called ʻAina Ulu (in the Hawaiian language), funded by Kamehameha Schools. Its programs grew out of community efforts to manage the ahupuaʻa of Waipa in the late 1980s. The Waipa Foundation was established as a 501(c)3 non-profit in 1993.

Wainiha is a community section in the Hanalei district of northern Kauai. It had a total population of 419 at the 2020 census.

Halehomaha is an unincorporated community on the island of Kauai in Kauai County, Hawaii, United States. The community is located on the Pacific Ocean on the north shore of the island and is directly north of Ha'ena State Park. Halehomaha is served by Hawaii Route 560.

The Hanalei River on the island of Kauaʻi in Hawaii flows north from the eastern slopes of Mount Waiʻaleʻale for 26.5 km (16.5 mi) until it reaches the Pacific Ocean at Hanalei Bay as an estuary. With a long-term mean discharge of 216 cubic feet (6.12 cubic meters) per second, in terms of water flow it is the second-largest river in the state; although its watershed of 57 square kilometres (22 sq mi) is only sixth-largest on Kauaʻi, it encompasses areas of the highest recorded rainfall on the planet and plunges precipitously from its headwaters at 3,500 feet (1,100 m) above sea level. The lower, flatter portion of the river flows by Hanalei National Wildlife Refuge and many taro farms (60% of Hawaii's taro is grown in this area). The Hanalei River provides habitat for a number of amphidromous species, including gobies (5 native varieties), two native species of crustacean, the hīhīwai (Neritina granosa, an edible snail), and in its upper reaches, a threatened species of highly adapted snail (Newcomb's snail, Erinna newcombi). The Hanalei was designated an American Heritage River by US President Bill Clinton on July 30, 1998. The major bridge across the river (still one lane) is on Hawaii Route 560, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places listings in Hawaii.

Hanalei is a census-designated place (CDP) in Kauaʻi County, Hawaii, United States. The population was estimated at 299 as of 2019. Hanalei means "lei making" in Hawaiian. Alternatively, the name Hanalei also means "crescent bay" and may be indicative of the shape of Hanalei Bay. Hanalei can also be translated as lei valley, referring to the rainbows that color the valley and encircle Hanalei like a wreath.

The 1978 World Cup took place November 30 – December 3 at the Makai Golf Club in Hanalei in Kauaʻi County, Hawaii. It was the 26th World Cup event. The tournament was a 72-hole stroke play team event with 48 teams. Each team consisted of two players from a country. The combined score of each team determined the team results. The United States team of John Mahaffey and Andy North won by ten strokes over the Australian team of Wayne Grady and Greg Norman. The individual competition for The International Trophy was won by Mahaffey two strokes ahead of North. Greg Norman and Thailand's Sukree Onsham tied for third.

Camp Naue YMCA is a 12-acre (4.9 hectare) beachfront campground on the north shore of Kauai, Hawaii. It contains five bunkhouses (cabins), bathrooms, showers, a pavilion, a kitchen and a dining hall. It is used by visiting campers as well as local youth groups. The campground is located directly on Haena Beach. Naue literally means "to move" in Hawaiian.

Hanalei Bay is the largest bay on the north shore of Kauaʻi island in Hawaii. The town of Hanalei is at the midpoint of the bay.

The Waiʻoli Mission District at Hanalei Bay, on Route 560 along the north shore of the island of Kauaʻi, is the site of a historic mission. The first permanent missionaries to the area arrived in 1834, and the district was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.The building is known as Wai‘oli Mission House and is now a museum open to the public.

Hanalei Pier is a pier built into Hanalei Bay on the northern shore of the island of Kauaʻi in the state of Hawaii.

Fort Alexander (Russian: форт Александра) was one of the three forts built by Georg Anton Schäffer on island of Kauai in the Kingdom of Hawaii. It was named after emperor Alexander I, and built in October 1816 near Hanalei River. It was an earthwork fort.
