Wallace's Heel Well or Wallace's Heel is located beside the River Ayr (NS35502122) near the old Holmston lime kiln, Ayr, Scotland. It is a petrosomatoglyph said to represent the imprint of a heel and is associated with the story of an escape from English soldiers made by the Scottish hero William Wallace.

Kyle Academy (Scottish Gaelic: Acadamaidh a' Chaoil) is a non-denominational secondary school in Ayr, serving the south east of Ayr in South Ayrshire. The roll of Kyle Academy school in 2021–2022 was 821 with a staffing complement equivalent to 58 full time teachers. The current head teacher of Kyle Academy is Mary Byrne who took over the position of head teacher from Lyndsay McRoberts, who was also joint head teacher of nearby Ayr Academy. Kyle Academy ranked as the 33rd best state school in Scotland in 2017, and is regarded as one of the best performing secondary schools in South Ayrshire. By 2020, Kyle Academy had dropped in its ranks to the 59th best performing state school in Scotland, and in 2022 dropped further to 92nd.

West Sound (Ayrshire) was an independent local radio station based in Ayr, Scotland, originally independent, but the licence is now owned and operated by Bauer, laterally it was part of the Scottish Greatest Hits brand of stations. It broadcast to Ayrshire from an AM transmitter close to Symington on 1035Khz and on FM from the Darvel transmitter on 96.7MHz, although it originally launched on 96.2MHz. The station launched on 16 October 1981 Broadcasting initially from 7am to 8pm. At the start and end of broadcasting each day, a specially composed station theme called Mystic Waters was played. As of December 2022, the station had a weekly audience of 69,000 listeners according to RAJAR.The station rebranded from West Sound to Greatest Hits Radio Ayrshire on 3 April 2023. On 12 November 2023, it was announced that the station would cease broadcasting on medium wave before the end of the year, but would continue on DAB.

Queen Margaret Academy (Scottish Gaelic: àrd-sgoil/Acadamh banrigh Maighread) is a Roman Catholic secondary school in the south of Ayr in southwest Scotland. Established in 1856 as St. Margaret's School, Queen Margaret Academy was formed in 1966 and became a state-run school overseen by South Ayrshire Council. Queen Margaret Academy takes Catholic children aged 11 to 18 from the whole of South Ayrshire and parts of East Ayrshire.

Belmont Academy (Scottish Gaelic: Àrd-sgoil Bhelmont) is the largest secondary school in Ayr. The Academy is non-denominational and state-run by South Ayrshire Council. In 2008 the school transferred from the 48-year-old campus into a new building, which was opened to pupils in August 2008.

Newton Loch was situated in a low-lying area near Newton-on-Ayr, South Ayrshire, just south of the old South and West Sanquhar Farms. It is now (2016) only visible as remnant heath land and surface darkening in pastureland, situated mainly in the Parish of Ayr and partly in St Quivox, South Ayrshire, Scotland. The original outflow of Newton Loch was directly into the sea at Newton-on-Ayr via the Half Mile Burn and another outflow was the lade that ran down the Newton-on-Ayr Main Street to the Newton Mill or Malt Mill that was located on the bank of the River Ayr near where the New Bridge of Ayr is located.

Somerset Park (Scottish Gaelic: Pàirc Somerset) is a football stadium located in Ayr, South Ayrshire, Scotland. It has been the home of Scottish Championship team Ayr United since the club was founded in 1910. Prior to that, it was the home ground of Ayr, who merged with Ayr Parkhouse to form Ayr United. The 10,185 capacity stadium was designed by renowned football stadium architect Archibald Leitch. After an impressive season in 2017–2018 by Ayr United, debate and discussion began regarding the possibility of Ayr United being promoted to the Scottish Premiership and whether Somerset Park would be eligible for Premiership matches. It was later confirmed that under current league requirements, Ayr United would be allowed to play matches at Somerset Park with minimal improvements to its facilities should they gain promotion to the SPFL Premiership, as the more stringent seating capacity regulations had been removed some years earlier.The stadium was hosted a number of international football fixtures, mostly Scotland national football team under–17s and under–19s matches. Somerset Park was the first stadium in Britain to host the UEFA Women's Cup (now Champions League) in 2001.

Its members are Ayr United Football Club, The Ayr United Community Initiative (The Honest Men Trust), NHS Ayrshire and Arran (Community Health Partnership), Ayrshire College and South Ayrshire Council, each of which is represented by a board director. In addition there are three independent directors and an independent chairperson.
