University of Virginia School of Medicine

Barringer Mansion is a historic home located at 1404 Jefferson Park Avenue in Charlottesville, Virginia. It was built in 1894, and is a two-story, Queen Anne style brick dwelling. It features an elaborate turret with garland frieze adorning the cornice, three different styles of windows, and Jacobean chimneys. It was the home of Paul Brandon Barringer (1857-1941), noted physician, scientist, executive, and publisher who became chairman of the faculty at the University of Virginia (then equivalent to president), and later the sixth president of Virginia Tech.In 1967 a subsequent owner converted the large home into apartments. The University of Virginia Medical School Foundation purchased the property in 1981 with plans to use it as an annex to the university's medical facilities. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.It is now owned by the University of Virginia and serves as the French Language Residence for students.

The University of Virginia School of Nursing, established in 1901, is a school of nursing education. It has an enrollment of approximately 800 students (roughly half undergraduate and half graduate students), and is consistently rated in the top 4% of U.S. nursing schools. After the retirement of Dorrie K. Fontaine as the fifth dean of the School, two-term American Nurses Association President Pam Cipriano, a research faculty member at UVA for years, stepped in as interim dean in August 2019.

The George Rogers Clark Monument was a historic monument consisting of multiple figures that was formerly located in Monument Square at Charlottesville, Virginia. Erected in November 1921, the monument consisted of seven figures, by the sculptor Robert Ingersoll Aitken, presented on the same pedestal. It was the last in a sequence of four works commissioned from members of the National Sculpture Society by philanthropist Paul Goodloe McIntire during the years 1919 to 1924. The sculpture was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.The monument measured approximately 24 feet in height, 20 feet in length, and 8 feet in width. It included a tall bronze figure of George Rogers Clark mounted on a stallion in the center. The pedestal bore the inscription: "GEORGE ROGERS CLARK/ CONQUEROR OF THE NORTHWEST".The monument was removed by the University of Virginia on July 11, 2021. No immediate plan for what would be done with it was announced, although the university said it would consult with its students and members of the American Indian community of Charlottesville when deciding what to do with it.

The University of Virginia (UVA) Health System is an academic health care center associated with the University of Virginia in Charlottesville. The health system includes a medical center (with main hospital, children's hospital, and clinic network), school of medicine, school of nursing, and health sciences library. The health system provides inpatient and outpatient care and patient education and conducts medical research and education. Based in Charlottesville, the Health System also operates satellite locations throughout Virginia, in Albemarle, Amherst, Augusta, Campbell, Fluvanna, Louisa, Nelson, and Orange counties. The first medical degrees granted by UVA were awarded in 1828. The University of Virginia Hospital, designed by architect Paul J. Pelz, opened in 1901.In 1995, the maternity ward of the University Medical Center mixed up two newborn babies and sent them home with wrong parents. This was not discovered until summer of 1998 and the children ended up being raised with the unintended families. This incident has garnered international media attention for years. The UVA Health System's patient care, research and medical education are frequently ranked highly by several ranking systems. In 2016 and 2017, U.S. News & World Report ranked UVAHS as the number one hospital in Virginia.

The Corner is a seven-block collection of bars, restaurants, bookstores, and night spots on University Avenue in Charlottesville, Virginia, extending from 121⁄2 Street Southwest to Chancellor Street. located across the street from the University of Virginia. It is bounded by Graduate Charlottesville on the east and Bank of America on the west. While the university is in session, The Corner is especially active at lunchtime, when faculty, staff, and students adjourn there for the midday meal. Patrons of the Corner's sidewalk cafés can be found spending time over a good book or simply sipping coffee and people watching. Of the 67 businesses in the district, all but sixteen are locally owned, though there has been an increase in chain stores recently. The Corner is encompassed by a Charlottesville historic district, limiting redevelopment and demolition.As of 2000, The Corner had 26 restaurants, eleven bars, three coffee shops, one hotel, and one apartment building.

Anderson Brothers Building, also known as Anderson Brothers Book Store, is a historic commercial building located at Charlottesville, Virginia. The original section was built in 1848, and expanded to its present size in 1890–1891. It is a three-story, seven bay Late Victorian style building. It is constructed of brick and has a metal clad facade.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is located in the Rugby Road-University Corner Historic District.

Gardner–Mays Cottage is a historic home located at Charlottesville, Virginia. It was built in 1891, and is a one-over-one-room stucco cottage on a low foundation with an original one-room rear wing. The house is typical of the many small worker's cottages built in Fifeville.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982. It is located in the Fifeville and Tonsler Neighborhoods Historic District.

The King–Runkle House is a historic home located at Charlottesville, Virginia. It was built in 1891, and is a two-story, Late Victorian style frame dwelling with a two-story rear wing. It is sheathed in weatherboard and has a steeply pitched gable roof. The house features a simple one-story semi-octagonal bay window, ornamented porches and a projecting pavilion, and Eastlake movement gable ornamentation.It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.Now occupied by the Virginia Alpine Ski and Snowboard Team (+50,000 GNAR Points).

The Foster Site is a historic archaeological site on the campus of the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia. The site was the location in the 19th century of a homestead purchased by a free African-American woman, Catherine "Kitty" Foster. The site includes archaeological and foundational remnants of her house, an outbuilding (likely a smokehouse), a brick-lined well, and a family cemetery. Foster purchased a parcel of over 2 acres (0.81 ha) in 1833, that had originally been developed for African Americans working on the construction of the university.The site was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2016.

The McIntire School of Commerce is the University of Virginia's undergraduate business school and graduate business school for Commerce, Global Commerce, Accounting, Management of Information Technology, and Business Analytics. It was founded in 1921 through a gift by Paul Goodloe McIntire. The two-year McIntire program offers undergraduate students B.S. degrees in Commerce with concentrations in Accounting, Finance, Information Technology, Management, and Marketing. Undergraduate students at UVA apply to gain admission during their second year; upon acceptance, they enter the Commerce school at the start of their third year. Some students apply during their third year and will enter upon their fourth year (thus spending a total of five years as an undergraduate as McIntire offers a two-year program). McIntire offers five graduate programs: M.S. in Commerce, M.S. in Global Commerce, M.S. in Accounting, M.S. in Management of Information Technology, and M.S. in Business Analytics, the latter delivered in partnership with the Darden School of Business. McIntire also offers certificate programs in business for non-business students, graduates, and working professionals in academic-year residential, summer residential, and online formats.

UVA Children's Hospital is a nationally ranked, acute care children's hospital in Charlottesville, Virginia. It is affiliated with the University of Virginia School of Medicine. The hospital features 112 pediatric beds. The hospital provides comprehensive pediatric specialties and subspecialties to infants, children, teens, and young adults aged 0–21 throughout the region. The hospital also sometimes treats adults that require pediatric care. The hospital has a rooftop helipad to transport critical pediatric cases. The hospital features a regional pediatric intensive-care unit and a level IV neonatal intensive care unit.

The Memorial to Enslaved Laborers is a memorial in honor of those enslaved African Americans who built and worked at the University of Virginia, in Charlottesville, Virginia.
