Collecchio

The Battle of Collecchio-Fornovo (26–29 April 1945) was a battle of the Second World War fought between the Brazilian Expeditionary Force (Força Expedicionária Brasileira – FEB) and Italian partisans, with supporting armor attachments from the American 1st Armored and 92nd Infantry Divisions, against the retreating Axis forces of the Wehrmacht's 148th Infantry Division, 90th Panzergrenadier Division, and the fascist National Republican Army's 1st Bersaglieri "Italia" and 4th Alpini "Monte Rosa" Divisions. The battle took place around the towns of Collecchio and Fornovo di Taro, approximately 13 kilometres (8.1 mi) southwest of Parma, Italy. The Allied forces successfully enveloped and defeated the Axis troops attempting to break out to the north. On 28 April, the Brazilian 6th Regimental Combat Team launched a decisive attack on Fornovo di Taro. German General Otto Fretter-Pico surrendered the 148th Division, along with remnants of accompanying German and Fascist Italian formations comprising nearly 15,000 troops, on the morning of 29 April.

The Villa Paveri Fontana, also called Villa Dalla Rosa Prati or Santucci Fontanelli, is a rural aristocratic palace located just outside of the town of Collecchio in the Province of Parma, Italy. The villa, originally built in the 15th century, underwent refurbishment in the 17th century. The house is notable for its interior quadratura and trompe-l'œil decorations by Ferdinando Galli-Bibbiena. Near the villa a small former oratory (Oratorio della Madonna di Loreto) was erected in 1709. The grounds also have fanciful decorative architecture, such as a Baroque-style triumphal arch (Arco del Bargello) and a Triton fountain. The villa putatively holds the town library.

The Coppa Collecchio is an annual one-day cycling race held in the Collecchio commune of Province of Parma, Italy. It is organized by G.S. Virtus Collecchio. In 2020 the race was cancelled due to COVID-19 pandemic.

The Centro Sportivo di Collecchio, or Collecchio Sports Centre in English, is Parma Calcio 1913's training ground and administrative headquarters. It is located in Collecchio, a comune 15 kilometres south-west of the Stadio Ennio Tardini, the club's stadium. It opened in 1996 and replaced the old training ground in the centre of Parma: Parco Ferrari, just south of the stadium and 200 metres due east of the Cittadella di Parma. The first team trains and plays many of their home friendly matches at the complex; the main exception to this is the club's season opener, which is used to present the squad for the coming year. Parma's youth teams also train at Collecchio. It also acts as the club's headquarters. In 2018, the refounded Parma Calcio 1913 acquired the centre from the administrator of Eventi Sportivi S.p.A., the parent company of Parma F.C. for about €3 million.

The Rocca Sanvitale or Sanvitale Castle of Sala Baganza is a fortress/palatial residence located on Piazza Gramsci #1, overlooking the small town of Sala Baganza, just southwest of Parma, region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy. It is distinct from the more-visited moated castle of Rocca Sanvitale, Fontanellato. The structure was initially a walled fortress built in 1477 by Gilberto III Sanvitale. Originally the fortress had a walled internal courtyard with surrounding wings and towers, of which only a single one remains. In 1612 a putative conspiracy to depose Ranuccio I Farnese led to the execution of major feudal lords of the Duchy, including the countess of Colorno, Barbara Sanseverino, and her son Girolamo Sanvitale, the Farnese confiscated the properties of the Sanvitale family. They proceeded to refurbish his property, commissioning frescoes from Orazio Samacchini, Bernardino Campi and Cesare Baglione. Adjacent and to the North of the palace is the Assunta oratory, commissioned by Ferdinand of Bourbon in 1795. A villa surrounded by forests, located about a mile Northwest was the Casino dei Boschi, often used in the first half of the 19th century by Marie Louise, Duchess of Parma. To the south of the Rocca is a walled and geometrically traced grid of paths around a circular pool. This garden was putatively designed by Ennemond Alexandre Petitot, the architect for Phillip of Bourbon, Duke of Parma. Petitot designed this as an orchard with fruit trees. In 2009, an attempt to restore its original structure was performed, funded by the Comune of Sala Baganza, by replanting similar fruit trees to those which would have been present in the duchal orchard. The site now also houses a museum of local wine production.

The Museum of Pasta (in Italian Museo della pasta) is an Italian ethnographic museum dedicated to pasta. It is located in Corte di Giarola, between Collecchio and Ozzano Taro, in the Province of Parma, a region historically dedicated to the production and processing of pasta. The museum shares space with the Museum of Tomato (in Italian Museo del pomodoro).

Felino (Parmigiano: Flén) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Parma in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 90 kilometres (56 mi) west of Bologna and about 13 kilometres (8 mi) southwest of Parma. As of 2011 it had a population of 8,621.

The Castello di Felino or Felino Castle is a medieval manor house located on a hillside location at Al Castello Road 1 in Felino, in the province of Parma, region of Emilia Romagna, Italy; the building is home to a restaurant and the Felino salami museum.

The Ponte sul Taro or Bridge over the Taro River is a bridge along the Ancient Roman via Emilia, whose present structure still incorporates the construction from 1816 to 1821, and is located just northwest of Parma, in the neighborhood of Ponte Taro of the municipality of Noceto, Region of Emilia-Romagna, Italy.

Noceto (Parmigiano: Nozèi) is a comune (municipality) in the province of Parma in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) northwest of Bologna and about 12 kilometres (7 mi) west of Parma. The municipality of Noceto contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Borghetto, Cella, Costamezzana, Ponte Taro and Sanguinaro. Noceto borders the following municipalities: Collecchio, Fidenza, Fontanellato, Fontevivo, Medesano, Parma.

San Michele Tiorre, also known as Tiorre, is an Italian village and the major hamlet (frazione) of Felino, a municipality in the province of Parma, Emilia-Romagna. As of 2009 its population was 1,495.

Medesano (Parmigiano: Medzàn) is a comune (municipality) in the Province of Parma in the Italian region Emilia-Romagna, located about 100 kilometres (62 mi) northwest of Bologna and about 15 kilometres (9 mi) southwest of Parma. As of 31 May 2007, it had a population of 10,221 and an area of 88.8 square kilometres (34.3 mi2). The municipality of Medesano contains the frazioni (subdivisions, mainly villages and hamlets) Arduini, Ca'Bernini, Ca'Dordone, Ca'Rettori, Casa di Cura, Case Caselli, Case Faggi, Casa Matteo, Cavicchiolo, Divisione Julia, Felegara, Ferrari, Il Novellino, La Carnevala, Mezzadri, Pianezza, Ramiola, Roccalanzona, Sant'Andrea Bagni, Troilo, and Varano Marchesi. Medesano borders the following municipalities: Collecchio, Fidenza, Fornovo di Taro, Noceto, Pellegrino Parmense, Salsomaggiore Terme, Varano de' Melegari.
