Liegau-Augustusbad is a district of Radeberg, Landkreis Bautzen, Saxony. As of 2012 it had about 2000 inhabitants and is located on the Große Röder river on the northern edge of the Dresden Heath. Formerly named Liegau it was renamed Liegau-Augustusbad in 1922 to acknowledge the Augustusbad Spa in the district.

The State Museum of Zoology (German: Staatliches Museum für Tierkunde) in Dresden is a natural history museum that houses 10,000–50,000 specimens, including skeletons and large insect collections. Many are types. The collection suffered war damage and whilst catalogued the database is not computerized. Loans are possible and material can be studied in the collection. The museum publishes the scientific journal Vertebrate Zoology.

The Air War School Klotzsche (German: Luftkriegsschule Klotzsche) also known as Luftkriegsschule 1 (LKS 1) was a former Luftwaffe school in the Dresden borrow Klotzsche. The Air War School Klotzsche was built in 1935 according to the design by Ernst Sagebiel together with the architect Walter and John Krüger. The school was used during the Third Reich until it was disbanded on 5 March 1945.

The Dresden Heath (German: Dresdner Heide) is a large forest in the city of Dresden, Germany. The heath is the most important recreation area in the city and is also actively forested. Approximately 6,133 hectares of the Dresden Heath are designated as a nature preserve, making it one of the largest municipal forests in Germany by area. Though mainly agricultural areas border the forest in the east, in all other directions the Dresden Heath is bordered by districts of the city and reaches nearly to the city centre in the southwest. The forest exhibits a transition, both in its geology and in its plant and animal life, between the North German Plain and the Central Uplands. Except for small areas, the Dresden Heath is considered part of the western Lusatian Highlands and, consequently, is one of the westernmost parts of the Sudetes. Though the rocky subsoil of the forest was raised during the tectonic formation of the Dresden Basin, the mixed woodland of the heath is largely characterized by dune-like sand deposits of the Wolstonian Stage and Elster glaciation. The proximity of the Dresden Heath to the centre of Dresden led to its use as a princely hunting ground, as well as its cultivation and cultural development.

Zentrum Mikroelektronik Dresden (ZMD) was regarded as the heart of East Germany's microelectronics research in the 1980s as well as its most advanced integrated circuit manufacturer. Together with TU Dresden and VEB Spurenmetalle Freiberg, ZMD formed the foundation for Silicon Saxony, a cluster of microelectronics companies that came to include new fabs by Siemens (later Infineon Technologies) and AMD (later GlobalFoundries).

Elbe Flugzeugwerke GmbH (literally: Elbe aircraft factory, commonly abbreviated as EFW) is an aerospace manufacturer based in Dresden, Germany. It was established during 1955 as VEB Flugzeugwerke Dresden (VEB). Early projects included the licensed production of Ilyushin Il-14 airliners and the development of an indigenously developed four-engine jetliner, the Baade 152, which was terminated during the flight-testing phase following the loss of the first prototype. Between 1961 and 1990, the majority of VEB's activities centered around support and overhaul services for Soviet-designed fighters and helicopters for Warsaw Pact air forces, as well as the civil airliners of the East German airline Interflug. The company underwent drastic restructuring following the reunification of Germany in 1990, quickly becoming aligned with Deutsche Airbus. EFW is currently a joint venture between the multinational aerospace company Airbus (45%) and the Singapore-based ST Aerospace (55%) Since the end of the Cold War, the company has largely focused on servicing airliners and the conversion of passenger airliners into dedicated freighter and aerial refuelling tanker configurations. EFW is also a supplier of Airbus, producing fiber composite sheets for aircraft interiors.
