The Stephen Joseph Theatre is a theatre in the round in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England that was founded by Stephen Joseph and was the first theatre in the round in Britain. In 1955, Joseph established a tiny theatre in the round on the first floor of the Public Library.The theatre flourished and in 1976 moved to a supposedly temporary home on the ground floor of the former Scarborough Boys' High School. However, a permanent home proved difficult to find and it was not until late 1988 and the closure of the local Odeon cinema by Rank Leisure that the theatre's long-standing Artistic Director, Alan Ayckbourn, found a suitable venue. Ayckbourn launched a £4 million appeal to transform the old cinema with a view to opening it up in 1995.The new theatre, known simply as the Stephen Joseph Theatre, opened in 1996 and comprises two auditoria: The Round, a 404-seat theatre in the round, and The McCarthy, a 165-seat end-on stage/cinema. The building also contains a restaurant, shop, and full front-of-house and backstage facilities. The Round boasts two important technical innovations: the stage lift, facilitating speedy set changes, and the trampoline, a Canadian invention which allows technicians particularly easy access to the lighting grid. It is also the place where the image used for the cover of Richard Hawley's album Coles Corner was taken.

Scarborough, formerly Scarborough Central, is a Grade II listed railway station serving the seaside town of Scarborough, North Yorkshire. It lies 42 miles (68 km) east of York and is one of the eastern termini on the North TransPennine route; it is managed by TransPennine Express. The station is also at the northern end of the Yorkshire Coast line and is reputed to have the longest station seat in the world at 456-foot (139 m).From 1907 until 2010, the station approaches were controlled from a 120-lever signal box named Falsgrave; this is sited at the outer end of platform 1 and close to the former excursion station at Scarborough Londesborough Road. In its final years, Falsgrave box controlled a mixture of colour-light and semaphore signals, including a gantry carrying 11 semaphores. The signal box was decommissioned in September 2010 and the gantry was dismantled and removed in October 2010. Its new home is at Grosmont railway station, on the North Yorkshire Moors Railway. The new signalling is a relay-based interlocking with two- and three-aspect LED signals controlled from an extension to the existing panel at nearby Seamer. Simplification of the track layout and major renewals took place at the same time.

Albemarle Baptist Church is a Grade II listed church located on Albemarle Crescent, central Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It was designed in the Gothic Revival style by the Bradford architect Henry Francis Lockwood, and opened in 1867.

The Borough of Scarborough () was a non-metropolitan district with borough status in North Yorkshire, England. In addition to the town of Scarborough, it covered a large stretch of the coast of Yorkshire, including Whitby and Filey. It bordered Redcar and Cleveland to the north, the Ryedale and Hambleton districts to the west and the East Riding of Yorkshire to the south. The district was formed on 1 April 1974, under the Local Government Act 1972. It was a merger of the urban district of Filey and part of the Bridlington Rural District, from the historic East Riding of Yorkshire, along with the municipal borough of Scarborough, Scalby and Whitby urban districts, and Scarborough Rural District and Whitby Rural District, from the historic North Riding. In 2007, the borough was threatened with extinction. In March of that year, North Yorkshire County Council was shortlisted by the Department for Communities and Local Government to become a unitary authority. If the bid had been successful then the Borough of Scarborough would — along with all other districts and boroughs in the present county of North Yorkshire — have been abolished then. The bid, however, was unsuccessful and the districts remained as they were previously constituted. However, in July 2021 the Ministry of Housing, Communities and Local Government announced that in April 2023, the non-metropolitan county would be reorganised into a unitary authority. Scarborough Borough Council was abolished and its functions were transferred to a new single authority for the non-metropolitan county of North Yorkshire.

The Brunswick Shopping Centre, with over 30 shops, is in the centre of Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It was built on the site of a former Debenhams store, which was an anchor tenant until its closure in May 2021. It has an annual footfall of approximately 7 million people.

Scarborough Art Gallery is an art gallery in the English town of Scarborough. It is housed in a Grade II* Italianate villa in Scarborough’s Crescent, designed by Richard Hey Sharp (1793–1853). The gallery is administered by the Scarborough Museums Trust and is open to the public. Its permanent collection has been developed over the past seventy years through gifts, bequests and purchases.

Valley Bridge is a road bridge in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It spans Ramsdale and was built in 1865.It was first built as Lendal Bridge, York, but it collapsed there and was later brought to Scarborough.

Radio Scarborough is an FM community radio station broadcasting to the town of Scarborough, England on 107.6 FM. Prior to the granting of its FM licence and subsequent launch on 23 September 2021, the station had been broadcasting exclusively online since 2013.

Scarborough () is a seaside town in the district and county of North Yorkshire, England. With a population of 61,749, Scarborough is the largest town on the Yorkshire Coast and the fourth-largest settlement in the county.It is located on the North Sea coastline. Historically in the North Riding of Yorkshire, the town lies between 10 and 230 feet (3–70 m) above sea level, from the harbour rising steeply north and west towards limestone cliffs. The older part of the town lies around the harbour and is protected by a rocky headland which extends into the North Sea. The town has fishing and service industries, including a growing digital and creative economy, as well as being a tourist destination. Residents of the town are known as Scarborians.

The Opera House Casino is a casino located in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. It took three years to build and was expected to employ about 110 people, when it opened in October 2005. The casino was a £7 million development funded by the Shaw family, headed by Nikolas Shaw and was the biggest entertainment investment in Scarborough for over thirty years. It was the first privately funded casino in the UK since the gambling laws were amended by the Gambling Act 2005.The casino is some 23,000 square feet (2,100 m2) in size. On opening it was reported to have eleven gaming tables, twenty electronic gambling terminals and the same number of slot machines, and a number of bars. It holds Texas Hold'em Poker tournaments in one of its bars where up to 55 players can be seated.The casino broke British records by signing up over 5,000 members before it had even opened.

Gallows Close goods yard was a freight transfer yard on the Scarborough and Whitby Railway in the town of Scarborough, North Yorkshire, England. The yard was opened in 1899 to relieve pressure on the main station in Scarborough and to release space for passenger use. After the Scarborough and Whitby Railway closed down, Gallows Close remained in use as a goods yard until final closure came in 1985.

The Church of St Columba is a Church of England parish church in Scarborough, North Yorkshire. The church was designed by the architect Temple Moore (1856–1920), but was built from 1924 to 1926 by his son-in-law Leslie Thomas Moore. It is a grade II* listed building.The church stands on an irregularly shaped plot, and the buildings has been built to this. The chancel is located in the north-east corner rather than the usual liturgical east. It has a triangular lady chapel. The floor plan of the church has been described as bird-like.As of 2024, St Columba's is united with St James with Holy Trinity Church, Scarborough as the benefice of Scarborough Saint Columba and Saint James with Holy Trinity. The parish is in the Archdeaconry of The East Riding of the Diocese of York.
