Grindon is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Grindon and Thorpe Thewles, in the Stockton-on-Tees district, in the ceremonial county of Durham, England. The civil parish population at the census 2001 was 2,603 reducing to 2,484 at the 2011 Census. It is situated between Sedgefield and Stockton-on-Tees, near to Thorpe Thewles and Thorpe Larches. The place name of "Grindon" is derived from the word 'dun', which meant hill. Grindon is situated in the Upland Fells, formed of Carboniferous millstone grit. "The alternating strata of harder and softer rocks give a stepped profile to many dale sides and distinctive flat-topped summits to the higher fells."

Holy Trinity Church was a now demolished church in the village of Thorpe Thewles, County Durham, England. It was built in 1848–49 to replace an isolated church on a different site which had been dedicated to Thomas à Becket. The Thomas à Becket church is now in ruins and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building. It is also a scheduled monument.Holy Trinity Church was designed by the Lancaster architects Sharpe and Paley at an estimated cost of £600, and could seat 175 people. It measured 68 feet (20.7 m) by 23 feet 6 inches (7.2 m) but by the 1880s it was suffering from decay and damp, and was demolished.It was replaced on the same site in 1886–87 by the present church, dedicated to St James. This church is a Grade II listed building.

Thorpe Thewles is a village which had history dating back to the 12th century. The village shares a parish with Grindon and is in the Borough of Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, Northern England. It lies near the A177 road between Stockton-on-Tees and Sedgefield.

It is situated a few miles (several km) to the north-west of Stockton-on-Tees, a short distance from the village of Redmarshall.

Thorpe Larches is a small hamlet in County Durham in North East England, situated between Sedgefield and Stockton-on-Tees. There are approximately 21 buildings, 19 of which are houses, and the other two a car garage and a packaging warehouse. The hamlet has around 60 residents. Wynyard, sometimes known as Wynyard Hall, is a large English country house near Stockton-on-Tees in County Durham. The house was the English family seat of the Vane-Tempest-Stewart family, Marquesses of Londonderry, an Anglo-Irish aristocratic dynasty, until it was sold to Sir John Hall in 1987.

Whitton Bridge Pasture is a Site of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) in the unitary authority of Stockton-on-Tees, England. At 3.18 hectares (7.9 acres) it lies to the south of Whitton village and north west of Stockton-on-Tees. SSSIs are chosen by Natural England, and Whitton Bridge Pasture was designated in 2004 because of its biological interest. It is one of 18 SSSIs in the Cleveland area of search. The biological interest is focused on the species-rich mesotrophic grassland found across the site, which is actively maintained by grazing. The species present are predominantly grasses, although herbs and orchids are also found. The area has been classified as MG5 under the British National Vegetation Classification because of the species composition. The site is small and isolated, and therefore requires careful management to avoid damage caused by activity on neighbouring land.

Whitton is a village and former civil parish, now in the parish of Stillington and Whitton, the borough of Stockton-on-Tees and the ceremonial county of Durham, England. It is situated to the north west of Stockton-on-Tees, near Stillington and Thorpe Thewles.

Outwood Academy Bishopsgarth (formerly Bishopsgarth School) is a comprehensive secondary school with academy status in the Bishopsgarth area of Stockton on Tees, England. It has a mixed intake of both boys and girls, ages 11–16, and had 537 pupils on roll in January 2017.The school is operated by Outwood Grange Academies Trust, and the current principal is Sheriden Hutchinson-Jones. Ralph Pickles is the current chair of governors.

Hardwick is a west Stockton-on-Tees area in the borough of Stockton-on-Tees, County Durham, northern England. It is where North Tees Hospital is situated. The Hardwick ward had 6,881 population in the 2011 census.It is bordered by Harrowgate Lane to the north west, Roseworth to the east and Bishopsgarth and Elm Tree Farm the south. The University Hospital of North Tees (formerly North Tees General Hospital) is in the area. From 2003–2012, 200 houses in the area were demolished and replaced. There are a number of community based associations including Hardwick in Partnership which will run the community centre from 2014, Phoenix Youth Service and Hardwick Residents association.

Wynyard railway station was a railway station on the Castle Eden branch of the North Eastern Railway (NER) from 1880 to 1931. It was located immediately to the south of the bridge carrying the Hartlepool to Sedgefield road (now part of the A689) and served little more than a few scattered hamlets, including Embleton and Swainston. Despite its name, the station was poorly situated for Wynyard Park which was better served by the neighbouring station at Thorpe Thewles.
