Petit Wasmes

Wasmes (French pronunciation: [wam]; Walloon: Wame-e-Borinaedje) is a village of Wallonia and a district of the municipality of Colfontaine, located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. In January 1879 Vincent van Gogh temporarily moved to the village, in the hamlet of Petit Wasmes, to take up a post as missionary.

The Borinage (French pronunciation: [bɔʁinaʒ]) is an area in the Walloon province of Hainaut in Belgium. The name derives from the coal mines of the region, bores, meaning mineshafts. In French, the inhabitants of the Borinage are called Borains. The provincial capital, Mons, is located in the east of the Borinage, but there was a great sociological difference between the inhabitants of Mons and the Borains of the villages around Mons.

Boussu (French pronunciation: ​[busy]; Picard: Boussu-dlé-Mont) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. As of January 1, 2006, Boussu had a population of 20,058. The total area is 20.01 km², which gives a population density of 1,002 inhabitants per km². The municipality consists of the following districts: Boussu and Hornu.

The Major Mining Sites of Wallonia is a UNESCO World Heritage Site comprising four sites in Wallonia in southern Belgium associated with the Belgian coal mining industry of the 19th and 20th centuries. The four sites of the grouping, situated in the French-speaking Hainaut Province and Liège Province, comprise Grand-Hornu, the Bois-du-Luc, the Bois du Cazier and Blegny-Mine.

Grand-Hornu is an old industrial coal mining complex and company town (cité ouvrière) in Hornu (Boussu), near Mons, in Belgium. It was built by Henri De Gorge between 1810 and 1830. It is a unique example of functional town-planning. Today it is owned by the province of Hainaut, which houses temporary exhibitions in the buildings. It is one of the four industrial sites which were listed by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site in 2012.

Saint-Ghislain Abbey (French: Abbaye de Saint-Ghislain) was a monastery founded by Saint Ghislain around 650, located in Wallonia on the Haine (Hainaut, Belgium). It became a Benedictine monastery around 940, when reformed by Gérard of Brogne, and was suppressed in 1796.

Saint-Ghislain (French pronunciation: [sɛ̃ ɡilɛ̃] ; Picard: Saint-Guilagne; Walloon: Sint-Guilin) is a city and municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. On 1 January 2018 the municipality had 23,335 inhabitants. The total area is 70.18 square kilometres (27.10 sq mi), giving a population density of 333 inhabitants per square kilometre (860/sq mi). The municipality consists of the following districts: Baudour, Hautrage, Neufmaison, Saint-Ghislain, Sirault, Tertre et Villerot.

Colfontaine (French pronunciation: [kɔlfɔ̃tɛn] ; Walloon: Colfontinne; Picard: Colfontinne) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. On 1 January 2006, the municipality had 20,021 inhabitants. The total area is 13.62 km2, giving a population density of 1,470 inhabitants per km2. The municipality consists of the following districts: Pâturages, Warquignies, Wasmes (town centre; it includes the village of Petit Wasmes).

Quaregnon (French pronunciation: [kaʁɲɔ̃]; Picard: Couargnon; Walloon: Cargnon) is a municipality of Wallonia located in the province of Hainaut, Belgium. On 1 January 2018 Quaregnon had a total population of 19,006. The total area is 11.08 km2 which gives a population density of 1,716 inhabitants per km2. The municipality consists of the following districts: Quaregnon and Wasmuel.

Saint-Ghislain Airfield (French: Aérodrome de Saint-Ghislain) (IATA: N/A, ICAO: EBSG) is a recreational airfield located in the Walloon municipality of Saint-Ghislain, province of Hainaut, Belgium. Privately managed, the aerodrome is home to two active flight schools, and to other aeronautical oriented leisure activities, such as vintage aircraft restoration, skydiving or amateur aircraft building. A modernization was completed in 1992, including hard-surfacing of the single runway.
