Siege of Zoutleeuw

The Saint Leonard's Church (Dutch: Sint-Leonarduskerk) in Zoutleeuw, Belgium, stands on the former site of a Romanesque chapel erected in 1125 by Benedictines from Vlierbeek Abbey near Leuven. Construction of the present church began around 1231, and additions continued into the 16th century. Rendered mainly in the Gothic style, the building in its oldest parts shows traces of the Romanesque architectural style. The two heavy square towers flanking the west facade are connected with each other by means of a gallery over the nave. The slender central tower, octagonal in cross-section, contains a carillon with 24 bells. In 1999, UNESCO included the towers and church as part of the World Heritage Site Belfries of Belgium and France.Few, if any other medieval churches in Belgium remain in such an excellent state of preservation as St. Leonard's, which stayed clear of the widespread iconoclasm during the Protestant Reformation. It also survived the French Revolution intact, because three canons took an oath of allegiance to the French regime. The interior thus offers an authentic glimpse of how the churches of Brabant were furnished centuries ago.

Zoutleeuw (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌzʌu̯tˈleːu] (listen); French: Léau [leo]) is a municipality and city in the Hageland, in the extreme east of the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. On 1 January 2018 the municipality had 8,498 inhabitants. The total area is 46.73 km2, giving a population density of 182 inhabitants per km2. The name Leeuw means "lion", to which Zout ("salt") was added from the 16th century in recognition of the town's right to levy a salt tax. In 1999, UNESCO included the historical St. Leonard's Church as part of the World Heritage Site Belfries of Belgium and France.

Halle-Booienhoven is a section of the municipality of Zoutleeuw, in the province of Flemish Brabant, Belgium. It was a municipality in its own right before the merger of the municipalities in 1977.

The Château de Duras (Castle of Duras) in Duras, a half hour walk to the north of Sint-Truiden in Belgium, is built in the Classical style . This Belgian castle was built between 1787 and 1789 and is located in a beautiful area. The castle was built on the location of the original castle of the Counts of Duras, which was built in 1102. It was Otto of Looz, count of Duras and “sous-avoué” of Sint-Truiden, who by his marriage to Ode, the only daughter and heiress of Giselbert, count of Duras, adopted the name and the coat of arms of the counts of Duras and ordered to build the castle in that year. One of his two sons, named Giselbert in honor of his maternal grandfather, married the daughter and heiress of Conon, count of Montaigu and Clermont, and of Ide, the sister of the famous Godfrey of Bouillon, the first king of Jerusalem.The castle grounds cover an area of more than 100 ha, consisting of woods, meadows, fields and orchards. It also includes a watermill and a farm. It is now a protected monument.

Geetbets (Dutch pronunciation: [ˌɣeːdˈbɛts]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns of Geetbets proper, Grazen and Rummen. On January 1, 2006, Geetbets had a total population of 5,765. The total area is 35.17 km2 which gives a population density of 164 inhabitants per km2.

Linter (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈlɪntər]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns of Drieslinter, Melkwezer, Neerhespen (where the canine school of the Belgian police is situated), Neerlinter, Orsmaal-Gussenhoven, Overhespen and Wommersom. On January 1, 2006, Linter had a total population of 7,037. The total area is 36.38 km² which gives a population density of 193 inhabitants per km². The main economic activities of Linter are agricultural and commercial activities.

Stayen is a football stadium in Sint-Truiden, Belgium. It is the home ground of STVV. The stadium holds 14,600 after its most recent rebuild.The original stadium was built in 1927. The name "Stayen" is a local dialect word for "Staden", an old quarter of the town on its western side. Between the 1950s and 2009 the word was normally written as "Staaien". One regularly applied soubriquet is "Hel van Stayen" ("Hell of Stayen"), used on behalf of top teams that suffer defeats in the stadium. The Stayen Hotel is built into the north side of the stadium: 20 of its rooms overlook the pitch. From February 2023, the Japanese company "Daio Wasabi Farm" acquired the naming rights of the stadium, and named it "Daio Wasabi Stayen Stadium". This is the first time in history for a Belgian league that a Japanese company has acquired the naming rights for a stadium.

Velm (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈvɛl(ə)m], Limburgish: Vallem [ˈvɑləm]) is one of the ancienne communes in the municipality of Sint-Truiden, Limburg province, Belgium. Velm is bounded in the east by the N80 motorway, leading to Namur, and in the west by the railroad from Sint-Truiden to Landen.

Peten Castle (also: Castle Peten-Van Halen) is a 19th-century castle in Velm (Sint-Truiden), Belgium.

Sint-Truiden railway station (Dutch: Station Sint-Truiden French: Gare de Saint-Trond) is a railway station in the town of Sint-Truiden, Limburg, Belgium. The station opened on 2 April 1838 and is located on line 21. The train services are operated by National Railway Company of Belgium (NMBS). Sint-Truiden used to be located on 23 (Drieslinter-Tongeren). The current station dates from the 1970s and replaced a building dating from 1882 which was demolished in 1975. In 2005, the station and its surrounding area was modernized. Extra bike parking was created.

Kortenaken (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈkɔrtənaːkə(n)]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Flemish Brabant. The municipality comprises the towns of Hoeleden, Kersbeek-Miskom, Kortenaken proper, Ransberg and Waanrode. On January 1, 2014, Kortenaken had a total population of 7,881. The total area is 49.06 km² which gives a population density of 160,63 inhabitants per km². Every year in August there used to be a three-day festival in Kortenaken, named Boerenrock, with electro music on Friday, rock music and a party on Saturday, and on Sunday music aimed at children and their parents. The final edition of this festival took place in 2016.

Gingelom (Dutch pronunciation: [ˈɣɪŋəˌlɔm]) is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Limburg. On 1 January 2006 Gingelom had a total population of 7,847. The total area is 56.49 km2 (21.81 sq mi) which gives a population density of 139 inhabitants per km2 (359/sq mi). The municipality includes the old municipalities of Borlo, Buvingen, Jeuk, Montenaken, Niel-bij-Sint-Truiden, Mielen boven Aalst, Muizen, Boekhout, Vorsen and Kortijs.
