St Allen

Zelah is a village in Cornwall, England, United Kingdom, approximately 5 miles (8.0 kilometres) north of Truro. Zelah is the largest settlement in the civil parish of St Allen. The parish population in the 2001 census was 435.

Idless (Cornish: Edhelys, meaning place of aspen trees) is a hamlet north of Truro in Cornwall, England. The River Allen rises north of St Allen and flows southwards through the Idless Valley into Truro. It is in the civil parish of Kenwyn. The manor of Idless was recorded in the Domesday Book (1086) when it was held by Algar from Robert, Count of Mortain. There was one hide of land and land for 6 ploughs. Algar had one third of a virgate with 3 ploughs and 4 serfs. 4 villeins and 7 smallholders had the rest of the land. There were 40 acres of woodland, 2 square leagues of pasture, 23 sheep and 7 goats. The value of the manor was 15 shillings though it had formerly been £2 sterling.There was a military firing-range beside nearby St Clement's Wood, known as "Idless Range", just north of the present-day Penmount Crematorium, which was still in use by at least the local army cadets for Lee-Enfield live-firing in the late 1950s.

The Tresillian River is a tributary of the River Fal in Cornwall. It rises in the Clay Country and is fed by springs between Summercourt and Mitchell. It runs south-west, alongside the B3275, through Ladock to Tresillian, where it passes under the A390 road bridge, then immediately opens into a tidal estuary, and passes the village of St Clement, before joining the Truro River at Malpas. Tresillian was a seaport until the head of the creek silted up. Tresillian Bridge was the site of the surrender of the Hopton forces (Royalist troops of King Charles) to Parliamentarians on 10th March 1646.The western bank of the river has a public footpath from Tresillian to Malpas. The eastern bank is part of the privately owned Tregothnan estate.At St Clement, the river is flanked by Tresemple Pool, a shallow saline lake. The lake and the river together are popular sites for viewing kingfisher, redshank, avocet, greenshank, red-breasted merganser, curlew, little egret and grey heron. and grey heronEarly records give the river the name "Seugar" (1297) or "Sowgar" (1530); the meaning of this name is unknown. Others consider Tresillian to be an anglicisation of Cornish "Sulyen's farm/settlement".

The village has a pub, the Old Plough Inn, a post office and school. Allet (Cornish: Ales) is a hamlet one mile west of Shortlanesend on the B3284 Truro to Chiverton Cross road. The name was recorded as Aled in 1284. The Cornwall Wildlife Trust is based at Allet: its headquarters and offices are adjacent to the Trust's Five Acres nature reserve. This reserve includes two ponds, as well as mixed broadleaved woodland.

The Convent of the Epiphany, Truro, Cornwall, UK, was the home of the Community of the Epiphany (1883–2001). The founder of this community was George Wilkinson, Bishop of Truro.
