Old Fort Johnson is a historic house museum and historic site at 2 Mergner Road (junction of New York State Routes 5 and 67) in Fort Johnson, New York. It is the site of Fort Johnson, a two-story stone house originally enclosed in fortifications built by Sir William Johnson about 1749. The fort served as Johnson's home, business office and trading center until 1763 when he moved to Johnson Hall in what is now Johnstown, New York. Sir William's son Sir John Johnson owned the house from 1763 until 1776, when it was confiscated by the local Committee of Safety. The house remains and is owned and operated as a museum by the Montgomery County Historical Society. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1972.

Kayaderosseras Creek also called Kaniatarósera'as Stream is a river located in Montgomery and Fulton counties in the state of New York. The creek begins southeast of Johnstown and flows in a generally southeast direction before converging with the Mohawk River by Fort Johnson, just west of Amsterdam. Kaniatarósera'as Stream, is a Mohawk name which translates to "waves splashing".

Fort Johnson (formerly known as Akin) is a hamlet and former village in Montgomery County, New York, United States located on the north side of the Mohawk River in the town of Amsterdam. The population was 490 at the 2010 census.

Amsterdam City Hall is a historic city hall complex located in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York. The complex includes the former Sanford Mansion, laundry building, and carriage house. The Sanford Mansion was built in 1869 as the home of Stephen Sanford, an industrialist, rugmaker and philanthropist. The mansion was deeded to the city for use as a city hall upon the death of John Sanford in 1932. As the city hall, the original house was expanded considerably with a three-by-ten-bay addition, completed in the early 20th century.The former Sanford Mansion is a 3-story, brick Classical Revival building designed by Albert W. Fuller which was extensively remodeled in 1913–1917. It features a massive portico with six fluted columns topped by Corinthian order capitals. The former laundry house is a simple 1+1⁄2-story brick building with a slate-covered gable roof. The former carriage house was built about 1869. Some landscape features dating to the 1917 remodeling remain on the property.Amsterdam City Hall was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2001.

Amsterdam station is an Amtrak train station in Amsterdam, New York. It is served by two daily Empire Service round trips plus the daily Maple Leaf; the Lake Shore Limited does not stop. In earlier eras, such as the postwar 1940s, no named trains from west of Syracuse stopped there.Amsterdam station has a small unstaffed brick station building, with one low-level side platform on the north side of the two tracks.

The Schoharie Creek Bridge was a New York State Thruway (I-90) bridge over the Schoharie Creek near Fort Hunter and the Mohawk River in New York State. On April 5, 1987, it collapsed due to bridge scour at the foundations after a record rainfall. The collapse killed ten people. The replacement bridge was completed and fully open to traffic on May 21, 1988.The failure of the Schoharie Creek Bridge motivated improvement in bridge design and inspection procedures within New York and beyond.

Fort Hunter is a hamlet in the Town of Florida in Montgomery County, New York, United States, west of the capital at Albany, on the south bank of the Mohawk River and on the northeast bank of Schoharie Creek. The hamlet, developed around a fort of the same name, was built by English colonists in 1712 near the Mohawk village of Tionondoroge for their defense. Queen Anne ordered the fort built at the request of the Mohawk, in exchange for their allowing her to settle German Palatines in their territory. The English called the Mohawk settlement the Lower Mohawk Castle. Within a few years, the fort included an Anglican chapel, first built in logs and replaced by a stone church in 1741. It was a mission church for the Mohawk in addition to English settlers. The fort survived the wars in the region; it was taken down in 1820 to make way for construction of the Erie Canal.

Guy Park, also known as Guy Park State Historic Site or Guy Park Manor, is a house built in 1774 in the Georgian style for Guy Johnson, the Irish-born nephew and son-in-law to Sir William Johnson, 1st Baronet, the British Superintendent for Indian Affairs in colonial New York. Built of limestone, the house was originally situated on a square mile of land on the north side of the Mohawk River and near it for access to water transportation.

The Guy Park Avenue School is a historic school building located at 300 Guy Park Avenue in Amsterdam, Montgomery County, New York. It was built in 1902 and is a two-story, square brick building on a raised stone foundation. It features a round arched entrance portal of cast stone and a triangular pediment highlighted by an oculus and wag ornamentation. It ceased use as a school in 1968. From 1968 to 2001 it housed the Walter Elwood Museum, with exhibits about local history and culture. The museum later moved to the nearby Guy Park mansion, also a historic site. The old school is now an apartment building. The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Schoharie Crossing State Historic Site, also known as Erie Canal National Historic Landmark, is a historic district that includes the ruins of the Erie Canal aqueduct over Schoharie Creek, and a 3.5-mile (5.6 km) long part of the Erie Canal, in the towns of Glen and Florida within Montgomery County, New York. It was the first part of the old canal to be designated a National Historic Landmark, prior to the designation of the entire New York State Barge Canal as an NHL in 2017.

Tribes Hill is a census-designated place (CDP) located in the Towns of Mohawk (80%) and Amsterdam (20%) in Montgomery County, New York, United States. The population was 1,003 at the 2010 census. One theory is the name is based on this location having been a gathering spot for the Mohawk nation, the dominant Iroquois tribe in the area during colonial times. Tribes Hill spans the border of the Town of Mohawk and Town of Amsterdam, approximately five miles west of the City of Amsterdam on Route 5.
