Central Dauphin East High School

The Central Dauphin School District is a large, suburban, public school district located in suburban Harrisburg, Pennsylvania serving students in central and eastern Dauphin County. It is the largest school district in the county, the largest in the greater Harrisburg metropolitan area and is the 9th largest school district in Pennsylvania. The district serves the Boroughs of: Dauphin, Paxtang and Penbrook as well as Lower Paxton Township, Middle Paxton Township, Swatara Township and West Hanover Township. It was created in 1954, combining four smaller districts. The Central Dauphin School District encompasses approximately 118 square miles (310 km2). According to 2000 federal census data, it served a resident population of 83,750. By 2010, the district's population increased to 90,442 people. The educational attainment levels for the Central Dauphin School District population (25 years old and over) were 91.8% high school graduates and 30.4% college graduates.According to the Pennsylvania Budget and Policy Center, 39.3% of the district's pupils lived at 185% or below the Federal Poverty level as shown by their eligibility for the federal free or reduced price school meal programs in 2012. In 2009, Central Dauphin School District residents' per capita income was $23,896, while the median family income was $56,338. In Dauphin County, the median household income was $52,371. By 2013, the median household income in the United States rose to $52,100.High school students may choose to attend Dauphin County Technical School for training in the construction and mechanical trades. The Capital Area Intermediate Unit IU15 provides the district with a wide variety of services like specialized education for disabled students and hearing, speech and visual disability services and professional development for staff and faculty. Central Dauphin School District contracts Krise Transportation to operate its main transportation system & Boyo Transportation and Sweger Bus Lines for special services. The prior contractor was Durham School Services. At one point in the early 2000's the district had its own fleet and employees before deciding to contract out its transportation services.

It is a suffragan diocese of the metropolitan Archdiocese of Philadelphia. The mother church is St. Patrick's Cathedral in Harrisburg. Pope Pius IX erected the diocese on March 3, 1868. As of 2023, the bishop of the Diocese of Harrisburg is Timothy C. Senior.

Bishop McDevitt High School is a private, Roman Catholic, co-educational high school in Lower Paxton Township, Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded in 1918 as "Catholic High School" in Harrisburg and renamed in 1957 to honor the memory of the Most Reverend Philip R. McDevitt, fourth bishop of Harrisburg and founder of the school.It is located in the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg.

Colonial Park is an unincorporated community and census-designated place (CDP) in Lower Paxton Township, Pennsylvania, United States. The population was 13,229 at the 2010 census. It is part of the Harrisburg–Carlisle Metropolitan Statistical Area. It uses the Harrisburg ZIP code of 17109 and hosts a great deal of the area's retail activity, including the Colonial Park Mall.

Chambers Hill is a community in Swatara Township in Dauphin County, Pennsylvania. It is located in the area between 40 degrees 15'41 North and 76 degrees 48'42 West, between Harrisburg and Hershey. With ranges in elevation from 415–660 feet a view of the Harrisburg skyline to the west, or Three Mile Island to the south, can often be seen. The aroma of cocoa is often in the air when the wind comes in from the Hershey's Chocolate World to the east. The area is bounded by U.S. Route 322 to the north and Pennsylvania Route 283 to the West. Routes 83, 81, 11, 15 and the Pennsylvania Turnpike are within a five-minute drive. Swatara Creek bounds the hill to the east, and Lower Swatara Township and Strites Orchard provide the boundary to the south. The area is served by one elementary school (Chambers Hill Elementary, K-5, part of Central Dauphin School District), policed by the Swatara Township Police department, and protected from fire by the Chambers Hill Fire Company (Box 456).

Colonial Park Mall is a shopping mall in Lower Paxton Township, Pennsylvania, about 3 miles (4.8 km) NE of Harrisburg. Located at the northeast corner of U.S. Route 22 and Colonial Road in the Colonial Park CDP just east of Interstate 83 and south of Interstate 81, it serves the eastern and northern suburbs of the Harrisburg metropolitan area. The mall's anchor store is Boscov's. There are 2 vacant anchor stores that were once The Bon-Ton and Sears.

The Circle School is a self-directed democratic school located in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania and founded in 1984, and is operated similarly to the Sudbury Valley School (Framingham, Massachusetts) and Hudson Valley Sudbury School (Kingston, New York). It enrolls pre-kindergarten through high school aged children. The Circle School currently has approximately 80 students enrolled and 6 full-time staff members. It is one of three Sudbury-like schools in Pennsylvania and one of the oldest in the world.

The population was 4,303 at the 2010 census, an increase over the figure of 3,859 tabulated in 2000. It is part of the Harrisburg–Carlisle Metropolitan Statistical Area.
