Eide Church (Agder)

Eide is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. It is currently located within the municipality of Grimstad in Agder county. The municipality of Eide existed from 1838 until 1962. The 32.4-square-kilometre (12.5 sq mi) municipality included 29.2 square kilometres (11.3 sq mi) of land on the mainland and the rest being nearly 70 small islands off the Skaggerak coast. The larger islands include Auseøya, Homborøya, and Ålesøya. The administrative centre was the village of Eide where the Eide Church is located. Other villages in Eide included Jortveit and Homborsund.

Jortveit is a village in Grimstad municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located in the Homborsund area in Eide in southern Grimstad. The village of Homborsund lies just south of Jortveit and the Eide Church lies about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) west of the village. The 0.62-square-kilometre (150-acre) village area (including neighboring Homborsund) has a population (2016) of 662 which gives the village area a population density of 1,068 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,770/sq mi).

Østerhus is a village in Grimstad municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located near the Skaggerak coast, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) south of the town of Grimstad. Østerhus Church is located in the village. There is a large industrial area in Østerhus.

Nørholm, also called Nørholmen, is a manor house and agricultural property on 185 hectares (460 acres) in the municipality of Grimstad in Agder county, Norway. The estate is known mostly because of one of its previous owners was Nobel Prize-winning author Knut Hamsun.

Homborsund Lighthouse (Norwegian: Homborsund fyr) is a coastal lighthouse located on the island Store Grønningen in the municipality of Grimstad in Agder county, Norway. It sits about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) southeast of the village of Homborsund in the Eide area. It was established in 1879, and is listed as a protected cultural site. Homborsund Lighthouse was constructed the same year as Lyngør Lighthouse, and the two stations have similar designs. The station includes a livinghouse for two families, outhouse, boathouse and pier, in addition to the light. The light was automated in 1992, and the station was de-populated. Today it is open to the public for overnight stays and guidance. The surrounding area is a protected bird sanctuary.The 20.1-metre (66 ft) tall, white, square-shaped tower has a red top. The light on top sits at an elevation of 22.3 metres (73 ft) above sea level. The light can be seen for up to 14.5 nautical miles (26.9 km; 16.7 mi). The 3rd order Fresnel lens on top emits a continuous white light with four brighter flashes every 60 seconds. The light has an intensity of 58,500 candela, but during the brighter flashes, the light reaches an intensity of 423,900 candela.

Tjore is a village in Grimstad municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located on the southern shore of the Landvikvannet lake, just north of the European route E18 highway. The village lies about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) to the west of the village of Østerhus, about 3.5 kilometres (2.2 mi) south of the village of Roresand, and about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) southwest of the town of Grimstad.

Helldal is a village in Lillesand municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the Norwegian County Road 420 and the Kaldvellfjorden, about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) northeast of the town of Lillesand. Access to the European route E18 highway is just south of Helldal.

Reddal is a village in the municipality of Grimstad in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the western part of the municipality in the Landvik area, about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) west of the town of Grimstad and about 5 kilometres (3.1 mi) southeast of the small village of Nygrenda. The main industry in the village is agriculture, with the most important products being potatoes, berries and grain. The large lake Syndle lies just north of the village. The freshwater Reddalsvannet lake is located along the south side of the village area. There is a protected nature reserve at the lake. In order to gain additional farmland in Reddal, a canal was built in 1877 to lower the lake's water level by 4 metres (13 ft). This lowered the water down to sea level. The Reddal Canal (Norwegian: Reddalskanalen) connects the Reddalsvannet lake and the nearby Landviksvannet lake to the sea. Today, the canal is popular with small boats.

Landvik is a former municipality in the old Aust-Agder county in Norway. The 190.7-square-kilometre (73.6 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1971. The municipality's area is now located in the western and central part of the present-day municipality of Grimstad. The administrative centre was the village of Roresanden, just up the hill from the Landvik Church. Other villages in Landvik include Molland, Reddal, Skiftenes, Tjore, and Østerhus. Today, the name Landvik is still used to designate the westernmost part of the municipality of Grimstad, near the Prestegårdskogen housing development.

Saltholmen Lighthouse (Norwegian: Saltholmen fyrstasjon) is a lighthouse in Lillesand municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located on a small island off the coast about 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) southeast of the town of Lillesand. There has been a lighthouse here since 1882. The island (and lighthouse) are named Saltholmen (lit. "Salty Islet"). This name comes from the salt extraction industry established by Hans Nielsen Hauge that once was located there. The lighthouse is only accessible by boat and the site is open, but the building is not open to the public.

Landvik Church (Norwegian: Landvik kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Grimstad Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is just south of the village of Roresand in the Landvik area. It is the church for the Grimstad parish which is part of the Vest-Nedenes prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1824 using plans drawn up by an unknown architect. The church seats about 400 people.
