Bankstown

Bankstown railway station is located on the Bankstown line, serving the Sydney suburb of Bankstown. It is served by Sydney Trains T3 Bankstown line services.

Bankstown City Library and Information Service was a library service in Sydney. Bankstown situated in the south-west of Sydney, Australia. Part of Bankstown City Council, the library service includes the Central Library, located in Bankstown Central Business District, and four branch libraries Chester Hill, Greenacre, Padstow and Panania.

The City of Bankstown was a local government area in the south-west region of Sydney, Australia, centred on the suburb of Bankstown, from 1895 to 2016. The last mayor of the City of Bankstown Council was Clr Khal Asfour, a member of the Labor Party. A 2015 review of local government boundaries by the NSW Government Independent Pricing and Regulatory Tribunal recommended that the City of Bankstown merge with the City of Canterbury to form a new council with an area of 110 square kilometres (42 sq mi) and support a population of approximately 351,000. On 12 May 2016, the NSW Government announced that Bankstown would merge with the City of Canterbury to be known as the City of Canterbury-Bankstown.

Bankstown Central (previously known as Centro Bankstown and Bankstown Square) is a shopping centre in the suburb of Bankstown in South Western Sydney.

Bankstown Girls High School is a government-funded single-sex comprehensive secondary day school for girls, located in Bankstown, a south-western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Established in 1959, the school enrolled approximately 550 students in 2018, from Year 7 to Year 12, of whom less than one percent identified as Indigenous Australians and 97 percent were from a language background other than English.

The Al-Rasool Al-A'dham Mosque (Arabic: مسجد الرسول الاعظم, romanized: Masjid Al-Rasool AlAdham) is a Shia Islam mosque located in Bankstown, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The mosque is supervised by Ayatollah Mohammad Hussein al-Ansari. The mosque generally promotes Shi'a teachings and is attended almost exclusively by Shi'a worshipers.

St Euphemia College is an independent Greek Orthodox co-educational prep, primary and secondary day school, located in Bankstown, a south-western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Named in honour of Saint Euphemia, the College commenced on 30 January 1989 with 29 students from Kindergarten to Year 3. It is registered as a charity with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission.

Bankstown Oval (also known as Bankstown Memorial Oval) is a multi-purpose stadium located in Bankstown, a south-western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It is currently used mostly for cricket matches and has been used by New South Wales, particularly for one day matches. It has also hosted 4 first class games in the Sheffield Shield. Its pavilion is named after Australian Test batsmen Steve Waugh and Mark Waugh, who both appeared for the Bankstown District Cricket Club. It hosted a Women's Ashes test on England's 2002/3 tour and again in January 2010. The ground has also been used for local AFL matches. The stadium currently has a capacity of 8,000 people. In the 1940s and 1950s it was the home ground of Bankstown Soccer Club, the predecessor to Bankstown City FC.

LaSalle Catholic College is an independent Roman Catholic comprehensive co-educational secondary day school, located in Bankstown, a south-western suburb of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The De La Salle Brothers run the college in the tradition of Saint John Baptist de La Salle. The college provides a Catholic and general education for students from Year 7 to Year 12, with oversight provided by the Catholic Education Office of the Archdiocese of Sydney.

McLeod Reserve is a park situated along the Hume Highway in Bankstown, New South Wales, Australia.

The Punchbowl Maintenance Depot was a train storage and maintenance depot in the south-western Sydney suburb of Punchbowl. The depot opened in 1923 and was one of four electric train depots built under the Bradfield electrification plan, the other depots being at Mortdale, Flemington and Hornsby. Punchbowl was the first electric train depot to have a carriage washing plant installed, in 1959. A newer enclosed washing plant replaced the original one in 1986 and similar plants were also installed at the other three depots. The depot formerly stabled and maintained trains used on the Bankstown and East Hills lines. By the early 1990s Punchbowl was considered "in the middle of nowhere" due to the expansion of Sydney's population to the west and south-west and Punchbowl was no longer near the terminus of the lines it served, adding to operational difficulties and inconvenience. Punchbowl Maintenance Centre closed in February 1995 after the last single-deck carriages were withdrawn in November 1993. Responsibility for its Tangaras was transferred to Mortdale, and responsibility for other double-deck cars was transferred to Flemington. The site lay closed and derelict for several years, before being demolished. The former area is now known as The Waterford Estate while a park called Sidings Park has been established in the middle of the estate as an interpretation of the site's previous use.

Bankstown Reservoir is a heritage-protected water tower and a local landmark situated in the suburb of Bankstown, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. Located 22 kilometres (14 mi) west of Sydney CBD, the reservoir is elevated and was built on reinforced concrete piers, which is one of the oldest of this type that is still in use. The reservoir features various decorative attributes, plastered by hand, which lack in other functional reservoirs. Established in 1920, the reservoir serves a large area of South-Western Sydney.
