Ferris House is an historic building in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, located at 1318 Arch Street in the Central Northside neighborhood of Pittsburgh. It was once the home of George Washington Gale Ferris Jr., who designed and constructed the original Ferris Wheel for the World's Columbian Exposition of 1893. The street address was 204 Arch Street at the time of his residency.

The House at 200 West North Avenue in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was built in 1890 in the Queen Anne style. The house was likely built for Jasper M. Porter the Secretary/Treasurer of the Savage Fire-Brick Company. He owned the property until 1903. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986.

The Mexican War Streets, originally known as the "Buena Vista Tract", is a historic district in the Central Northside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, in the United States. The district is densely filled with restored row houses, community gardens, and tree-lined streets and alleyways. The area dates to around the time of the Mexican–American War.

Malta Temple (also known as the Salvation Army Building) located at 100 West North Avenue in the Central Northside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was built in 1927. The building was once the home of a fraternal order called the Order of Malta. It then became a Salvation Army building. In a 5 to 2 decision, the Pittsburgh Planning Commission voted to save this building from demolition in 2008. The building was added to the List of City of Pittsburgh historic designations on August 5, 2008.

City of Asylum (more formally City of Asylum/Pittsburgh) is a nonprofit organization based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, that houses writers exiled from their countries for their controversial writing. It provides them with free housing, health care and access to social services and resettlement in the United States. Their expanded mission involves the Alphabet City venue, Sampsonia Way magazine, and organizing Jazz Poetry Month in Pittsburgh. Henry Reese and Diane Samuels founded Pittsburgh's City of Asylum in 2004. The organization has a community-based model, with the hopes of integrating the exiled writers into the United States. Exiled writers accepted to the program are granted up to four years of housing. It also gives financial and medical support for their families for two years, giving them ample time and means to adjust to life in the United States.In November 2016, it became the US headquarters for the International Cities of Refuge Network (ICORN). It was also described as a “model for the world.” City of Asylum hosts more than 175 cultural and literary events every year which are free to the public. In 2017, the organization would repurpose an old masonic lodge into their main headquarters called Alphabet City.

The Garden Theater (or Garden Theatre) is a 1,000-seat theater that was built in 1915 at 12 West North Avenue in the Central Northside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, USA. Formerly a movie theater, it closed in 2007 and has not been in use much since that time, except for a scene in the movie adaptation of One for the Money starring Katherine Heigl filmed in July 2010. The city of Pittsburgh hopes to revitalize the theater, and it was placed on the List of City of Pittsburgh historic designations by the Pittsburgh City Council on March 25, 2008.

Brown Chapel A.M.E. Church located at 1400 Boyle Street in the Central Northside neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, was built in 1903. This African Methodist Episcopal Church was added to the List of Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmarks in 1988.

The National Aviary, located in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, is the only independent indoor nonprofit aviary in the United States. It is also the country's largest aviary, and the only one accorded honorary "National" status by the United States Congress.The aviary is home to more than 500 birds representing more than 150 species, and is a member of the Association of Zoos and Aquariums (AZA).

Triangle Tech is a for-profit system of technical schools with multiple locations in Pennsylvania. It offers 16-month programs for an Associate in Specialized Technology Degree in various technologies. Triangle Tech was founded in Pittsburgh in 1944 and now has six locations across Pennsylvania, including Pittsburgh, Greensburg, DuBois, Sunbury, Chambersburg, and Bethlehem. The school is licensed by the State Board of Private Licensed Schools and the Pennsylvania Department of Education and is accredited by the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges.

The Allegheny High School in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania is a building from 1904. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1986. Notable graduates include William N. Robson, award-winning writer, director, and producer from the old-time radio era and Dorothy Mae Richardson, an African American community activist whose work was essential to the founding of the Neighborhood Reinvestment Corporation. American novelist Willa Cather taught English and Latin at Allegheny High School, where she came to head the English department. The building is now the Pittsburgh Allegheny 6-8, a magnet school located in the North Side.

Allegheny Commons is a municipal park located in Pittsburgh's North Side. The park surrounds the neighborhood of Allegheny Center. Dating to 1867, it is the oldest park in the city of Pittsburgh.
