Manchester Historic District (Manchester, Connecticut)

The Cheney Brothers Historic District was a center of the silk industry in Manchester, Connecticut, in the late 19th and early 20th century. The 175-acre (71 ha) district includes over 275 mill buildings, workers houses, churches, schools and Cheney family mansions. These structures represent the well-preserved company town of the Cheney Brothers silk manufacturing company, the first America-based silk company to properly raise and process silkworms, and to develop the difficult techniques of spinning and weaving silk. The area was declared a National Historic Landmark in 1978.

Manchester Memorial Hospital is a 249-bed community hospital located in central Manchester, Connecticut, an eastern Connecticut community about 10 minutes east of Hartford. The hospital opened in 1920, and was dedicated as a memorial to all Manchester residents who died during the First World War. In 1970, the hospital was rededicated as a memorial to veterans of all wars. The hospital operates a family medicine residency training program for newly graduated osteopathic physicians.

The Lutz Children's Museum is a non-profit children's museum located in Manchester, Connecticut, United States. Originally known as the Lutz Junior Museum, it was developed on March 4, 1953 by a vote of the Manchester Parent Teacher Association (PTA) Council. Their objective was to "provide supplemental enrichment to students in their classrooms and ask the community to come forth with ideas."

The Pitkin Glassworks Ruin is a historic industrial archaeological site at the junction of Parker and Putnam Streets in Manchester, Connecticut. It contains the remains of one of the oldest glass factories in New England, established in 1783. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

The Union Village Historic District encompasses the core of a historic 19th-century residential mill village in Manchester, Connecticut. Radiating north and west from the junction of Union Street and North Main Street, the area was developed in the first half of the 19th century has a company town, but evolved into a mixed working-class community in the 20th century. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2002.

Hilliard Mills is a historic mill site located at 642 Hilliard Street in Manchester, Connecticut, west of Adams Street. The property consists of six buildings comprising roughly 104,000 square feet of space, spread over five acres at the confluence of the Bigelow Brook and Hockanum River. Hilliard Mills is listed on the State of Connecticut Register of Historic Places.

The Woodbridge Farmstead is a historic house at 495 Middle Turnpike East in Manchester, Connecticut. Built about 1835, it is a well-preserved example of a Greek Revival farmhouse, with a history of ownership by a single family extending over more than 150 years. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1999.

Founded in 1963, it is the third-oldest of the twelve community colleges governed by the Connecticut State Colleges & Universities system (CSCU) and has graduated more than 23,000 students since the first class in 1965. MCC is the largest of the state's community colleges, serving more than 15,000 students a year, with nearly 6,000 undergraduate students in credit programs, and more than 7,000 credit-free and 2,000 credit extension students each year. It has an annual budget of more than $31 million. In 1996, MCC was named an "Honor Institution" by the Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation due to its "remarkable history of nurturing and encouraging students' academic and intellectual abilities and motivation." The college remains the only American community college to have been recognized as such.MCC is accredited by the New England Commission of Higher Education.
