Washburn Rural High School

Auburn–Washburn USD 437 is a public unified school district headquartered in Topeka, Kansas, United States. It serves Southern and Southwestern Shawnee County, as well as a small portion of extreme northern Osage County. It serves Southwestern and Western portions of the city of Topeka, as well as the communities of Pauline, Montara, Auburn, and Wakarusa. It has one primary school, one intermediate school, seven elementary schools, one middle school, and one high school.

Lake Vaquero is a private lake located two blocks southwest of Topeka, Kansas, and about three blocks northwest of Lake Sherwood (Kansas). It is a manmade lake contained by a 33 ft (10 m) high dam on its southwest. It is bounded by Indian Hills Road on the east, El Cerrito Drive on the south, Lagito Drive on the west and SW 29th Street on the north. If filled to the dam's brim, the lake would have a 340-acre (1,400,000 m2) capacity. It normally has a 306-acre (1,240,000 m2) capacity.Lake Vaquero was built in the early 1960s. It has always been a lake and over the years residences have been built around it. Today, it is completely surrounded by houses. Periodically the lake has been dredged, because runoff from nearby construction and fields has resulted in the lake bottom being covered in silt. In 2010, the lake's owners, represented by the Vaquero Lake Club, faced costly upgrades to the dam to increase the safety of persons and property downstream from it.Being a private lake, Vaquero Lake Club members enjoy boating, fishing and swimming at the beach on Lake Vaquero.

Pauline is an unincorporated community in Shawnee County, Kansas, United States. Located south of Topeka, it lies next to Forbes Field on southwest Topeka Boulevard. It is occasionally seen as part of the South City Industry Park for Topeka with its many large businesses.

The Combat Air Museum is a non-profit aviation museum at Topeka Regional Airport (Forbes Field) in Shawnee County, near Topeka, Kansas. The museum is dedicated to the creation of facilities and resources for the education of the local and regional communities through the collection, preservation, conservation and exhibition of aircraft, information, artifacts, technology and art associated with the military aviation history of the United States.

Heartland Motorsports Park, formerly known as Heartland Park Topeka, is a multi-purpose motorsports facility 8 miles (13 km) south of downtown Topeka, Kansas near the Topeka Regional Airport. It operated from 1989 until its closure in 2023.
