Exposition Park, Dallas

Fair Park station is a DART Light Rail station located in Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. It serves the Green Line. The station opened on September 14, 2009 as one of four original stops on the line. Fair Park contains the largest collection of Art Deco exhibition buildings in the world, built for the 1936 Texas Centennial Exposition. The station was designed to blend into the surrounding architecture while revitalizing the historic entrance into Fair Park. During important events during the State Fair of Texas, Fair Park station is served by "special event" trains from the Red Line and Blue Line.

Fair Park is a recreational and educational complex in Dallas, Texas, United States, located immediately east of downtown. The 277-acre (112 ha) area is registered as a Dallas Landmark and National Historic Landmark; many of the buildings were constructed for the Texas Centennial Exposition in 1936. Fair Park has been designated a Great Place in America by the American Planning Association.

Gaston Park was a baseball park located in Dallas, Texas. Named for landowner William H. Gaston, the ballpark existed within the State Fair grounds in the vicinity of Texas and Pacific rail tracks as well as the Music Hall at Fair Park in Dallas. The field was also used for the Red River Rivalry in 1912 and 1914. Oklahoma beat Texas 21–6 in 1912 while the Longhorns beat the Sooners 32–7 in 1914. The A&M College of Texas, as it was then known, beat Baylor University there on Thanksgiving Day 1912 by score of 53–0. Early newspaper reports of Texas League baseball games were stated as "at the fair grounds".

The Music Hall at Fair Park (originally the Fair Park Auditorium or State Fair Auditorium) is a performing arts theater in Dallas, Texas's Fair Park that opened in 1925. The building is of Spanish Baroque style with Moorish architectural influences, containing six stair towers capped with cast domes and arcade porches overlooking Fair Park. Air conditioning was added in 1954, and in 1972 the Hall was remodeled again with an expanded lobby and restaurant. In 1999 the theater was refurbished and updated. Because of the spacious nature of the Music Hall, the facility is a nationally recognized venue for Broadway musical touring companies and other large-scale public and private functions. The Music Hall is currently home to the Dallas Summer Musicals and was home to the Dallas Opera from 1957 to 2009.

The Women's Museum: An Institute for the Future was a museum located inside Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. On October 5, 2011, the museum announced it would close on October 31, 2011, due to lack of funds.

Big Tex is a 55-foot (17 m) tall figure and marketing icon of the annual State Fair of Texas held at Fair Park in Dallas, Texas. The figure has become a cultural icon of Dallas and Texas. Since 1952 Big Tex has served as a cultural ambassador to visitors, and the figures prime location in the fairgrounds serves as a traditional meeting point. On October 19, 2012, the last weekend of the 2012 State Fair of Texas, Big Tex was destroyed by an electrical fire that started in the right boot and worked its way up the structure, first becoming visible from the neck area. After the fire, a new Big Tex was created by SRO Associates and Texas Scenic Co. This rendition made its first public appearance on September 26, 2013.Big Tex donned a mask in September 2020 while the fair was on hiatus because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

African American Museum is an American art museum located at 3536 Grand Avenue in Fair Park, Dallas, Texas. The museum was founded in 1974 and has operated independently since 1979. The 7 million dollar structure which is now its home, was funded through private donations, and a 1985 Dallas city bond election, which provided 1.2 million towards its construction. The 38,000-square-foot (3,500 m2) structure, built in the shape of a cross, is made of ivory-colored stone. Natural materials and design motifs are used throughout the museum in a manner reminiscent of pre-industrialized cultures of the African continent.

The Power Station is a not-for-profit contemporary art space in Exposition Park, Dallas. It is housed in a former Dallas Power & Light building which was constructed in 1920, and hosts large scale exhibitions which complement the building's raw architecture. For each of its international exhibitions, The Power Station works with the artists to produce a publication in conjunction with their project. Its programming also includes a summer exhibition and additional events each year. The building includes an apartment where artists can live as they create and build their installations. "The building and garden relate to one another gently through the careful manipulation of crisp architectural elements that are then intentionally eroded by more informal, lush plant material."

The Hall of State (originally the State of Texas Building) is a building in Dallas's Fair Park that commemorates the history of the U.S. state of Texas and is considered one of the best examples of Art Deco architecture in the state. It was designed and built for the Texas Centennial Exposition.

The 1966 NFL Championship Game was the 34th NFL championship, played at the Cotton Bowl in Dallas, Texas. It was the final game of the 1966 NFL season. It determined the champion of the National Football League (NFL), which met the champion of the American Football League (AFL) in Super Bowl I, then formally referred to as the first AFL–NFL World Championship Game. The Western Conference champion Green Bay Packers (12–2), defending league champions, were hosted by the Dallas Cowboys (10–3–1), the Eastern Conference champions. At the time, the home field for the NFL Championship Game alternated between the two conferences; even-numbered years were hosted by the Eastern and odd-numbered by the Western. Starting with the 1975 season, playoff sites were determined by regular season record, rather than a rotational basis. The New Year's college bowl game at the Cotton Bowl for the 1966 season included the SMU Mustangs of Dallas. It was played the day before, New Year's Eve, which required a quick turnaround to transform the natural grass field. The stadium was filled to its 75,504 capacity for both games, but both local teams came up short.

Dallas Trinity FC is an American women's soccer club based in Dallas, Texas. It will be a member of the USL Super League, a Division I league operated by the United Soccer League, and is scheduled to debut in August 2024.

The Cotton Bowl is an outdoor stadium in Dallas, Texas, United States. Opened in 1930 as Fair Park Stadium, it is on the site of the State Fair of Texas, known as Fair Park. The Cotton Bowl was the longtime home of the annual college football post-season bowl game known as the Cotton Bowl Classic, for which the stadium is named. Starting on New Year's Day 1937, it hosted the first 73 editions of the game, through January 2009; the game was moved to AT&T Stadium in Arlington in January 2010. The stadium also hosts the Red River Showdown, the annual college football game between the Oklahoma Sooners and the Texas Longhorns, and formerly, the First Responder Bowl. The stadium has been home to many football teams over the years, including: SMU Mustangs (NCAA), Dallas Cowboys (NFL; 1960–1971), Dallas Texans (NFL) (1952), Dallas Texans (AFL; 1960–1962), and soccer teams, the Dallas Tornado (NASL; 1967–1968), and FC Dallas (MLS; as the Dallas Burn 1996–2004, as FC Dallas 2005). It was also one of the nine venues used for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. As of 2022, it is the largest stadium by capacity in the United States without a professional or college team as a regular tenant. It became known as "The House That Doak Built," due to the immense crowds that SMU running back Doak Walker drew to the stadium during his college career in the late 1940s.In their seventh season, the Cowboys hosted the Green Bay Packers for the NFL championship at the Cotton Bowl on January 1, 1967. The college bowl game that year included SMU and was played the day before, New Year's Eve, which required a quick turnaround to transform the field. The two games were filled to its 75,504 capacity, but both home teams lost to the visitors. Artificial turf was installed in 1970 and removed in 1993 in preparation for the 1994 FIFA World Cup. The elevation of the playing field is approximately 450 feet (140 m) above sea level.
