Ovenden Moor Wind Farm

Warley Moor Reservoir, also known as Fly Flatts Reservoir, is a drinking water reservoir in West Yorkshire, England, owned and operated by Yorkshire Water.Completed in 1872, the reservoir was built by the engineer John Frederick La Trobe Bateman. The first sod was cut on 20 May 1864, by the then Mayor of Halifax, William Holdsworth, who used a silver spade with the inscription: Halifax Corporation – The first sod of the Warley Moor Reservoir was turned with this spade, on Friday, the 20th May, 1864, by William Irving Holdsworth, Esq., Mayor of Halifax; J. F. Bateman, Engineer; John Parkinson and Joseph Mann, contractors; J. E. Norris, Town Clerk The reservoir covers 68 acres (28 ha), is 45 feet (14 m) deep when full and holds up to 193,000,000 imperial gallons (880,000,000 L). It was notably described in Whiteley Turner's 1913 book A Spring-Time Saunter: Round and About Bronte Land.The reservoir is used by Halifax Sailing Club. It is also famous for being the reservoir Tommy Lee Royce cycled to in Series 3 of the BBC show Happy Valley.

Wainstalls is a village in the unparished area of Halifax, in West Yorkshire, England. The area is rural and much of the area is farmland. Wainstalls is in the HX postcode area and in the HX2 postcode district and the Luddendenfoot ward of Calderdale Council. The area contains Wainstalls School, where Hannah Cockroft, a British paralympian who won two golds at The London 2012 Paralympic Games, studied.The two pubs in Wainstalls are The Crossroads Inn and The Cat-I-th'Well.Wainstalls currently has a factory right in the centre which currently homes Heights (UK) Ltd. In the late nineteenth century, the mill owner, James Calvert, arranged for 250 orphans from Liverpool to come and work in his mill. According to a local historian they were well-treated and descendants of them still live in the area. They became known as the Wainstall waifs. In the 1970s the factory had been home to confectionery makers John Mackintosh Ltd.

Mixenden is a village in Calderdale, on the outskirts of Halifax in the county of West Yorkshire, England. The name Mixenden derives from the Anglo Saxon 'mixen' (compost or dung heap) and 'den' usually refers to pasture land, usually for pigs. During the 1970s, after the building of tower blocks in Mixenden, social problems and unemployment led to a tarnished reputation. Although much has been done to regenerate the area, its isolation from other neighbourhoods and its position, 3 miles (5 km) north-west of Halifax, continues to contribute to a social separation from the rest of Calderdale. At one time like many other villages it boasted of 3 pubs, a nightclub, 3 fish and chip shops, numerous family businesses including a butcher's, a baker's, a newsagent's, a grocer's, a garage with petrol, a doctors' surgery, a library and two factories, two churches and two schools. Not many of these are left and the one remaining pub, the Crown and Anchor, closed in 2010 and was later converted into cottages. Currently in Mixenden there is a primary school split across two sites, three newsagents with off licences, one launderette, one fish and chip shop, two pizza/Indian takeaways, one Chinese takeaway, two sandwich shops, a library, a council-funded activity centre and a doctors' surgery (Caritas Group Practice Mixenden). There are also numerous public children's play areas that are maintained by Calderdale Council. To the north-west of the village is a large reservoir that is maintained by Yorkshire Water. As of January 2017, The councillors for the Mixenden Ward are Clr Barry Collins, Clr Lisa Lambert and Clr Daniel Sutherland.

Mount Tabor is a hamlet in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England, named after the biblical Battle of Mount Tabor mentioned in the Book of Judges. It is situated approximately 3 miles (5 km) north-west from Halifax town centre. The hamlet is in the Warley ward of Calderdale. The hamlet is served by buses from Halifax bus station. A post box in the hamlet is painted gold, to commemorate one of Hannah Cockroft's 2012 Summer Paralympics gold medals. The author Whiteley Turner lived in Mount Tabor.

Worth Valley is a ward in the City of Bradford Metropolitan District Council, West Yorkshire. The population of the ward taken at the 2011 Census was 14,387. It is named after the River Worth that runs through the valley to the town of Keighley where it joins the River Aire. In the north it is bounded by North Yorkshire, in the west by Lancashire and in the south by Calderdale District.

Oxenhope is a village and civil parish near Keighley in the metropolitan borough of Bradford, West Yorkshire, England. It was historically part of the West Riding of Yorkshire. The population was 2,476 at the time of the 2001 census which had increased to 2,626 at the 2011 Census. Oxenhope railway station is the terminus for the Keighley and Worth Valley Railway.

Luddenden is a district of Calderdale 3.1 miles (5 km) west of Halifax on the Luddenden Brook in the county of West Yorkshire, England.

Ogden in West Yorkshire, England, is a small hamlet 5.0 miles (8 km) north of Halifax. The hamlet falls within the Calderdale Ward of Illingworth and Mixenden. Its most recognisable landmarks are Ovenden Moor wind farm, which can be seen from as far as 35 miles (56 km) away on a clear day, a golf course, which offers views of the surrounding moorland; and Ogden reservoir, around which are footpaths for visitors to walk and view the local wildlife.

Oxenhope railway station serves the village of Oxenhope, near Haworth, and within the City of Bradford Metropolitan District of West Yorkshire, England. It is the terminus of the Keighley & Worth Valley Railway, with trains to Haworth and Keighley.

Midgley () is a hill-top village in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England. It is situated approximately 12 miles (20 km) east from Burnley and 4 miles (6 km) west-north-west of Halifax, and just north of the A646 road. Nearby villages are Mytholmroyd 1 mile (1.6 km) to the west-south-west, and Hebden Bridge 2.5 miles (4.0 km) to the west-north-west. The village is part of the Luddendenfoot ward of the Metropolitan borough of Calderdale, part of the Metropolitan county of West Yorkshire.Midgley has a social committee to arrange events such as open gardens, village fetes, parties, quiz nights and wine tasting. A previous Co-op store has been refurbished to become a shop and community room staffed by volunteers; it opened in February 2010. Local primary education is provided by Midgley School.

Denholme is a town and civil parish in the Bradford Metropolitan Borough, West Yorkshire, England. It is 8 miles (13 km) west of Bradford, 7 miles (11 km) from Keighley and roughly the same distance from Halifax. Administratively, it is part of the Bingley Rural ward of the City of Bradford. Denholme has a population of 2,976, increasing to 3,489 at the 2011 Census.

Fountainhead is a hamlet in Calderdale, West Yorkshire, England, built on the old site of the Webster's Brewery at the turn of the 21st century. It is situated approximately 2 miles (3 km) north-west from Halifax town centre. The hamlet is in the Warley ward of Calderdale. Founded in 2004, developer David Wilson Homes started developing a new sustainable village on the brownfield site. Completed in 2018 with over 300 houses and an estimated population of 800, it has one public house, Long Can Hall, which has been used for filming Last Tango in Halifax.The Maltings College opened in 2013 and offered a range of vocational sixth form courses until its closure in 2018. The former site was a nursery school until its closure in 2018. Subsequently, Trinity Multi Academy Trust took over the building as its administrative head office and training centre. The village has two parks and backs onto Ovenden Wood and has beer-themed names for roads, such as Cask Court, Maltings Road, and Golding Hop Close. The former professional rugby league footballer Wilf George lives in the village. The hamlet is served by buses from Halifax bus station. The disused Halifax High-Level Railway skirts the northern end of the village, with the Signal View development area built on the site of the old Maltings Brewery Goods Yard.
