Worthing Downland Estate

Cissbury Ring is an 84.2-hectare (208-acre) biological Site of Special Scientific Interest north of Worthing in West Sussex. It is owned by the National Trust and is designated a Scheduled monument for its Neolithic flint mine and Iron Age hillfort.Cissbury Ring is the largest hill fort in Sussex, the second largest in England and one of the largest in Europe overall, covering some 60 acres (24 hectares). The earthworks that form the fortifications were built around the beginning of the Middle Iron-Age possibly around 250 BC but abandoned in the period 50 BC - 50 AD. The site of the fort contains a Neolithic mine, one of the first flint mines in Britain. Around 270 shafts were dug into Cissbury hill over around 300 years of use. Shafts were up to 12 metres (39 ft) deep with 7 metres (23 ft) diameters at the surface. Up to eight galleries extended outwards from the bottoms of the shafts, often interconnecting with one another. The site has been damaged by illicit metal detecting.

Cissbury is an electoral division of West Sussex in the United Kingdom, and returns one member to sit on West Sussex County Council.

Bohunt School Worthing (BSW) is an 11–16 mixed secondary school with academy status in Worthing, West Sussex, England. It was established in September 2015 and is part of the Bohunt Education Trust. The school opened as part of the change of age of transfer arrangements in Worthing, which saw an end to three-tier education in the town.

Worthing Golf Club is a golf club on the South Downs at Worthing, England. Located close to the Iron Age hill fort of Cissbury Ring in the new South Downs National Park, the club comprises two links golf courses, a 6 hole academy course, a driving range, practice area, two putting greens and a clubhouse. The club enjoys panoramic views both of the South Downs and the English Channel. The club was formed in 1905 and its first course, designed by six times Open Championship-winner Harry Vardon was opened in 1906 by Vardon and five-times Open Championship-winner James Braid.After the First World War, the course was redesigned by golf course designer Harry Colt, who created two courses, a lower and upper course. The lower course lies mostly in the valley, while the upper course lies across the ridges. The clubhouse is the original Warren farmhouse.

Findon Valley is a neighbourhood of Worthing, in the borough of Worthing in West Sussex, England. It lies on the A24 road 2.9 miles (4.7 km) north of the town centre. The settlement of Findon Valley is named after the dry valley through the South Downs on which it lies. Like other dry downland valleys, Findon Valley was created during the last ice age when chalk that was being frozen prevented water from seeping downwards through the chalk. In summer, streams of melting ice would flow down off the Weald across the Downs, creating the dry valleys such as Findon Valley.The settlement of Findon Valley is bordered to the west and east by land in the South Downs National Park. To the west, it is bordered by parkland and downland known as 'the Gallops' and to the east by the steep slopes of Mount Carvey which forms part of the Worthing Downland Estate and to the north-east the prehistoric site of Cissbury. It is separated from the village of Findon by a strategic gap - also part of the South Downs National Park. Findon Valley was built from the 1930s to 1950s, with its library having been built in 1958. It is also home to the Vale School, All Saints Parish Church, Findon Valley Free Church and a parade of shops. Notable former residents of Findon Valley include the composer Charles Williams.

Worthing United Football Club is a football club based in Worthing, England. Established in 1988 by a merger of Wigmore Athletic and Southdown, they are currently members of the Southern Combination Division One and play at the Robert Albon Memorial Ground.

Offington is a neighbourhood of Worthing, in the borough of Worthing in West Sussex, England. It lies on the A2031 road 1.6 miles (2.5 km) northwest of the town centre. Today, the area is a residential suburb of Worthing. Offington was part of the parish of Broadwater and became part of the borough of Worthing in 1902. It is possibly best known for its large manor house, which survived from medieval times to the 1960s

High Salvington is a neighbourhood of Worthing, in the borough of Worthing in West Sussex, England. It is centred 2.5 miles (4.0 km) northwest of the town centre and is north of the A27.

Durrington or High Salvington Windmill is a Grade II listed post mill in High Salvington, Sussex that has been restored and is in full working order. The mill stands 320 feet (98 m) above sea level and is able to take advantage of incoming sea winds.

Salvington is a neighbourhood of Worthing, in the borough of Worthing in West Sussex, England. It lies south of the A27 road two miles (3 km) north-west of the town centre. It is served by three elected Worthing Borough Councillors at any given time, currently Nicola Waight, Noel Atkins and Michael Cloake, all Conservative.Salvington is thought to mean either 'Seawolf's farmstead' (Sǣwulf's farmstead) or less romantically, Sǣlāf's farmstead (literally the farmstead of someone named 'sea-leavings' or 'flotsam').Salvington was originally a hamlet within the parish of West Tarring. When most of Tarring became part of Worthing in 1902, Salvington joined the parish of Durrington which included nearby High Salvington. Salvington finally became part of the borough of Worthing in 1929.Salvington is probably best known as the birthplace of the great jurist and antiquarian John Selden in 1584. The cottage in which he lived was demolished in the 1960s when it fell into disrepair and was replaced with a row of bungalows. However Salvington's main public house, Ye John Selden, retains his name. Salvington is also home to 'Old Sussex House' in Salvington Road. This 16th-century building, originally known as 'Salvington Lets' is a listed building and retains in its attic what is possibly the last cockfighting pen in Sussex, surrounded by a thin oak trellis hammered together with hand-made nails.

Broadwater is a neighbourhood of Worthing, in the borough of Worthing in West Sussex, England. Situated between the South Downs and the English Channel, Broadwater was once a parish in its own right and included Worthing when the latter was a small fishing hamlet. Before its incorporation into the Borough of Worthing in 1902 Broadwater also included the manor of Offington to the north. It borders Tarring to the west, Sompting to the east, and East Worthing to the south-east.
