Kinnordy House

Loch of Kinnordy is a small loch located just west of town of Kirriemuir in Angus, Scotland, which is an important wildlife habitat. The loch itself is approximately 22 hectares, though this has varied over time with drainage attempts and the silting up of the outflow stream. Including surrounding fen, swamp and mire, 85 hectares are protected as a Ramsar Site.Loch of Kinnordy is a eutrophic loch which supports a number of rare species of wetland plants and migratory birds. There are internationally important numbers of greylag geese, with 1% of the Iceland population over-wintering at the site. Black-headed gulls, pink-footed geese, water rails and whooper swans occur in nationally important numbers, along with otters, red squirrels, butterflies and dragonflies.As well as being recognised as a wetland of international importance under the Ramsar Convention, Loch of Kinnordy has been designated a Special Protection Area and Site of Special Scientific Interest. The loch and surrounding area is also maintained as a nature reserve by the RSPB, with a car park, hides overlooking the loch and a bird-feeding station.

Kirriemuir Thistle Football Club are a Scottish junior football club based in Kirriemuir, Angus. Their home ground is Westview Park. Up until the end of the 2005–06 season, the club played in Tayside Division One of the Scottish Junior Football Association's East Region. They had previously finished as champions of the previous Tayside Junior Football League system once, in 1974. The SJFA restructured prior to the 2006–07 season, and Kirriemuir found themselves in the twelve-team East Region, North Division. They finished eighth in their first season in the division. A co-management duo of Chris Kettles and Ralph Brand were appointed in September 2017, with Kettles assuming sole charge after Brand stepped down in January 2018.On 14 June 2021, Darren Scott has left the club.

Webster's High School is a secondary school in Kirriemuir, Angus, Scotland. The school has run for over 150 years, and there are over 650 pupils in the school. The school has 4 houses; Isla, Moy, Prosen and Clova, The houses are named after Angus Glens. As well as the town of Kirriemuir, the school serves an extensive rural area which extends from Glen Isla, Glen Prosen and Glen Clova in the north, to the villages of Glamis and Glen Ogilvy in the south.

Kirriemuir (; Scots pronunciation: [ˌkɪreˈmeːr]; Scottish Gaelic: Ceathramh Mhoire [ˌkʲʰɛɾə ˈvɔɾʲə]), sometimes called Kirrie or the Wee Red Toon, is a burgh in Angus, Scotland. It reaches back to earliest recorded times, when it is thought to have been a major ecclesiastical centre. Later it was identified with witchcraft; some older houses still feature a "witches stane" to ward off evil. In the 19th century, it was a major centre of the jute trade. The playwright J. M. Barrie was born and buried here – a statue of Peter Pan stands in the town square. In 2016, a statue of Bon Scott, lead singer of AC/DC from 1974 until his death in 1980, was erected in Bellies Brae Car Park. While born in Forfar, Scott had lived in Kirriemuir as a child before his family moved to Australia.

Balfour Castle was a baronial mansion at Balfour Mains, near Kirkton of Kingoldrum, Angus, Scotland. The castle which was built in the 16th century is largely demolished except for a six-storey circular tower. A farm house has been built incorporating some of the ruins in c. 1845. The farmhouse and castle remains were designated as a Category B listed building in 1971.

Cortachy is a village in Angus, Scotland. It lies in at the mouth of Glen Clova, on the River South Esk, four miles north of Kirriemuir. Nearby lies Cortachy Castle, seat of the Earls of Airlie.

Cortachy Castle is a castellated mansion House at Cortachy, Angus, Scotland, some four miles north of Kirriemuir. The present building dates from the 15th century, preceded by an earlier structure that was owned by the Earls of Strathearn. It was acquired by the Ogilvies in 1473 and substantively modified in the 17th and 19th centuries. The 1696 remodelling was done by Tobias Bauchop of Alloa.In 1820 it was "romanticised", as was the fashion of the day, by the addition of crenellations, plus other alterations by R & R Dickson. Part of the building was damaged by fire in 1883 and it was extensively rebuilt in the following two years by Kinnear & Peddie.Cortachy Castle is a Category B listed building and the grounds are included in the Inventory of Gardens and Designed Landscapes in Scotland.The castle is said to be haunted by the spirit of a drummer.
