Renfrew is a small unincorporated village on the Connoquenessing Creek in Penn Township, Butler County, Pennsylvania, United States. It was founded by David A. Renfrew in 1882 on his farm. It was once a booming oil town with a general store, a school, a post office, a gas station, and a Methodist church. In September 2004, Renfrew experienced massive flooding due to rainfall caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ivan. The Buffalo and Pittsburgh Railroad still runs materials to and from the AK Steel mill in Butler through Renfrew along Railroad St. Once used by the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad, it was at one time a thriving railway that would travel down to Pittsburgh.

Murdering Town (or Murthering Town) was a Lenni Lenape community that comprised several smaller villages along the Connoquenessing Creek and Breakneck Creek near present-day Harmony, and Evans City, Pennsylvania, United States. The village was located along the Venango Path which ran through what was then the Ohio Country during the French and Indian War. Today, the area is part of Western Pennsylvania.

It encompasses approximately 144 square miles (370 km2) and covers the City of Butler, the Boroughs of Connoquenessing and East Butler and Butler Township, Center Township, Clearfield Township, Connoquenessing Township, Oakland Township and Summit Township. The district operates ten schools -- Center Township Elementary School (grades K-6), Connoquenessing Elementary School (grades K-6), Emily Brittain Community Partnership and Demonstration School (grades K-6), McQuistion Elementary School (grades K-6), Northwest Elementary School (grades K-6), Summit Elementary School (grades K-6), Butler Intermediate High School (grades 6-8), Butler Senior High School (grades 9-12), and Center Avenue Community School (grades K-12). The 2006 enrollment for elementary students is 4310 students and for secondary schools is 3946 students.
