Kalamassery (IPA: [kɐɭɐmɐʃːeːɾi]) is a municipality in the Ernakulam district of Kerala, India. It is located 9.6 km (6.0 mi) northeast of the Kochi centre, and is a part of the Kochi metropolitan area. The area's location along the NH 66 and proximity to the IT centres in Kakkanad has enabled it to see a large spurt in economic development since the 1980s.Kalamassery is a major hub for industrial and IT activities in Kochi. The Kalamassery Industrial Estate set up by the Government of Kerala is home to many major companies. Kalamassery is also home to educational institutions such as the National University of Advanced Legal Studies, Ernakulam Medical College, and the Cochin University of Science and Technology.

Rajagiri is a part of the Carmelites of Mary Immaculate (CMI), an indigenous Syrian Catholic religious congregation founded in 1831. It is located in Rajagiri Valley, Kakkanad, Kochi. It was acquired after Indian independence and developed by the Sacred Heart province. The literal meaning of Raja Giri in the Malayalam language (the vernacular of the people in Kerala) is the Hill of the King, where the King refers to God. Nowadays, Rajagiri is synonymous with Sacred Heart Province of the CMI congregation and its many social and educational institutions. CMI educational missions to date is a vast network of 448 institutions: over 200 schools, 14 university affiliated colleges, an engineering college, 12 technical institutes, a university, a medical college, 3 teacher training colleges, 5 special schools, 18 non formal educational institutions and 17 cultural centres which are spread all over India and a few located abroad. Due to constraints in space for the expansion of its various initiatives at the Kalamaserry campus, Rajagiri has extended into a new 90-acre (360,000 m2) campus on the banks of the Chitrapuzha river. This location is now called Rajagiri Valley, and is where Rajagiri has begun establishing a national science, arts and technology university – Rajagiri Vidyapeetham. It has tied up with a leading Kochi based property developer - RDS Projects Limited, to develop a modern university township.

Changampuzha Nagar is a prominent and planned residential area in Kalamassery in the city of Kochi, Kerala, India. The Residential area lies between Kalamassery municipal town hall and Pathadippalam near the National Highway 544 and is the major residential area in Kalamassery and Ernakulam. Changampuzha Nagar was developed by Kerala State Housing Board in 1975 and named after the great poet Changampuzha Krishna Pillai. There are about 600 houses in Changampuzha nagar with three children's parks one football ground, School building, Post Office (pin code is 682033), Ration shop, recreation club, Indoor shuttle court, library, clean and wide roads. This was once a rubber estate with an area, developed into a colony in the 70's, with houses developed into three types, EWS, LIG and MIG residential houses made like Panampilly Nagar and Gandhi Nagar, Kochi . St. Joseph's of the Woods English-Medium Higher Secondary School is a Catholic Co-Educational higher secondary school in Thrikkakkara (Kalamassery), Kochi in the Indian state of Kerala. It was founded in 1963 by the Carmelite Sisters of St. Teresa.

Kerala Museum (also known as the Museum of Kerala History) at Edapally, Kochi, India, is one of the oldest art and history museums in Kochi. It is managed by the Madhavan Nayar Foundation, a registered Public Charitable Trust, established in 1984, founded by philanthropist and entrepreneur R. Madhavan Nayar (1914–1996). The museum was opened to visitors in 1987.Kerala Museum has three galleries: the Museum of Kerala History, the Dolls Museum and the Gallery of Modern Art.

Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) is a state government-owned autonomous university in Kochi, Kerala, India. It was founded in 1971 and has three campuses: two in Kochi (Kalamassery and Ernakulam) and one in Kuttanad, Alappuzha, 66 km (41 mi) inland. The university awards degrees in engineering and science at the undergraduate, postgraduate and doctoral levels.The university was founded in 1971 as the University of Cochin through an act of the Kerala Legislature, which was the result of a campaign for postgraduate education in the state. It was renamed as Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT) in February 1986. Its goals are to promote undergraduate and postgraduate studies and advanced research in applied science, technology, industry, commerce, management and social sciences.Admissions to both undergraduate and postgraduate courses are based on the Common Admission Test (CAT). Departmental Admission Tests (DAT) are conducted for some postgraduate courses. As of 2019, the university has 29 Departments of study and research, offering graduate and post-graduate programmes across a wide spectrum of disciplines in Engineering, Science, Technology, Humanities, Law & Management. The university has academic links and exchange programmes with several institutions across the globe.A new species of amphipod collected from the Cochin backwaters was named Victoriopisa cusatensis after the university in 2018. The motto of the university is Tejasvinavadhithamastu, which is taken from the Vedas and conveys "May the wisdom accrued deify us both – the teacher and the taught - and percolate to the universe in its totality".

St. Thomas Marthoma Church Kalamassery, is a prominent Christian parish of the Kottayam – Kochi diocese under the Malankara Mar Thoma Syrian Church of Malabar. This parish forms the worship place for all the Marthomites in Changampuzha Nagar, Edapally, Muttam, NAD, Shanthinagar, North and South Kalamassery. The nearest Marthoma parishes are in Eloor, Palarivattom Kakanad and Aluva.

Pathadipalam is a station of Kochi Metro.The station is located between Cochin University and Edapally.It was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 17 June and opened for public on 19 June 2017 as a part of the first stretch of the metro system, between Aluva and Palarivattom.

The School of Engineering is a college under Cochin University of Science and Technology, in Kochi (Cochin), Kerala, India. Established in 1979 for offering part-time M.Tech programmes. The school was the first in the country to introduce Information Technology as an engineering stream and is one among very few colleges in the country with a B. Tech course in Safety and Fire Engineering. The school is a Research Centre and major Consultancy Centre. A number of research projects of national importance have been sanctioned to the school by agencies like DRDO, ISRO, DST, AICTE, UGC, Coir Board, and the Coconut Development Board. B.Tech programmes offered by the school have been accredited by the National Board of Accreditation under the Tier-I system. The board has been accorded permanent signatory status to the Washington Accord on 13 June 2014. As per the Washington Accord agreement, recognition of programmes by other signatories applies only to programmes accredited by the National Board of Accreditation that are offered by education providers accepted by the board as Tier-1 institutions.

Kalamassery is a station of Kochi Metro. The station is located between Muttom and Cochin University, in the municipality of Kalamassery. It was inaugurated by the Prime Minister of India Narendra Modi on 17 June and opened for public on 19 June 2017 as a part of the first stretch of the metro system, between Aluva and Palarivattom.

Thrikkakara Vamanamoorthy Temple is one of the major Hindu temples in India dedicated to Lord Vamana/Vishnu. It is situated in Thrikkakara, Kochi in the state of Kerala, India. Located around 10 km north-east of the city center between Thrissur-Ernakulam highway (NH 47), Seaport-Airport Road, Cochin University of Science and Technology and Model Engineering College, it is a centre of celebrations and a place of origin for the popular Onam festival. The temple is around two millennia old and is also listed as one of the 108 Divya Desams (divine places).The main temple festival is during the Onam season, which falls on the month of August or September and is the most important event of the religious calendar here. The Onasadya or the Onam feast is held in a grand manner in the temple with people of various religions participating in it. After East India Company and Marthandavarma illegally annexed the territory from Kingdom of Kochi, the Onam festival was jointly organized by the 61 Naduvazhis (local rulers) under the leadership of the Maharaja of Travancore, till India regained independence. Communal harmony continues to be the hallmark of the celebrations, with people belonging to different religions turning out in large numbers for the Sadya in keeping with the spirit of the festival. Apart from Onam, the temple also observes important festivals in the Hindu calendar such as Vishu, Makara Sankranti, Navarathri and Saraswati Puja.
