Cabot Circus is a covered shopping centre in Bristol, England. It is adjacent to Broadmead, a shopping district in Bristol city centre. The Cabot Circus development area contains shops, offices, a cinema, hotel and 250 apartments. It covers a total of 139,350 m2 (1,500,000 sq ft) floor space, of which 92,900 m2 (1,000,000 sq ft) is retail outlets and leisure facilities. It opened in September 2008, after a ten-year planning and building project costing £500 million.

Portland Square (grid reference ST594737) is a Grade I listed square in the St Paul's area of Bristol.It was laid out in the early 18th century as one of Bristol's first suburbs. Built upon a flat area of ground its central focus of St. Paul's Church. Shortly after construction started a number of the builders involved in the project became bankrupt, leaving much of the Square unfinished. A variety of Georgian architecture designed by Daniel Hague was designed for wealthy occupants, although some has since fallen into disrepair or been converted from residential occupation to offices. It is laid out around a central gardens. The gates and railings of which are a grade II listed building.

Garment Quarter is an independent designer fashion boutique that was founded in Bristol, England in 2010 by John Reid, Christopher Atkinson and Michael Barker. The shop was recently acquired by Teesside entrepreneur Howard Eggleston. The acquisition brought a relocation of the store and head offices to Merchant Street, Bristol. The name Garment Quarter stems from New York's Garment District and the founders roots in Manchester's Northern Quarter.Designed in Manchester, the contemporary architecture of the store was based on a cocoon with monochrome shards framed by contrasting pine wood with products 'floating' on a unique wiring system. In 2011, Garment Quarter won 'Best New Business' at the Drapers's Fashion Awards and has been included in the top shopping destination guides for The Daily Telegraph, The Times and British Airways Executive Club. Garment Quarter continues to have strong relationships with designers Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen, Victoria Beckham and Comme des Garcons. In 2014 Garment Quarter supported London Collections: MEN designers KTZ and Sibling London.In 2015 the Bristol store was ram raided for a second time.In 2016, Garment Quarter won 'Bristol's Best Fashion Retailer' at the Bristol Lifestyle Awards thanks to a public vote. The award was presented by model Chloe-Jasmine.

Circomedia is a school for contemporary circus and physical theatre based in Bristol, England. The school offers a variety of training courses and workshops that teach circus skills in the context of physical theatre, performance and creativity. It was founded in 1993 by Bim Mason and Helen Crocker, following the closure of Fooltime, Britain’s first circus school. It is financially supported by Arts Council South West and a range of other funding. Since 2004, Circomedia has been based in St. Paul's Church at Portland Square, Bristol and a site in Kingswood, Bristol which is home to the degree programme and the main office.

St Paul's Church gives its name to the surrounding St Paul's area of Bristol. It was built in the 1790s but fell into disuse and disrepair by its closure in 1988. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building.Major renovation work was undertaken to repair and convert the building for use as a performance space and circus skills school Circomedia.

Whitefield's Tabernacle, a church in Penn Street, Bristol, opened in 1753 for the followers of George Whitefield. It was replaced in 1957 by the Whitefield Memorial Tabernacle, in Muller Road, Horfield, Bristol, now the home of Horfield United Reformed Church. The work in Muller Road had started in 1930, but larger buildings were facilitated by compensation by Bristol City Council for the redevelopment of the site of the Penn Street church.

Tollgate House was a nineteen floor office building in the city of Bristol, England. It was located at the southern end of the M32 motorway leading into the city centre.

Blackfriars, Bristol was a Dominican priory in Broadmead, Bristol, England. It was founded by Maurice de Gaunt in 1227 or 1228. Llywelyn ap Dafydd, son of Dafydd ap Gruffydd, the last native Prince of Wales, was buried in the cemetery of the priory. Following the Dissolution of the Monasteries in the 16th century, surviving parts of the priory became a guildhall for the Smiths and Cutlers Company, the Bakers Company, a workhouse and then a meeting house for the Quakers. In the 20th century, it has housed the local register office, a theatre company, and a restaurant.

Castlemead is the second tallest high-rise building in Bristol, England, after Castle Park View topped out in 2020. Designed by A.J. Hines and started in 1973, work was halted by a recession in the property market and it was completed in 1981. The building has a roof height of 80 metres or 262 feet and consists of 18 floors, 17 of which are offices. Castlemead is owned by Regional Properties Ltd and managed by Knight Frank LLP. In June 2021, a major £2.1 million refurbishment completed. This included upgrading all 18 floors up to Grade A standard and transforming the basement to facilitate the creation of 374 new bike spaces, together with cycle hire facilities, 18 new showers, storage lockers, large dedicated drying room, new secure access with lift and 12 electric car charging points.The building is a short walk from Castle Park and the River Avon, and the Cabot Circus and Broadmead shopping areas.Companies contained within the building include: IMDb, Beaufort Securities Stockbrokers, IBEX Global UK, Marsh Commercial, Equiniti, Bristol IT Company and MWB Business Exchange. The building is also used by organisations including Lloyds TSB, and the City of Bristol College for holding exams.

Quakers Friars (grid reference ST592733) is a historic building in Broadmead, Bristol, England. The site is the remains of a Dominican friary, Blackfriars that was established by Maurice de Gaunt, c. 1227. Llywelyn ap Dafydd the eldest son and heir of Dafydd ap Gruffudd (Prince of Wales 1282–1283) was buried here in 1287. He had died while imprisoned at nearby Bristol Castle where he had been confined since 1283. The friends meeting house was built in 1747–1749 by George Tully, with detailing by Thomas Paty, as a Quaker meeting house. The building has recently been used as a register office, before being renovated as part of the Cabot Circus development. As of October 2020, the Quakers Friars houses a German-themed restaurant called Klosterhaus.It has been designated by Historic England as a grade I listed building.William Penn was married, 1696, in an earlier building on the site.It is a Scheduled Ancient Monument.

Broadmead is a street in the central area of Bristol, England, which has given its name to the principal shopping district of the city. It is part of Bristol Shopping Quarter.

The siege of Bristol lasted from the 18th to 26th of October 1326, and saw the city besieged by the forces of Isabella of France and Roger Mortimer during the 1326 Invasion of England. Isabella and Mortimer's forces fought the garrison under Hugh Despenser the Elder for eight days in a siege. They captured the fort after several attacks.
