The American Council of Trustees and Alumni (ACTA) is a conservative non-profit organization whose stated mission is to "support liberal arts education, uphold high academic standards, safeguard the free exchange of ideas on campus, and ensure that the next generation receives a philosophically rich, high-quality college education at an affordable price." ACTA does so primarily by calling on trustees to take on a more assertive governing role. It is based in Washington, D.C. and its current president is Michael Poliakoff.

The agency is also supposed to support the work of the Resident Commissioner of Puerto Rico but the relationship tends to be tumultuous when the governor and the resident commissioner come from different political parties. The Mayflower Hotel is a historic hotel in downtown Washington, D.C., located on Connecticut Avenue NW. It is two blocks north of Farragut Square (one block north of the Farragut North Metro station). The hotel is managed by the Autograph Collection Hotels division of Marriott International. The Mayflower is the largest luxury hotel in the District of Columbia, the longest continuously operating hotel in the Washington D.C. area, and a rival of the nearby Willard InterContinental and Hay-Adams Hotels. The Charles Sumner School, established in 1872, was one of the earliest schools for African Americans in Washington, D.C. Named for the prominent abolitionist and United States Senator Charles Sumner, the school became the first teachers' college for black citizens in the city and the headquarters of its segregated school system for African American students. It currently houses a small museum, a research room, art exhibits, and the archives of the District of Columbia Public Schools.

Students For Liberty (SFL) is an international libertarian non-profit organization with origins in the United States. Its stated mission is "to educate, develop, and empower the next generation of leaders of liberty." Formed in 2008 after a meeting at which students shared ideas and experiences about classical liberal student groups, SFL has since grown into a full organization with various programs and a network of affiliated student groups.The organization hosts an annual international conference as well as various regional conferences. As of 2014, the SFL network self-reported that it had a membership of 1,000 student organizations around the world. SFL's expansion is encouraged and supported by current students involved in its Campus Coordinators program.On August 1, 2016, Dr. Wolf von Laer became the chief executive officer.

The D.C. Women's Hall of Fame (also District of Columbia Women's Hall of Fame) was a project supported by the D.C. Commission for Women and meant to honor the achievements of women from the District of Columbia. Eight women were inducted into the hall of fame in its first year, 1988. Women were chosen for making "significant contributions in the fields of community and public service, education, health or labor." The hall of fame can be seen in the Dr. Mildred E. Gibbs lecture hall at the Charles Sumner School.

The building stands at a height of 150 feet (46 m) and has 12 stories. Construction of the building was completed in 1978. The architect of the building was Skidmore, Owings & Merrill, who created the postmodern design and aesthetic of the building.
