The Woodlands Mall features six anchor stores: Dick's Sporting Goods, Dillard's, Forever 21, JCPenney, Macy's, and Nordstrom. With a gross leasable area of 1,350,000 square feet (125,000 m2), The Woodlands Mall is considered a super-regional mall by industry definitions. The Woodlands Mall is managed by Brookfield Properties.

It is currently the second tallest building in Montgomery County, Texas, after Allison Tower. It is certified under the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design program.

Allison Tower, formerly Anadarko Tower, is a 32-story, 439 feet (133.81 m) skyscraper located in The Woodlands, Texas. It is currently the tallest building in Montgomery County, Texas and the tallest building between Houston and Dallas. It also was the first office complex in The Woodlands, Texas to achieve LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) certification by the U.S. Green Building Council as verification that the facility meets the highest green building and performance measures. The Anadarko Tower also has earned the Energy Star Award from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for its savings on energy consumption.

The Insperity Invitational is a professional golf tournament in Texas on the PGA Tour Champions. It debuted in 2004 as the Administaff Small Business Classic, and is played in suburban Houston. The first four editions were at Augusta Pines Golf Club in Spring, then it was moved to The Woodlands Country Club in The Woodlands in 2008, the former home of the Houston Open on the PGA Tour. Played in October for its first eight years, it changed to early May in 2012. Insperity, previously known as Administaff, has been the event's main sponsor since its debut. The purse for 2018 is $2.2 million, with a winner's share of $330,000.

Shenandoah is a city in Montgomery County, Texas, United States. Its population was 3,499 at the 2020 census. It is the hometown of David Vetter, the famous "boy in the plastic bubble". In 1986, the Shenandoah city council renamed Tamina School Road to David Memorial Drive in honor of Vetter.

The Woodlands Resort & Conference Center is a resort in The Woodlands, Texas. The resort is operated by the Woodlands Development Company and was founded in 1974 by George P. Mitchell, an American businessman and real estate developer.

Oak Ridge High School is a secondary school in unincorporated Montgomery County, Texas, near Conroe, and within the extraterritorial jurisdiction of Shenandoah. Built in 1981, Oak Ridge High School is classified as a 6A school in the Conroe Independent School District. In 2021–2022, the school received a B grade from the Texas Education Agency. The school serves: the city of Oak Ridge North, portions of the City of Shenandoah, the town of Woodloch, and the unincorporated communities of Imperial Oaks and Tamina. It also includes the former city of Chateau Woods. The school has two campuses: The main campus for students in grades 10–12 and a 9th grade campus on an adjacent property.Oak Ridge High School housed the Conroe ISD Academy of Science and Technology, a science and technology based magnet program, from 1987 until the end of the 2007 school year when the program was transferred to The Woodlands College Park High School. The Academy for Careers in Engineering and Science, which opened in 2018–2019, operates inside the Oak Ridge 9th grade campus. Oak Ridge also supports an Air Force JROTC program.

Tamina is an unincorporated community in southern Montgomery County, Texas, United States. Tamina is located along the Missouri Pacific line, located 1 mile (1.6 km) east of Interstate 45 and 8.5 miles (13.7 km) south of the city of Conroe. James H. Berry promoted the community and named it after Tammany Hall, New York City. The letter writer submitting the name to the postal department spelled the name "Tamina." The name is pronounced "Tammany" by some of the community's older residents.

Lone Star College (LSC) is a public community college system serving the northern portions of the Greater Houston, Texas, area. In 2017, it enrolled about 95,000 students. The headquarters of the Lone Star College System are located in The Woodlands and in unincorporated Montgomery County, Texas.
