Flushing Riverview Park

Flushing is a city in Genesee County, Michigan, United States. The population was 8,411 at the 2020 census. Flushing is considered a suburb of Flint. It is situated within the survey area of Flushing Charter Township, but is administratively autonomous. Flushing originated as a mill town in the mid-1830s. Its location along the Flint River, the county's largest river, was a decisive factor in its settlement. Water power potential was a significant determinant for the selection of the settlement areas throughout the nineteenth century. In addition to its water power, the area around Flushing was also well suited to agricultural pursuits.The name Dover originally was selected for the new village until it was discovered that the name already was in use in Lenawee County. Charles Seymour Sr., former resident of Flushing, Long Island, subsequently named the new community after the village in New York State.

The Main Street Historic District, located in Flushing Michigan, includes buildings on Main St from Maple to 628 (East) Main St and the Flushing Depot at 431 W Main St. Properties in this district are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 82 structures located on 22.4 acres of land create the district with commercial buildings reflecting ornate Italianate and early twentieth-century styles constructed between 1850 and 1918 and residences exhibiting a wide variety of Greek Revival, Italianate, Queen Anne, Colonial Revival, and Bungaloid styles and their vernacular derivatives built from 1850 to 1932.. Properties we added as part of the Main Street Historic Commercial District and the Genesee County MRA (Multiple Resource Area).

Flushing Community Schools is a school district in Flushing, Michigan, U.S.A. The superintendent is Matthew Shanafelt. Schools operated by the board include: Early Childhood Center Central Elementary School Elms Elementary School Seymour Elementary School Springview Elementary School Flushing Middle School Flushing High SchoolThe new Flushing Jr. High School was completed in 2005 and houses approximately 750 seventh and eighth grade students. Students in the middle school have access to a variety of technology labs to enhance their education. A physical science technology lab is available to all students for one semester as a part of the eighth grade physical science curriculum. A computer applications class is required of all students. A computer lab is available in the Library Media Center for student use for word processing, Internet and other computer applications. Also in place is an integrated learning lab for skill development in math and language arts and a mini-lab for foreign language instruction. Students have available to them core academic subjects and choices in exploratory electives with supporting technology. The middle school is fully accredited by North Central Association. The old Jr. High was built in 1927, and now is used for alternative education.

Flushing High School is a four-year public high school in Flushing, Michigan, U.S.A. It is operated by Flushing Community Schools. Its sports teams are known as the Raiders. Colors: Orange and Black. The principal is Kevin Foltz. Its newspaper is titled The Blazer and its yearbook is titled Perannos.

Mutton Park is a 3.5 acre city park located on the corner of Coutant and Chestnut Streets in the city of Flushing, Michigan. Bonnieview Court is located on the north side of the park. The park has a softball diamond, basketball court, playground and picnic area. This park is surrounded by residential on all sides.

The House at 10410 Stanley Road is a single-family home located in Flushing, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.The construction date of this house is unknown. Architecturally, the house itself is one of the most unusual of the nineteenth century residences in Genesee County. It is a two-story brick structure, composed of two rectangular sections with steeply pitched gable-roofs, linked at the sides by their cornicelines. The roof has three gabled dormers. All the gable ends and gable dormers contain elaborate, lacy vergeboards, giving the house a Gothic appearance. The windows in the facade are symmetrically placed, and are topped with segmented brick arches. The brickwork features a decorative brick bond with six stretcher rows placed between single rows of headers.

The House at 5556 Flushing Road is a single-family home located in Flushing, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.The house was likely built some time between 1840 and 1860. It is a two-story Greek Revival structure with a rectangular floorplan. The facade is symmetrical, and five bays wide. The entrance is through a centrally placed door, flanked with paneled pilasters and topped with an entablature. The house is topped with a wide frieze and a cornice with returns.

Clayton Charter Township, or more officially Charter Township of Clayton, is a charter township of Genesee County in the U.S. state of Michigan. The population was 7,581 at the 2010 census.

The Daniel O'Sullivan House (also known as the Halfway House) is a single-family home located at 5035 Flushing Road in Flushing, Michigan. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.Daniel O'Sullivan, one of the first settlers in Flint Township, helped found the city of Flint. He also served as one of the first teachers in the area, and was one of the founders of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Flint. O'Sullivan settled on this plot of land in 1853, and soon after constructed the house that now stands here. He opened it as a stagecoach stop and inn, calling it the "Halfway House" due to its location halfway between Flint and Flushing. In 1858, O'Sullivan sold the house to John and Elizabeth Ponsford, who had arrived in Flint Township from England in 1854. The Ponsfords continued to operate the Halfway House as an inn, and O'Sullivan returned to Flint and opened a store. The inn was passed on to Ponsford's descendants, and as of the 1980s was still in the family. It is used as a private residence.

Carman-Ainsworth High School is a high school in Flint Township, Michigan, United States. It is the only high school in the Carman-Ainsworth Community School district.
