Markham—Thornhill is a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that has been represented in the House of Commons of Canada since 2015. It encompasses a portion of Ontario previously included in the electoral districts of Markham—Unionville and Thornhill.Markham—Thornhill was created by 2012 federal electoral boundaries redistribution and was legally defined in the 2013 representation order. It came into effect upon the dropping of the writs for the 2015 federal election.

Underwood is a community in the Regional Municipality of York in Markham, Ontario, Canada that is located at the corner of Warden Ave between Birchmount Road and Steeles Avenue, north up to Hwy 7. Underwood is considered part of Downtown and Uptown Markham. It is likely considered to be part of Milliken. The former farm land disappeared in the 1980s and is now occupied by single family homes. The north edge of the area is occupied by commercial parks. The place is named for Underwood, Nottinghamshire in England.

Milliken Mills High School is a high school in the city of Markham, Ontario, Canada. Milliken Mills High School is one out of the 33 high schools in the York Region District School Board and is situated in ward 8 of Markham, Ontario. The high school is located on the border of the Milliken Mills West and the Milliken Mills East neighbourhoods and is located next to Milliken Mills Community Center. Its service boundary area stretches north from Steeles Avenue, west to Warden Avenue, south from the 14th Avenue, and east to McCowan Road. Milliken Mills High School is a multicultural school at the level of both students and staff with over 30 cultural groups.As of June 2013, the school is equipped with over 300 computer workstations.

Pacific Mall is an Asian shopping mall in Markham, Ontario, Canada. It is the largest indoor Asian shopping mall in North America and has been reported as the largest Asian shopping mall in the Western world. The mall is located on the northeast corner of Steeles Avenue and Kennedy Road, along the city limits with Toronto. Opened in the mid-1990s amid a period of significant Chinese immigration to Canada, the mall operates as a condominium corporation with 450 individual units. The mall also includes Heritage Town, a food court and market that functions as a notable tourist destination in the Greater Toronto Area. The Remington Centre, a proposed shopping mall first announced in 2005, would occupy the site formerly held by Market Village, a now-defunct mall adjacent to Pacific Mall. The expansion would see the construction of a structure that would bring the combined size of the malls to 1,000,000 square feet (90,000 m2), though the project has faced numerous delays. Pacific Mall is further noted as a location for the sale of counterfeit goods; stores in Pacific Mall have been raided multiple times by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and in 2018 the mall was listed as a notorious market by the Office of the United States Trade Representative.

Market Village was a 325,000-square-foot (30,200 m2) shopping mall in Markham, Ontario, Canada. Opened in 1990 and expanded in 1995, the mall closed on March 1, 2018.

Remington Centre (Chinese: 滙通廣場) is an upcoming 800,000-square-foot (74,000 m2) Chinese-themed mall to be built at the corner of Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue in Markham, Ontario, Canada, on the site of the former Market Village mall which closed on March 1, 2018. It will be connected to Pacific Mall by an indoor walkway. Market Village was scheduled for demolition and construction of the new mall which should have begun in the third quarter of 2013, but demolition began in October 2018. The new mall will have a contemporary design and unique features, including light-filled hallways, indoor and outdoor public spaces and signature night market.In 2009, plans were developed to demolish Market Village and replace it with a larger and modern complex called the Remington Centre. It will feature a two level structure with over 800,000 square feet (74,000 m2) of retail and commercial space and two condo towers (billed at The Grand Residences at Remington Centre) located on the southeast end. The Remington Centre will aim for LEED status along with the installation of 1100 tonnes of geothermal capacity. It is currently unknown when the mall will be constructed and completed due to several delays.

Splendid China Mall (traditional Chinese: 錦繡中華; simplified Chinese: 锦绣中华) (formerly known as Splendid China Tower) is a 90,000-square-foot (8,400 m2) Chinese-themed ethnic shopping centre located at the southeast corner of Redlea Avenue and Steeles Avenue in the Scarborough district of Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is on the Scarborough side of Steeles Avenue (the other side is in Markham, Ontario). It is located adjacent to Milliken GO Station and across from the Pacific Mall along with the now closed Market Village. The structure was formerly occupied by Canadian Tire.

Milliken and Milliken Mills are neighbourhoods in the cities of Toronto and Markham. Milliken is situated in the north west section of Scarborough, whereas Milliken Mills is situated in the south-central portions of Markham. The neighbourhoods are centered on Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue, the latter street serving as the boundary between the cities of Markham and Toronto. A large percentage of residents own their homes, which are primarily single family detached homes. As the majority of the homes present were built when the farming left the area in the 1980s, there are many two storied houses with garages, typical of the time of building and affordability.

Hagerman's Corners is a dispersed rural community in Markham, Ontario, Canada. Located at 14th Avenue and Kennedy Road, the former farm lands have disappeared and given way to homes and commercial parks. It is geographically located between the communities of Milliken Mills and Unionville, within the city of Markham. Hagerman's Corners was founded in 1803 by Nicholas Hagerman, who owned the property at the NW corner of the intersection. By 1878 the village had a hotel (Bee Hive Hotel) and tavern, a general store and post office (1873), and a wagon maker. In 1849, a Wesleyan Methodist church was built on a private Hagerman family burying ground; the wood-frame church was replaced by a brick building in 1874. While the church was torn down in the 1920s, the cemetery on the east side of Kennedy Road (on James Fairless' farm), north of 14th Avenue remains with former Presbyterian church demolished. A few historical homes still exist and have been revitalized in an attempt to beautify the area. Today, the west side of Kennedy Road is home to a new public housing project for the city of Markham. Two small strip malls with mostly Chinese stores are located on the southwest corner of 14th Avenue and Kennedy Road. One of the shopping areas houses the First Choice Supermarket, a Chinese-based supermarket (formerly Big Land Farm) and Tim Hortons; the other is home to various Asian restaurants. Hagerman Mennonite Church has met in the village since 1932.
