The Lucius Barbour House is a historic house at 130 Washington Street in Hartford, Connecticut. Built in 1865, it is a high-quality local example of Italianate architecture executed in brick. It is also noted for its interior, which is a well-preserved later Victorian remodeling of the original. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1979.

Hartford Hospital is an 938-bed acute care teaching hospital located in the South End of Hartford, Connecticut. Hartford Hospital was established in 1854. The hospital campus is located on Seymour Street in Hartford and is directly adjacent to the main campus of the Connecticut Children's Medical Center. Hartford Hospital was ranked #2 in Connecticut by U.S. News Best Hospitals and ranked #1 in the Hartford, Connecticut metro region by the same source. The hospital is a major tertiary care facility for the statewide region and is state designated as a Level I Trauma Center, able to care for the most critically injured of patients. It has 45 operating rooms and one of the largest surgical caseloads in the United States. The emergency room receives over 100,000 visits per year.

Connecticut Children's Medical Center is a nationally ranked, independent, non-profit, pediatric acute care hospital located in Hartford, Connecticut. The hospital has 185 beds and is the primary pediatric teaching affiliate of the University of Connecticut School of Medicine and the Frank H. Netter MD School of Medicine at Quinnipiac University. The hospital provides comprehensive pediatric specialties and subspecialties to pediatric patients aged 0–21 throughout Connecticut and the New England region, but also treats some adults that would be better treated under pediatricians. Connecticut Children's Medical Center also features the only ACS verified level 1 pediatric trauma center in the region, and 1 of 2 in the state. The hospital is also 1 of 2 children's hospital in the state of Connecticut.

The South Green Fire Station, also known as the Engine Company 1 Fire Station, is at 197 Main St. in downtown Hartford, Connecticut. Built in 1927, it is an architecturally distinctive example of Classical and Collegiate Gothic Revival architecture, designed by a prominent local firm. The station, as well as the former fire equipment maintenance house behind it at 36 John Street, were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989. The station presently houses Engine Company 1 and Ladder Company 6 of the Hartford Fire Department.

South Park Inn is an emergency homeless shelter located at 75 Main Street in Hartford, Connecticut. It was founded in 1982. Before the building was a shelter, it was once the South Park Methodist Church. Clients of the South Park Inn are assigned counselors who help with transportation, provide personal hygiene supplies, and help find housing. Clients must be 18 years old to stay. The shelter opens at 5:00 p.m. and closes at 8:00 p.m. for adults. The first floor is for male sleeping corridors and the second floor is for females and children to sleep. Everyone that stays at the shelter must do chores. 171 children stayed in the shelter in 2004. South Park Inn also has a program for men called Transitional Living which is for 33 homeless men who are motivated to make substantive changes in their lives.

The Hartford, Connecticut statue of Christopher Columbus is eight-foot tall bronze sculpture installed on Columbus Green, near Bushnell Park. The statue is by the artist Vincenzo Miserendino.

The Elm Street Historic District encompasses a collection of architecturally distinguished institutional and residential buildings near the Connecticut State Capitol in Hartford, Connecticut. Located on Capitol Avenue and Trinity and Elm Streets, it includes the city's best concentration of early 20th-century architecture, including Bushnell Memorial Hall and several state office buildings. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.

The Clay Hill Historic District in Hartford, Connecticut is a 60-acre (24 ha) historic district that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983, and expanded in 1984. Northwest of Downtown Hartford, the district is roughly bounded by Main, Mather, Garden, and Walnut Streets. The district contains examples of Queen Anne, Italianiate and Neoclassical Revival architecture.

The Henry Barnard House is a historic house and National Historic Landmark at 118 Main Street in Hartford, Connecticut, United States. It was the lifelong home of educator Henry Barnard (1811–1900), an education reformer who was instrumental (along with Horace Mann) in the development of the American public school system. Barnard established the statewide education systems of both Connecticut and Rhode Island, which served as models for the development of such infrastructure in other states. The house is now owned by a religious charity, which operates a homeless shelter on the premises.

The Bushnell Center for the Performing Arts (formerly known as Bushnell Memorial Hall or simply The Bushnell ) is a performing arts venue at 166 Capitol Street in Hartford, Connecticut. Managed by a non-profit organization, it is marketed as Connecticut's premier presenter of the performing arts.

140 and 144 Retreat Avenue is a historic conjoined pair of houses in Hartford, Connecticut. Built in 1844 and 1851, the two houses are the only surviving reminders of the street's 19th-century streetscape. They were listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982.

The Buckingham Square District of Hartford, Connecticut encompasses a mixed residential and commercial neighborhood area just south of the city's downtown. It is centered around Buckingham Square, laid out in 1830 on the site of an early colonial-era church. The district includes a concentration of well-preserved Victorian architecture from the 1860s to 1890s. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977, and slightly enlarged in 1982.
