Titsal Wood, Shadingfield

The A145 is an A road in the English county of Suffolk. It runs from east of the town of Beccles, close to the border with Norfolk, to the village of Blythburgh where it joins the A12 road. It is around 11 miles (18 km) in length and single carriageway throughout.

Shadingfield is a village and civil parish in the East Suffolk district of the English county of Suffolk. It is located around 4 miles (6.4 km) south of Beccles in the north of the county. The village is spread along a 1+1⁄4 miles (2.0 km) stretch of the A145 road between Beccles and Blythburgh to the south. The Ipswich to Lowestoft railway line runs through the west of the parish, with the nearest stations at Brampton and Beccles railway stations. The village itself is joined with Willingham St Mary and 1+1⁄2 miles (2.4 km) west of Sotterley. The parish council operates to administer jointly the parishes of Shadingfield, Willingham, Sotterley and Ellough. Other than Willingham and Sotterley, the parish also borders Brampton with Stoven, Redisham and Weston. At the 2011 United Kingdom census the population of the parish was 178. This had risen slightly from a mid-2005 population estimate of 170, and significantly from a 1981 population of 103. Some houses in Redisham village are within the Shadingfield parish area.

Brampton railway station is on the East Suffolk Line in the east of England, serving the villages of Brampton, Redisham and surrounding hamlets in Suffolk. It is 35 miles 70 chains (57.7 km) down the line from Ipswich and 104 miles 49 chains (168.4 km) measured from London Liverpool Street; it is situated between Halesworth and Beccles. It is commonly suffixed as Brampton (Suffolk) in order to distinguish it from the station of the same name in Cumbria. Brampton and the line is served by one train per hour in each direction between Ipswich and Lowestoft. It is managed by Greater Anglia, which also operates all the trains.

Redisham is a village and civil parish in the English county of Suffolk. It is located 3+1⁄2 miles (5.6 km) south-west of Beccles and 4+1⁄3 miles (7.0 km) north-east of Halesworth in the East Suffolk district. The population of the parish was 125 at the 2011 United Kingdom census. The parish is in a rural location. It borders Ilketshall St Andrew, Westhall, Brampton with Stoven, Shadingfield, Weston and Ringsfield. The village is on the eastern border of the parish, with some of the housing in it across the border in Shadingfield. The village has limited services, although Brampton railway station on the East Suffolk Line is closer to Redisham than it is to Brampton. The parish church is dedicated to St Peter. It is a Grade I listed building with a Norman doorway and has been the site of a church since the 10th Century. It is reported to be the smallest church in Suffolk with only 60 seats. The author Adrian Bell farmed a smallholding in the village during World War II. This was the childhood home of his children, translator Anthea Bell and the journalist and politician Martin Bell. Redisham Hall is located to the north of the village but is in Ringsfield parish.

Weston is a village and civil parish in the English county of Suffolk. It is around 2 miles (3 km) south of Beccles in the East Suffolk district. The parish lies either side of the A145 road and is crossed by the Ipswich to Lowestoft railway line. Neighbouring parishes include Ellough, Ringsfield, Willingham St Mary and Shadingfield. The village is largely dispersed with a population of around 230. The village has few services and a joint parish council covers both Ringsfield and Weston. The village once had a school, on King's Lane, and a public house, the Duke of Marlborough on the main A145. Both are now closed and the major centre of population in the parish is to the west where it borders Ringsfield Corner. The parish church is medieval in origin and dedicated to St Peter. It has a primarily Norman core and is a Grade I listed building. The parish was combined with that of All Saints Church, Ellough in the 1970s.

Willingham St Mary, also known simply as Willingham, is a village and civil parish in the English county of Suffolk located about 3.5 miles (6 km) south of Beccles in the East Suffolk district. Sections of the Sotterley estate are included within Willingham's western section. At the 2011 United Kingdom census, it had a population of 152.

All Saints Church is a redundant Anglican church in the parish of Ellough, Suffolk, England. The church is medieval in origin and is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The church stands in an isolated position on the top of a low hill, some 2.5 miles (4 km) to the south-east of Beccles.

Ringsfield is a village and civil parish in the English county of Suffolk. It is 2 miles (3.2 km) south-west of Beccles in the East Suffolk district. The parish had a population of 323 at the 2011 United Kingdom census. It borders the parishes of Beccles, Weston, Redisham, Ilketshall St Andrew and Barsham. The parish council operates jointly with Weston.

Ellough Park Raceway is a kart racing track in Ellough in the English county of Suffolk. It is located around 2 miles (3 km) south-east of the market town of Beccles. It is primarily used for kart racing as it is a fast, but tight and twisty circuit. The track, which is fully floodlit, has existed on the old Ellough Airfield since the early 1960s, but was not fully developed until 2000, when ex-Formula 1 driver Jackie Oliver opened the circuit. The authorities at the circuit extended it in 2007, from 800m to just over 1000m to make it more suitable for other forms of kart and minimoto racing. The circuit was extended further in 2010 to incorporate a new pits complex and add extra paddock space for hosting the Formula Kart Stars championship. In 2022 the current owner of the circuit (Simon Francis) further extended the track. There is now a 190m straight which incorporates a breath taking and very physical chicane as well as 180 degree banked curve taken at full speed. The circuit is now over 1100m and is probably one the most demanding within the UK. Today, the track plays host to national and local kart championships, as well as charity events, stag parties and corporate days which use the arrive and drive facilities at the track. A small clubhouse, shop and changing facilities are available.

Ellough is a civil parish in the East Suffolk district of the English county of Suffolk, located approximately 3 miles (5 km) south-east of Beccles. The area is sparsely populated with a mid-2005 population estimate of 40. The parish, which has an area of 4.5 square kilometres (1.7 sq mi), borders Worlingham, North Cove, Mutford, Weston, Sotterley, Willingham St Mary and Henstead with Hulver Street. The parish council operates to administer jointly the parishes of Shadingfield, Willingham St Mary, Sotterley and Ellough. The village was the site of a World War II airfield built in 1943 and operated today as Beccles Airfield. Part of the former airfield is used as a kart racetrack and as an industrial estate, including the main production site of local printing firm William Clowes Ltd. The village itself is dispersed and has few services. The A145 road, forming part of the Beccles southern bypass, runs along part of the northern border of the parish.

Barsham is a village and civil parish in the East Suffolk district of the English county of Suffolk. It is about 2 miles (3.2 km) west of Beccles, south of the River Waveney on the edge of The Broads National Park. It is spread either side of the B1062 Beccles to Bungay road.At the 2011 United Kingdom census the parish had a population of 215. The parish council is jointly operated with neighbouring Shipmeadow, with the two parishes sharing a village hall. Other than this and the parish church, there are no services in the parish.The parish borders the parishes of Beccles, Shipmeadow, Ringsfield and Ilketshall St Andrew. The River Waveney marks the county boundary with Norfolk and the parishes of Geldeston and Gillingham border Barsham to the north of the river.
