The William Mizell Sr. House, on Garden Street (formerly was 101 Palm St.) in Folkston in Charlton County, Georgia, was built in 1917. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997.It has also been known as the Susie Fleming/Helen Sarbacher Property, and its listing included three contributing buildings and two contributing sites.It is a two-story frame house with a one-story wraparound porch supported by paired Doric columns. The architectural style is a restrained version of Classical Revival style. It has a frame greenhouse from 1917 and a frame garage from 1940, which, at the time of NRHP listing, were both in damaged condition.It was the home of it was the home of William Mizell Sr. (1852–1930) and his wife, Susie Jane Standiford Mizell (1859–1936). William Mizzell was a businessman who operated sawmills and established the Citizens' Bank in Folkston.

Charlton County Courthouse

The Charlton County Courthouse is located in Folkston, Georgia. It is in the Neoclassical style and was constructed in 1928 out of brick, stone, and concrete. The construction cost was $46,000 and the clock cost and additional $3,000. The total cost of the project was $54,000. It is the fourth courthouse built for this county and is built on the site of the previous courthouse, which was built in 1902 and burned in 1928.The building was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.

Folkston Railfan Platform

The Folkston Railfan Platform is located in Folkston, Georgia along CSX Transportation's Nahunta Subdivision, and provides a location where railfans can safely view and photograph trains. With the help of a $30,000 state grant, the city built the train-watching platform in 2001 and is promoted by county and state tourism agencies.Since that time, the city has attracted thousands of railfans from across the nation who come to Folkston to see the dozens of CSX and the six Amtrak trains (including the daily Amtrak Auto Train) that operate between cities in Florida and cities in the south, midwest, and northeast. The platform is equipped with ceiling fans and a radio scanner that allows railfans to hear railroad-related radio traffic. Wireless internet access is available. The double-track mainline that passes through town sees about 40 trains each day. Most CSX freight traffic into or out of Florida passes through Folkston.

D. Ray James Correctional Institution is a private prison located in Folkston, Charlton County, Georgia, owned and operated by the GEO Group under contract with the Federal Bureau of Prisons and the U.S. Marshals Service.The facility first opened in 1998 for Georgia state inmates. In 2010, after an expansion, the 1800 existing Georgia inmates were moved to other state prisons, replaced with as many as 2507 federal immigration detainees.In August 2016, Justice Department officials announced that the FBOP would be phasing out its use of contracted facilities, on the grounds that private prisons provided less safe and less effective services with no substantial cost savings. The agency expects to allow current contracts on its thirteen remaining private facilities to expire. D. Ray James is one of those facilities. Canadian activist Marc Emery was held at D. Ray James in 2010/2011 as a "deportable alien".
