Kilen, Kristiansand

Finsland is a former municipality in the old Vest-Agder county, Norway. The 118-square-kilometre (46 sq mi) municipality existed from 1838 until its dissolution in 1964. The administrative centre was the village of Finsland where Finsland Church is located. The municipality generally encompassed the northern part of the present-day municipality of Kristiansand in what is now Agder county.

Breland is a village in Lindesnes municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located just over the border from the neighboring Kristiansand municipality. The village of Øyslebø lies about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the southwest of Breland. There are about 70 people living in the rural village and surrounding area. The village is served by Breland Station on the Sørlandet Line. The lake Brelandsvann is located on the east side of the village.

Breland Station (Norwegian: Breland stasjon) is a railway station on the Sørlandet Line situated in the village of Breland in Lindesnes municipality in Agder county, Norway. Located 385.10 kilometers (239.29 mi) from Oslo Central Station, it is served by a single long-distance train in each direction, operated by Go-Ahead Norge, to serve commuter traffic to and from the town of Kristiansand. The station has two platforms and a passing loop, although the main platform is only 46 meters (151 ft) long. The station was opened on 17 December 1943 as part of the segment of the Sørlandet Line between Kristiansand and Sira. The line past the station was electrified in 1946 and the station automated in 1969. The following year the station became unmanned and the station building was demolished in 1987. The Norwegian National Rail Administration has decided to close the station in 2019, as it only served 2,200 annual passengers in 2008.

Øvrebø og Hægeland is a former municipality that was located in the old Vest-Agder county in Norway. The 303-square-kilometre (117 sq mi) municipality existed from 1865 until its dissolution in 1896. It was located in the northern part of the present-day municipality of Vennesla, to the west of the Otra river. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Øvrebø, where Øvrebø Church is located.

Øvrebø is a rural district and village in Vennesla municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located about 25 km (16 mi) north-northwest of the city of Kristiansand. The village of Skarpengland lies about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) east of Øvrebø. The district of Øvrebø covers the central part of Vennesla municipality. Historically, the district of Øvrebø was a separate municipality known as Øvrebø which existed from 1838 until 1865, and then again from 1896 until 1964. In Skarpengland, there is a bank, a post office, several stores, a motor repair shop, and a school. Øvrebø is known for the "Øvrebø ski", found at Mushom and considered for many years to be Norway's oldest preserved ski. It can be seen in the Holmenkollen Ski Museum in Oslo.

Øvrebø is a former municipality that was located in the old Vest-Agder county in Norway. The municipality existed twice during the 19th and 20th centuries. Originally, from 1838 until 1865, the 398-square-kilometre (154 sq mi) municipality encompassed roughly the same boundaries as the present-day municipality of Vennesla. The second iteration of the municipality was only 109 square kilometres (42 sq mi) and it corresponded to the central part of present-day Vennesla municipality. The municipal centre was the village of Skarpengland. The small village of Øvrebø is located about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) west of Skarpengland, and this is where the Øvrebø Church is located.

Øvrebø Church (Norwegian: Øvrebø kirke) is a parish church of the Church of Norway in Vennesla Municipality in Agder county, Norway. It is located in the village of Øvrebø, a short distance west of the village of Skarpengland. It is the church for the Øvrebø parish which is part of the Otredal prosti (deanery) in the Diocese of Agder og Telemark. The white, wooden church was built in a cruciform design in 1800 using plans drawn up an unknown architect. The church seats about 300 people.

Mushom is a small farm in Vennesla municipality in Vest-Agder county, Norway. The farm is located about 2.5 kilometres (1.6 mi) west of the village of Homstean. The so-called "Øvrebø-ski" was found in a marsh at Mushom. For many years it was considered Norway's oldest preserved ski. The artifact can now be seen at the Holmenkollen Ski Museum in Oslo.

Songdalen is a former municipality in the old Vest-Agder county, Norway. The municipality existed from 1964 until 2020 when it was merged with Søgne and Kristiansand municipalities to form a new, much larger Kristiansand municipality in what is now Agder county. It was located in the traditional district of Sørlandet, just outside of the city of Kristiansand. The administrative centre of the municipality was the village of Nodeland. Other villages in the municipality included Brennåsen, Finsland, Kilen, Nodelandsheia, and Volleberg. The Sørlandsbanen railway line ran through the municipality, stopping at Nodeland Station. The European route E39 highway also ran through the southern part of the municipality. Prior to its dissolution in 2020, the 216-square-kilometre (83 sq mi) municipality is the 323rd largest by area out of the 422 municipalities in Norway. Songdalen is the 161st most populous municipality in Norway with a population of 6,568. The municipality's population density is 31.8 inhabitants per square kilometre (82/sq mi) and its population has increased by 16% over the last decade.

Homstean or Slettebrotane is a village in Vennesla municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the Norwegian National Road 9, about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) south of the village of Skarpengland, just about 1.5 kilometres (0.93 mi) north of the border with Kristiansand municipality. The 0.35-square-kilometre (86-acre) village has a population (2016) of 345 which gives the village a population density of 986 inhabitants per square kilometre (2,550/sq mi).The small farming village of Mushom lies about 2.5 kilometres (1.6 mi) to the west. That area has had some notable archaeological finds over the year including a very old ski that is now in a museum in Oslo.

Skarpengland is a village in Vennesla municipality in Agder county, Norway. The village is located along the Norwegian National Road 9 about 3 kilometres (1.9 mi) east of the village of Øvrebø and about 4 kilometres (2.5 mi) north of Homstean. The large village of Vennesla lies about 10 kilometres (6.2 mi) to the southeast and the city of Kristiansand lies about 23 kilometres (14 mi) to the south.Skarpengland was the administrative centre of the old municipality of Øvrebø from 1838 until 1964 when it was merged into Vennesla municipality. The 0.34-square-kilometre (84-acre) village has a population (2016) of 563 which gives the village a population density of 1,656 inhabitants per square kilometre (4,290/sq mi).

Trysfjorden is a fjord located in the municipality of Kristiansand in Agder county, Norway. The mouth of the 6.5-kilometre (4.0 mi) long fjord sits just west of the village of Trysnes and just northeast of the village of Ålo. The European route E39 highway runs along the inner part of the fjord, just west of the village of Lohne. The deepest parts of the fjord reach about 85 metres (279 ft) deep. In the mud at the bottom, scientists have discovered crustaceans that they believe are indigenous to the bay. Trysfjord has several islands and islets. The islets of Storholmen, Notholmen, and Urholmen lie just outside of Røsstad. Near the villages of Trysnes and Lastad lies the island of Lastadholmen which in recent years has had the largest colony of terns in Southern Norway. The mouth of the fjord lies just south of Lastadholmen where the fjord empties into the Skaggerak.
