Sands Creek

Bear Brook is a river in Delaware County, New York. It flows into Sands Creek northwest of Hancock.

Hancock is a town in Delaware County, New York, United States. The town contains a village, also named Hancock. The town is in the southwest part of the county. The population was 3,224 at the 2010 census. The town is the largest by area in Delaware County. The town borders two other counties, Sullivan County, NY, to the south and Wayne County, PA, to the west. The town is located partially in the Catskill Park.

Point Mountain is a mountain located in the Catskill Mountains of New York south of Hancock. Hawk Mountain is located northeast, Jehu Mountain is located east, McCoys Knob is located south-southeast and Coon Hill is located north of Point Mountain.

Hancock is a village in Delaware County, New York, United States. The population was 908 at the 2020 census. The village is in the west part of the town of Hancock at the junction of NY Routes 17 and 97. Hancock is located at the confluence of the East and West branches of the Delaware River. Hancock owes its former importance mainly to the Erie Railroad from 1848. The Erie merged into the Erie Lackawanna Railway in 1960. The railroad still exists as the Southern Tier Line of the Norfolk Southern Railway, leased to the Central New York Railroad, but sees only a few freight trains weekly. The Scranton Branch of the New York, Ontario and Western Railway bridged the West Branch of the Delaware River just west of the village; this railway's main activity in the area was at Cadosia junction, a few miles up the East Branch of the Delaware River. Though the O&W ceased operations on March 29, 1957, the bridge was not removed until the 1970s.

Busfield Pond is a small lake located north of Hancock in Delaware County, New York. Busfield Pond drains south via an unnamed creek that flows into Sands Creek.

Hancock Middle/High School is located in Hancock, New York, United States. It is the single high school for the Hancock Central School District.

Shehawken Creek is a stream located in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, near the town of Starlight. It is also known as Chehocton Creek. It is a tributary of the West Branch Delaware River, into which it flows shortly before the West Branch unites with the East Branch to form the Delaware River.

Point Mountain Mausoleum is an abandoned mausoleum at the top of Point Mountain in Hancock, New York, overlooking the Delaware River and neighboring Pennsylvania. It was built as the memorial and final resting spot of Dr. Lester E. Woolsey (1872–1962) in the 1940s. Woolsey was a longtime Delaware County coroner who had practiced medicine in Hancock since 1901. Woolsey was buried there only a few years, but the structure could not be properly protected, and all the bodies that were entombed there were removed. Dr. Woolsey's remains were removed to Old Colonial Mausoleum, Union Dale, Pennsylvania.

The East Branch Delaware River is one of two branches that form the Delaware River. It is approximately 75 mi (121 km) long, and flows through the U.S. state of New York. It winds through a mountainous area on the southwestern edge of Catskill Park in the Catskill Mountains for most of its course, before joining the West Branch along the northeast border of Pennsylvania with New York. Much of it is paralleled by State Route 30. The river was impounded just north of Downsville in the mid-20th century to create Pepacton Reservoir, part of the New York City water supply system supplying drinking water to the City. It is a popular destination for fly fishing for brown trout. In 1881 John Burroughs, a native of the area, published "A Summer Voyage", recounting a solo boat trip down the East Branch from Arkville to Hancock.There are many variant names for the river that include: Papaconck, Papakonk River, Papotunk River, Pepachton River, Pepacton Branch, Popacton River, Popaxtunk Branch.

The West Branch Delaware River is one of two branches that form the Delaware River. It is approximately 90 mi (144 km) long, and flows through the U.S. states of New York and Pennsylvania. It winds through a mountainous area of New York in the western Catskill Mountains for most of its course, before joining the East Branch along the northeast border of Pennsylvania with New York. Midway or so it is empounded by the Cannonsville Dam to form the Cannonsville Reservoir, both part of the New York City water supply system for delivering drinking water to the City.

Cadosia Creek is a river in Delaware County, New York. It flows into the East Branch Delaware River east-northeast of Hancock.
