Hancock (village), New York

Hancock Middle/High School is located in Hancock, New York, United States. It is the single high school for the Hancock Central School District.

Hancock is a town in Delaware County, New York, United States. The town contains a village, also named Hancock. The town is in the southwest part of the county. The population was 3,224 at the 2010 census. The town is the largest by area in Delaware County. The town borders two other counties, Sullivan County, NY, to the south and Wayne County, PA, to the west. The town is located partially in the Catskill Park.

Point Mountain Mausoleum is an abandoned mausoleum at the top of Point Mountain in Hancock, New York, overlooking the Delaware River and neighboring Pennsylvania. It was built as the memorial and final resting spot of Dr. Lester E. Woolsey (1872–1962) in the 1940s. Woolsey was a longtime Delaware County coroner who had practiced medicine in Hancock since 1901. Woolsey was buried there only a few years, but the structure could not be properly protected, and all the bodies that were entombed there were removed. Dr. Woolsey's remains were removed to Old Colonial Mausoleum, Union Dale, Pennsylvania.

Shehawken Creek is a stream located in Wayne County, Pennsylvania, near the town of Starlight. It is also known as Chehocton Creek. It is a tributary of the West Branch Delaware River, into which it flows shortly before the West Branch unites with the East Branch to form the Delaware River.

The West Branch Delaware River is one of two branches that form the Delaware River. It is approximately 90 mi (144 km) long, and flows through the U.S. states of New York and Pennsylvania. It winds through a mountainous area of New York in the western Catskill Mountains for most of its course, before joining the East Branch along the northeast border of Pennsylvania with New York. Midway or so it is empounded by the Cannonsville Dam to form the Cannonsville Reservoir, both part of the New York City water supply system for delivering drinking water to the City.

The East Branch Delaware River is one of two branches that form the Delaware River. It is approximately 75 mi (121 km) long, and flows through the U.S. state of New York. It winds through a mountainous area on the southwestern edge of Catskill Park in the Catskill Mountains for most of its course, before joining the West Branch along the northeast border of Pennsylvania with New York. Much of it is paralleled by State Route 30. The river was impounded just north of Downsville in the mid-20th century to create Pepacton Reservoir, part of the New York City water supply system supplying drinking water to the City. It is a popular destination for fly fishing for brown trout. In 1881 John Burroughs, a native of the area, published "A Summer Voyage", recounting a solo boat trip down the East Branch from Arkville to Hancock.There are many variant names for the river that include: Papaconck, Papakonk River, Papotunk River, Pepachton River, Pepacton Branch, Popacton River, Popaxtunk Branch.
