The North Calais Village Historic District encompasses a linear 19th-century mill village in Calais, Vermont. It extends mainly along North Calais Road, paralleling Pekin Brook below Mirror Lake, where ruins of its former industrial past are still evident. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The Theodore Wood House is a historic house at 1420 Hollister Hill Road in Marshfield, Vermont. Built about 1887, it is the only known surviving work of Chester James Wood, a local builder of some reputation, and is the town's only significant surviving example of Second Empire architecture. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.

The Marshfield School of Weaving is a craft school located in Marshfield, Vermont. Instruction focuses on traditional weaving, spinning, dyeing, and other textile techniques from 17th–19th century Britain and North America.

The Washington-6 Representative District is a one-member state Representative district in the U.S. state of Vermont. It is one of the 108 one or two member districts into which the state was divided by the redistricting and reapportionment plan developed by the Vermont General Assembly following the 2000 U.S. Census. The plan applies to legislatures elected in 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, and 2010. A new plan will be developed in 2012 following the 2010 U.S. Census. The Washington-6 District includes all of the Washington County towns of Calais, Marshfield, and Plainfield. As of the 2000 census, the state as a whole had a population of 608,827. As there are a total of 150 representatives, there were 4,059 residents per representative (or 8,118 residents per two representatives). The one member Washington-6 District had a population of 4,311 in that same census, 6.21% above the state average.

Woodbury Town Hall is center of town government of Woodbury, Vermont. It is located on the west side of Vermont Route 14 in the town's village center. Built in 1842, it is a well-preserved example of a vernacular Greek Revival municipal building. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.

Area code 802 is a telephone area code in the North American Numbering Plan (NANP) for the U.S. State of Vermont. AT&T established the numbering plan area (NPA) for the entire state with one of the original area codes in October 1947 and it remains Vermont's only area code. Vermont is among the eleven states with only one area code and 802 has become a source of pride in the state.Prior to October 2021, area code 802 had telephone numbers assigned for the central office code 988. In 2020, 988 was designated nationwide as a dialing code for the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline, which created a conflict for exchanges that permit seven-digit dialing. This area code was therefore scheduled to transition to ten-digit dialing by October 24, 2021.

Marshfield is a village in the town of Marshfield in Washington County, Vermont, United States. The population was 229 at the 2020 census.

The Woodbury Granite Company (WGC) was a producer of rough and finished granite products. Incorporated in 1887, purchased and significantly reorganized in 1896, and expanded by merger in 1902 and thereafter, the company operated quarries principally in Woodbury, Vermont, but its headquarters and stone-finishing facilities were located in nearby Hardwick. Beginning as a quarrier and seller of rough stone, the company expanded into the business of finishing cut stone and grew from there. It made its name as a supplier of architectural (structural) granite, and grew to become the United States' largest producer, supplying the stone for many notable buildings, including several state capitols, numerous post offices, and many office buildings. With the growing national economy and civic and community pride spurring the construction of many granite public buildings, the company flourished in the years around 1910. Changes in architectural styles and in building techniques during the following years greatly harmed the market for architectural granite, and the company's coarser-grained stone could not compete with competitors' finer-grained granite for carving monuments and gravestones, nor could the company compete with the established actors in that market. The company went into decline, which was exacerbated by the Great Depression, and ceased operations in 1935.

The Martin Covered Bridge is a wooden covered bridge spanning the Winooski River off United States Route 2 in southern Marshfield, Vermont. Built about 1890, it is the only surviving historic covered bridge in the town. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974.

Adamant is a small, unincorporated community in the town of Calais in Washington County, Vermont, United States, in the central part of Vermont. The village is situated on the town line between Calais to the north and East Montpelier to the south. There is no true boundary to define the village, and as such, there is great debate as to what constitutes residence. This is, however, purely theoretical as there is no legal, governmental, or commercial status associated with residence. The debate has given rise to the common aphorism that "Adamant is a state of mind".The village was originally known as Sodom from its inception prior to the mid-19th century as a granite quarry-town. Local lore tells the story of a preacher slamming his fist on the pulpit proclaiming, "I am adamant that we change the name of this town!" In 1905, residents petitioned the state legislature for a name change to "Adamant."The quarries remained an active part of the Vermont granite industry well into the mid-20th century. The small, rural village has no paved roads or traffic lights. The village center is the member-owned Adamant Co-op, a general store and post office located at the junction of Haggett, Quarry, Center and Sodom Pond Roads. Founded in 1935, it is the state's oldest co-operative.Perhaps the village's most notable inclusion is the Adamant Music School, a summer-long piano and musicology school founded in 1942. Adamant is also home to the Quarryworks Theater, a community theater set on the grounds of Adamant's largest quarry. Adamant was mentioned in the 2000 blockbuster movie What Lies Beneath starring Harrison Ford and Michelle Pfeiffer.
