Downtown New Britain

The New Britain Public High School Campus is a historic suite of former school buildings at 50 Bassett Street and 161 South Main Street in New Britain, Connecticut. The campus's oldest building, opened in 1896, was one of the first public high schools in Connecticut, and is a good example of Renaissance Revival architecture. The campus was repeated enlarged during the 20th century with the addition of trade and vocational components, and served the city as a high school until the 1970s, when it was converted to housing.The campus was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015.

The First Lutheran Church of the Reformation is a historic church at 77 Franklin Square in New Britain, Connecticut. The congregation was founded in 1885 and the current church building was constructed 1903-07. The building, a fine local example of Late Gothic Revival architecture, was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The Erwin Home, originally the Erwin Home for Worthy and Indigent Women, is a charitable organization providing housing for women of limited means in New Britain, Connecticut. Managed by the South Church of New Britain, it operates a number of apartment houses between Bassett Street and Cornelius Way. It was founded in 1885 with a bequest from local businessman and philanthropist Cornelius Erwin. Its original main building is listed on the National Register of Historic Places for its distinctive Queen Anne architecture.

Trinity Methodist Episcopal Church is a historic former church building at 69 Main Street in New Britain, Connecticut. Built in 1891 to a design by Amos P. Cutting, it is a distinctive local example of Richardsonian Romanesque architecture. Now a performing arts venue known as Trinity-on-Main, it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2007.

The South Congregational Church is a historic church at 90 Main Street in New Britain, Connecticut. It is a large brownstone Gothic Revival structure, located at a central intersection in the city's heart. The church was built in 1865, with the parish house added in 1889. Both were designed by the noted Boston architect George F. Meacham. The congregation was established in 1842, and was merged with First Baptist Church in 1974. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Walnut Hill District is a historic district encompassing a predominantly residential area southwest of downtown New Britain, Connecticut. Roughly bounded by Walnut Hill Park and the New Britain General Hospital, as well as West Main, Main, Arch, and Hart Streets, the area mirrors in residential architecture the growth of the city as an industrial center between 1840 and 1930. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1975.

Downtown New Britain is a bus rapid transit station and the terminus of the CTfastrak line, located just south of Route 72 off Columbus Boulevard and Main Street in New Britain, Connecticut. It opened with the line on March 28, 2015. The station consists of one side platform and one island platform, comprising a collective total of 19 bus bays for CTfastrak local and express services, plus local CT Transit buses which do not use the busway. The station is located at the site of New Britain's former railroad station, which saw service from 1850 to 1960.

The Commercial Trust Company Building, also known locally as the Anvil Building, and now The Apartments at Anvil Place, is a historic commercial building at 55 West Main Street in downtown New Britain, Connecticut. Built in 1927, it is a distinctive example of Romanesque Revival architecture with Gothic features. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2009, and is a contributing property to the Downtown New Britain historic district.

The City Hall-Monument District encompasses the city hall complex and central municipal park of New Britain, Connecticut. A prominent part of the city's downtown business district, the city hall is an architecturally distinguished former hotel, while the park includes a substantial Beaux Arts Civil War memorial. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1973.

The Burritt Hotel was a historic hotel at 67 West Main Street in New Britain, Connecticut, United States. Built in the 1920s to attract business travelers, it was the city's most luxurious hotel. It is now Burritt House, an affordable housing complex. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

The New Britain Opera House, also known as the Palace Theater, was a performance venue and movie house on Main Street in downtown New Britain, Connecticut. Built in 1880, it was a prominent local example of Renaissance Revival architecture, serving as an entertainment venue for about a century. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977. It has since been demolished as part of local urban renewal.

Tephereth Israel Synagogue is a synagogue at 76 Winter Street in downtown New Britain, Connecticut. The Orthodox congregation, founded in 1925, meets at a two-story brick temple with Colonial Revival and Renaissance features, designed by Hartford architect Adolf Feinberg and built in 1925. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1995.
