Circular Quay is a harbour, former working port and now international passenger shipping port, public piazza and tourism precinct, heritage area, and transport node located in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia on the northern edge of the Sydney central business district on Sydney Cove, between Bennelong Point and The Rocks. It is part of the local government area of the City of Sydney.The Circular Quay area is a popular neighbourhood for tourism and consists of walkways, pedestrian malls, parks and restaurants. It hosts a number of ferry quays, bus stops, and a railway station. Often referred to as the "gateway to Sydney", the precinct has views of the Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Sydney Opera House and is a common location for viewing Sydney New Year's Eve fireworks.

It is served by Sydney Trains T2 Inner West & Leppington, T3 Bankstown and T8 Airport & South line services.

Customs House, Sydney is a heritage-listed museum space, visitor attraction, commercial building and performance space located in the Circular Quay area at 45 Alfred Street, in the Sydney central business district, in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia. The building served as a customs house prior to Federation and then as the head office of New South Wales operations of the Government of Australia agency Department of Trade and Customs (and its successors) until 1988. The customs function relocated to a new site in 1990. The initial designs were by Mortimer Lewis and it was built during 1845 by under the administration of Governor Sir George Gipps. It is also known as Customs House (former) and Site of former Customs House. The site was added to the Commonwealth Heritage List on 22 June 2004; and to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.Ownership was transferred to the City of Sydney Council in 1994, when it became a venue for exhibitions and private functions. After being refurbished in 2003, it has also become the new home of the City of Sydney Library. The ground floor of the building houses a 4.2-by-9.5-metre (14 ft × 31 ft) scale model of Sydney's city centre viewed through a glass floor. The model was built by Modelcraft in 1998 and weighs one tonne. Images of the various versions of the building across its history are also displayed on the ground floor.

1 Macquarie Place (also known as Gateway Plaza) is an iconic Sydney skyscraper on Macquarie Place in Central Business District of Sydney, Australia.Designed by architect Peddle, Thorp & Walker, the blue glass-clad commercial office building reaches 46 storeys or 164 metres (538 ft) to the top of its spire, and it is very prominent on the Circular Quay waterfront. The tower contains about 470,000 square feet (44,000m²) of office space.

The Jessie Street Gardens is an urban park in Loftus Street, in the Sydney central business district, near Circular Quay, Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The park is named in honour of Jessie Street, a leading Australian women's rights activist. The park was developed in 1989 from empty land remaining after the demolition of the Goldsborough Mort wool brokers building. It was provisionally named Gateway Park. When the official naming of the park was discussed, two suggestions were made: Street, and Mary Reibey. The Geographical Names Board of New South Wales approved Street's name and the park was duly renamed in 1990.The gardens were officially opened on 7 December 1990 by Lady Candy Bingham, the wife of Jeremy Bingham, the Lord Mayor of Sydney at the time. Street's son Sir Laurence Street was also present. Within the gardens stand the Pioneer Women's Memorial, and the NSW Ex-Servicewomen’s Memorial.

Hinchcliff House is a heritage-listed former wool store, hostel for homeless men and university campus at 5–7 Young Street, Sydney, City of Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. The southern section was built c. 1860, while the northern section was built in the 1880s. It is also known as Hinchcliff's Woolstore, Ozanam House and EF House. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 2 April 1999.

The Sydney Cove Railings are heritage-listed railings located at the Circular Quay Concourse, Circular Quay East and West, in the inner city Sydney suburbs of Dawes Point, The Rocks and the Sydney central business district, in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia. It was built from 1900. It is also known as Part of Sydney Cove. The property is owned by Property NSW, an agency of the Government of New South Wales. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 10 May 2002.

The 1947 Sydney hailstorm was a natural disaster which struck Sydney, Australia, on 1 January 1947. The storm cell developed on the morning of New Year's Day, a public holiday in Australia, over the Blue Mountains, hitting the city and dissipating east of Bondi in the mid-afternoon. At the time, it was the most severe storm to strike the city since recorded observations began in 1792.The high humidity, temperatures and weather patterns of Sydney increased the strength of the storm. The cost of damages from the storm were, at the time, approximately GB£750,000 (US$3 million); this is the equivalent of around A$45 million in modern figures. The supercell dropped hailstones larger than 8 centimetres (3.1 in) in diameter, with the most significant damage occurring in the central business district and eastern suburbs of Sydney.The event caused around 1000 injuries, with between 200 and 350 people requiring hospitalisation or other medical attention, predominantly caused by broken glass shards. The majority of severe injuries reported were suffered by people on Sydney's beaches, where many were without shelter. The size of the hailstones were the largest seen in Sydney for 52 years, until the 1999 Sydney hailstorm caused A$1.7 billion in insured damage in becoming the costliest natural disaster in Australian history.

Sydney Cove West Archaeological Precinct is a heritage-listed precinct that contains The Rocks police station, the Museum of Contemporary Art Australia, car park, parks, shops and roads located at 112-156 George Street, in the inner city Sydney suburb of The Rocks in the City of Sydney local government area of New South Wales, Australia. The precinct previously contained a commissariat store, Maritime Services Board offices, dockyard and Department of Labour & Industry offices. Buildings in the precinct were developed in various stages since 1797 to date, with heritage-listed buildings dating from 1797 to 1939. The precinct is also known as the Museum of Contemporary Art, Maritime Services Board, Colonial Government naval dockyard, Commissariat Stores, Colonial Hospital, Kings and Queens Wharf and First Fleet Park. The property is owned by Property NSW, an agency of the Government of New South Wales. It was added to the New South Wales State Heritage Register on 5 August 2011.
