Old Moat is a suburban area of Manchester, England. The population of its electoral ward at the 2011 census was 14,490.

Manchester Withington is a constituency represented in the House of Commons of the UK Parliament since 2015 by Jeff Smith of Labour. Of the 30 seats with the highest percentage of winning majority in 2017, the seat ranks 25th with a 55.7% margin, and is the only one of the twenty nine of these seats won by the Labour Party in which the second-placed candidate was a Liberal Democrat, rather than Conservative. This is despite being a Conservative seat right up to 1987, then becoming relatively safely Labour, then Liberal Democrat from 2005 to 2015 before they lost on a large swing in 2015, after which Smith substantially increased his majority.

In 2020, a mural of footballer Marcus Rashford by street artist Akse P19 was painted in the Withington area of Manchester, United Kingdom. The mural was created in recognition of the work Rashford did during the COVID-19 pandemic in the United Kingdom to help tackle child food poverty. After Rashford had missed a penalty kick for England in the UEFA Euro 2020 Final in July 2021, the mural was vandalised, prompting locals to post messages of support for Rashford before its restoration.

Cine City (originally named the Scala Cinema) was a cinema in Withington, Manchester, England located at 494 Wilmslow Road, Withington, Manchester, M20 3BG. It opened in 1912 as The Scala, and was the third cinema to open in Britain. When the popularity of picture houses reached its peak in the 1930s, The Scala was one of 109 cinemas in Manchester. During the Second World War, the cinema escaped with minor damage when the road outside was hit by a small bomb in 1940. After the war, television led to a decline in cinema attendances, and by 1965, only 40 cinemas remained in Manchester. Cine City closed in July 2001, making it the third-longest running cinema in England. By 2005 the building was in a bad state of repair, and was threatened with demolition. Although heritage groups won a stay of execution, the cinema was demolished in spring 2008. A new residential building has been constructed on the site.

Withington has a population of just over 14,000 people, reducing at the 2011 census to 13,422.In the early 13th century, Withington occupied a feudal estate that included the townships of Withington, Chorlton-cum-Hardy, Moss Side, Rusholme, Burnage, Denton and Haughton, held by the Hathersage, Longford and Tatton families, and within the Manor of Manchester and Hundred of Salford in historic county boundaries of Lancashire.Withington was largely rural until the mid-19th century when it experienced rapid socioeconomic development and urbanisation due to the Industrial Revolution, and Manchester's growing level of industrialisation. Withington became part of Manchester in 1904.Today, the residents of Withington comprise a mixture of families, university students and affluent "young professionals"—often themselves former students. This is in a large part due to its education links—particularly the proximity to the University of Manchester and Manchester Metropolitan University. As a consequence, Withington is predominantly an area of mixed affluence. It is also a centre for clinical excellence with one of the largest cancer treatment centres in Europe—Christie Hospital—and Withington Community Hospital.

St Paul's Church, Withington is a Grade II listed Church of England parish church in the suburb of Withington, Manchester, in the United Kingdom. It is located on Wilmslow Road, and has an associated Church of England primary school. Worship at St Paul's consists of traditional Holy Communion (Book of Common Prayer and Common Worship) and occasional services of Choral Evensong or evening prayer in support of L'Arche in Manchester.

Burton Road is a stop on the South Manchester Line of Greater Manchester's light rail Metrolink system. It is located on Burton Road, on the border of the suburbs of Withington and West Didsbury in Manchester, England. The tram stop was opened on 23 May 2013. It was built in a cutting on a section of abandoned railway which was re-opened for light rail operation. The line was originally opened in 1880 as the Manchester South District Line, which ran trains from Manchester Central railway station. The route was closed in 1967, but was re-opened in the 21st century as part of the Metrolink network. Trams now run from East Didsbury through Burton Road to Manchester city centre tram stops and on to Rochdale Town Centre.

Withington and West Didsbury railway station (previously named Withington railway station and Withington & Albert Park railway station) is a former station in West Didsbury, in the southern suburbs of Manchester, England, United Kingdom. The station was located on Lapwing Lane, close to the junction with Palatine Road and opposite Withington Town Hall. Nothing now remains of the old station buildings, which have been demolished. West Didsbury is now served by West Didsbury tram stop which is approximately 85 metres (279 ft) further down the line from the original railway station.

Greens was a restaurant at 41 to 43 Lapwing Lane in West Didsbury. An existing vegetarian restaurant, Greens was reopened in 1990 by Simon Rimmer and Simon Connolly after they spotted it in a pub, and Rimmer became its chef after discovering that they could not afford to hire someone. The restaurant appeared in the AA guide for 31 of the next 33 years, became the first purely vegetarian restaurant to appear in The Good Food Guide, and has appeared on a number of 'best of' lists, with MasterChef winner Simon Wood spending a period cooking there between winning and setting up his own restaurant. A sister restaurant opened in Sale, Greater Manchester, in July 2022, which remained open after the West Didsbury branch closed in 2024 as part of a cost-of-living crisis.
