Academy at Penguin Hall

Long Hill is a 114-acre (0.46 km2) estate in Beverly, Massachusetts and is managed by the Trustees of Reservations. From 1916 to 1979, the estate was the summer home of Ellery Sedgwick, author and editor of The Atlantic Monthly. The estate contains a Federal style home with formal gardens, 2 miles (3.2 km) of hiking trails, woodlands, meadows and an apple orchard. The 5 acres (2.0 ha) of cultivated gardens and 100 acres (40 ha) of woodland grounds are open to the public daily. Until 2017, the Long Hill mansion was used as the main office of The Trustees. In that year, a new headquarters was established in Boston. In 2021, a $6 million project to renovate the house and restore the gardens was started.

The Samuel Corning House is a historic First Period house in Beverly, Massachusetts. It is a 2.5-story five-bay house with a central chimney that was apparently built in stages, and is also notable for early 20th century preservation actions. The first portion, to the right of the chimney, was built c. 1700 as a typical First Period two story single cell structure. Around 1720 the left side was built, and a leanto section was added to the back at a somewhat later date. The house was purchased in 1920 by Quincy Adams Shaw McKean and Margarett Sargent, who made it the centerpiece of Colonial Revival complex they built on their 54-acre (22 ha) estate, which they named "Pride's Hill". Their architect, Joseph D. Leland of Boston, expanded the house with a group of vernacular wings to the north and east of the original. The first addition, a studio for Margarett Sargent, was built in 1921, with further additions continuing for much of the decade. Leland's work on the estate was the subject of a feature article in Architectural Record in 1926. The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990. It is now a condominium complex, still known as Pride's Hill.

The Capt. John Thorndike House is a historic First Period house in Beverly, Massachusetts. It is a 2.5-story wood-frame house with a central chimney and a raised leanto section in back. The house, like many First Period houses, was built in several stages. The oldest part, the chimney and the right side, was built as a two-story section with leanto, likely in 1702 (based on the date being carved on one of the framing posts). This particular type of original sections is rare among First Period houses. Later in the first period the left side of the house was built, but without a leanto section. The left side leanto was added later in the 18th century, and part of the leanto section was raised by a shed dormer in the 19th century.The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The 1908 U.S. Open was the fourteenth U.S. Open, held August 27–29 at Myopia Hunt Club in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, northeast of Boston. Fred McLeod defeated 1899 champion Willie Smith in an 18-hole playoff to win his only major title.High winds on Thursday caused scores in the first two rounds to soar, with only two players managing to break 80. Willie Smith carded rounds of 77-82 for a three-stroke lead over Myopia club pro John Jones, with brother Alec Smith four back and Fred McLeod five behind.On Friday, Smith struggled to an 85 in the third round in the morning but still held the lead by one over McLeod and two over Alex. In the final round that afternoon, McLeod tied for lowest score of the tournament by carding a 77, while Smith managed a 78 to force a playoff.In the playoff on Saturday, McLeod and Smith were even through 13 holes, but McLeod took the lead at the 14th after Smith missed a par putt. McLeod dominated the rest of the way, going 1-under on the last five holes to shoot a 77 to Smith's 83. McLeod only broke 80 in one round of the tournament, while Smith and Gilbert Nicholls were the only players to shoot in the 70s twice. The winning score of 322 was the third-highest in U.S. Open history.

The 1898 U.S. Open was the fourth U.S. Open, held June 17–18 at Myopia Hunt Club in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, northeast of Boston. Fred Herd captured his only major title, seven strokes ahead of runner-up Alex Smith.For the first time, the U.S. Open was expanded to 72 holes, meaning the players had to complete eight loops around Myopia's 9-hole course. Herd trailed leader Willie Anderson by six shots after 36 holes on Friday, but his 75 in the third round on Saturday morning was the low round of the championship and gave him a six-shot advantage after 54 holes. Despite an 84 in the afternoon for 328, Herd prevailed over Alex Smith by seven, with Anderson finishing in third. Only Herd and Smith managed to break 80 in any round of the championship.Herd's fondness for liquor was well-known; after his win, tournament officials required him to leave a deposit to prevent him from selling the trophy for drinking money. His brother Sandy won The Open Championship in 1902.

Myopia Hunt Club is a foxhunting and private country club in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, northeast of Boston. In the early years of the U.S. Open, the club hosted it four times: 1898, 1901, 1905, and 1908.

The 1905 U.S. Open was the 11th U.S. Open, held September 21–22 at Myopia Hunt Club in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, northeast of Boston. Willie Anderson won his third consecutive U.S. Open title, and his record fourth overall, two strokes ahead of runner-up Alex Smith.Smith was the co-leader with Stewart Gardner at 156 after the first 36 holes on Thursday. Following the third round on Friday morning, Smith led Anderson by a shot, but a third consecutive 80 in the afternoon dropped him to second place. Five strokes back after the second round, Anderson closed with 76 and 77 for 314, two strokes ahead of Smith. Scoring conditions at Myopia were very difficult; the lowest score posted was 75, by 1897 champion Joe Lloyd in the opening round. His next best was 83 in the third round. Anderson's feat of three consecutive U.S. Open titles remains unmatched, while his four wins were later equaled by three others: Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, and Jack Nicklaus. Anderson played in the next five editions with three top-five finishes and was eleventh in his last appearance in 1910; he died four months later at age 31.

The 1901 U.S. Open was the seventh U.S. Open, held June 14–17 at Myopia Hunt Club in South Hamilton, Massachusetts, northeast of Boston. Willie Anderson won the first of his four U.S. Open titles in a playoff over Alex Smith.Smith led after the first two rounds on Friday at 164, with Anderson three strokes back in third place. After the third round on Saturday morning, Stewart Gardner led at 249, with Anderson a stroke behind and Smith one back in third at 251. Garder had an 85 in the afternoon and fell to fourth. Both Anderson and Smith posted total scores of 331, the highest winning score in U.S. Open history, with Smith narrowly missing a putt at the 18th to win the championship in regulation.The playoff, the first in U.S. Open history, was pushed back to Monday because Sunday was reserved for member play. Smith jumped out to a three-stroke lead at the turn and led by five shots with fives holes to play. He went 5-7-5-4 over the next four holes, while Anderson recorded all fours to even up the match. At the 18th, Anderson found the green in two while Smith's approach landed in the rough. Anderson two-putted for his four, while Smith chipped to four feet (1.2 m) with a chance to tie, but his putt went astray and failed to find the cup. Anderson finished with an 85, a stroke better than Smith.Smith's brother Willie, the 1899 champion, finished in third place, two shots out of the playoff. Myopia club pro John Jones was twelfth, then caddied for Anderson during the playoff. For the only time in U.S. Open history, no player managed to break 80 in any round.Anderson would go on to win a record four U.S. Open titles in five years, including three consecutive (1903–1905), yet to be repeated. His four titles have been matched by three others: Bobby Jones, Ben Hogan, and Jack Nicklaus.

According to the Association of Theological Schools, Gordon-Conwell ranks as one of the largest evangelical seminaries in North America in terms of total number of full-time students enrolled.

The Woodberry-Quarrels House is a historic First Period house in Hamilton, Massachusetts. The oldest part of this 2.5-story, seven-bay wood-frame house is the central doorway and the rooms to its right, which were built c. 1690 along with a central chimney that was probably removed during Federal-period alterations. Later in the First Period rooms to the left of the entry were added, and there have been a series of alterations and additions since then. The First Period core of the house survived the major Federal-era changes, and the house retains much decorative work from that period.The house was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.

The Brown House is a historic First Period house in Hamilton, Massachusetts. Built in the 1660s or 1670s, it is one of the oldest surviving houses in Essex County. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990.
