Greenwich Point

The Feake–Ferris House (also known as the Ross Ferris House) at 181 Shore Road in Old Greenwich, Connecticut was purportedly built around 1645 and was expanded over time to its present saltbox shape. The house was tested by dendrochronologists at Columbia University's Lamont–Doherty Earth Observatory. The client, Greenwich Point Conservancy (GPC), has not yet released the results of the study, but claims that the west side of the house dates to circa 1645, the north lean-to addition made by Jeffrey Ferris to 1660, and the east side and expansion of the lean-to the James Ferris expansion of 1689. According to the Conservancy, as reported in Greenwich Free Press, the outermost rings of one summer beam dated to 1610, but due to the lack of sapwood in the sample, the precise date of the beam is unknown (but possibly 1640 or perhaps the 1680s). Historian Missy Wolf researched the land's title history dating back to Feake.

The Lauder Greenway Estate is a 50-acre (20 ha) private property with a French Renaissance mansion in Greenwich, Connecticut. For a time, it was the most expensive home in the history of the United States.Built for industrialist John Hamilton Gourlie in 1896, it was purchased by the Lauder Greenway Family in 1905 and would stay in that family's hands for a majority of its existence. It is the largest surviving Gilded Age mansion in Connecticut.

The Riverside Avenue Bridge is the only cast-iron bridge in Connecticut and one of a small number still in use in the United States. It carries Riverside Avenue over the New Haven Line railroad tracks in the Riverside section of Greenwich, Connecticut. The bridge was part of an earlier span built in 1871 over the Housatonic River by the New York and New Haven Railroad, and when that bridge was replaced, part of it was erected in Riverside in 1895. It was placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1977.Called "an important engineering landmark" by Cultural Resource Management, a periodical published by the National Park Service, the bridge carries one of the primary streets in this section of town, and is owned by the Connecticut state government.

Old Greenwich station is a commuter rail station served by the Metro-North Railroad New Haven Line, located in the Old Greenwich neighborhood of Greenwich, Connecticut. The station has two side platforms, each ten cars long, which serve the outer tracks of the four-track Northeast Corridor.

The Mianus River Railroad Bridge, also known as the Cos Cob Bridge, is a bascule drawbridge built in 1904 over the Mianus River, in Greenwich, Connecticut. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1987. The bridge carries the Northeast Corridor, the busiest rail line in the United States, both in terms of ridership and service frequency. It is operated by the Metro-North Railroad, successor to Conrail, Penn Central, and the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad, which erected it, and is owned by the Connecticut Department of Transportation. It is a rolling lift type moveable bridge, and was prefabricated by the American Bridge Company, to replace a previous unsafe bridge on the site. It has a total length of 1,059 feet (323 m), divided into 11 spans. Seven of these are deck truss spans, while the others are deck girder spans, all set on stone abutments. The main movable span is 107 feet (33 m) long; four of the truss spans are 120 feet (37 m) in length. It is one of eight moveable bridges on the Northeast Corridor through Connecticut surveyed in one multiple property study in 1986. The eight bridges from west to east are: this Mianus River Railroad Bridge, at Cos Cob, built in 1904; Norwalk River Railroad Bridge at South Norwalk, 1896; Saugatuck River Railroad Bridge at Westport, 1905; Pequonnock River Railroad Bridge at Bridgeport, 1902; Housatonic River Railroad Bridge, at Devon, 1905; Connecticut River Railroad Bridge, Old Saybrook-Old Lyme, 1907; Niantic River Bridge, East Lyme-Waterford, 1907; and Thames River Bridge (Amtrak), Groton, built in 1919. The Pequonnock River bridge—also on Metro-North's New Haven Line, as are the Norwalk, Westport, and Devon bridges—has since been replaced.

Cos Cob Power Station was a historic power station near the Metro-North Railroad tracks, the Mianus River and Sound Shore Drive in the Cos Cob area of Greenwich, Connecticut. The Spanish Revival style station building of 1907 was significant as part of the first mainline railroad electrification in the United States, using alternating current (AC) electrification. The New York City subway systems and a Hudson River railroad line used lower voltage direct current (DC) electrification, but for longer distances that would mean high transmission losses or frequent and closely spaced substations.: 11 A 1903 New York State law prohibited the use of steam locomotives in New York City. The New Haven line of the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad ran commuter trains into the city, and electrification all the way to New Haven would avoid massive congestion and delays to commuter trains if locomotives were changed at the New York City limits or at Stamford, CT. The "New Haven" chose AC electrification as proposed by Baldwin-Westinghouse, with locomotives which could operate on the third-rail DC system within city limits, and the AC system on the main line. The plant was built by Westinghouse in 1907 in Mission Style, and was located where the Mianus River empties into the Cos Cob Harbor of Long Island Sound. The plant used coal-fired steam turbines, and the three-phase alternators supplied single-phase power at 11 kV 25 Hz directly to the catenary. They also supplied power to the New York Central's Port Morris generating station to compensate the NYC for power consumed by New Haven trains on the NYC's third-rail supplied line to the Grand Central Terminal within the city limits. The station was designated a Historic Mechanical Engineering Landmark in 1982 by the American Society of Mechanical Engineers.The power station was decommissioned in 1986-87.The plant was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1990, but despite the listing and local and national debate, the plant was demolished in 2001. Part of the site is now a public park, and a plaque commemorating the plant is located at the nearby Cos Cob Railroad Station.

Indian Field is a census-designated place (CDP) in the town of Greenwich, Fairfield County, Connecticut, United States. It is in the southern part of the town, on a peninsula between Indian Harbor to the west and Cos Cob Harbor to the east. It extends south into Captain Harbor, an inlet of Long Island Sound, and it extends north as far as U.S. Route 1 (East Putnam Avenue). Interstate 95 crosses the CDP, with access from Exit 4 (Indian Field Road). Indian Field was first listed as a CDP prior to the 2020 census.

Stamford Harbor Ledge Lighthouse is a lighthouse in Connecticut, United States, on Chatham Rock off of Stamford, Connecticut. It was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1991.The interior of the structure has seven levels. The upper balcony boasts sweeping views of the Stamford and Manhattan skylines, as well as Long Island Sound and Stamford Harbor. The lighthouse is accessed by a floating dock.
