Tawney Common

Colliers Hatch, is a hamlet in the civil parish of Stapleford Tawney in the Epping Forest district of the county of Essex, England. It is approximately 2 miles (3 km) east of Epping, 3.5 miles (6 km) west of Chipping Ongar and 7 miles (11 km) north of Romford. Colliers Hatch is 0.5 miles (0.8 km) north of the hamlet of Tawney Common, also in the Stapleford Tawney parish.The hamlet measures 0.25 hectares (0.62 acres) and is mostly a collection of scattered houses and farms. As of 2017, there is an estimated average population of 30. The hamlet is governed locally by Stapleford Tawney parish council.

Theydon Mount is a village and civil parish in the Epping Forest district of the county of Essex, England. The village is notable for the Grade I listed Elizabethan mansion, Hill Hall.

Hill Hall is an Elizabethan mansion located in Theydon Mount near Epping, Essex, England. Although owned by English Heritage, the building consists of many private apartments. It is a grade I listed building.The importance of Hill Hall lies in two features. Firstly, it has some of the earliest classical decoration on any surviving building in Britain - the tiers of columns and friezes on the courtyard walls and the use of 'giant' column (that is, rising through two storeys) on the exterior facades. Secondly, the 1969 fire destroyed most of the interiors but not, miraculously, a series of wall paintings on the first floor completed more or less when the house was built in the late 16th century. There are an unusual survival of classically inspired mural paintings.

North Weald railway station is on the Epping Ongar Railway, a heritage railway, located in North Weald, Essex. The station was opened in 1865 by the Great Eastern Railway, on its extension from Loughton to Ongar. It was latterly a Central line station on the London Underground between Epping and Blake Hall stations. The section beyond Epping to Ongar closed in 1994.

Weald Common Flood Meadows is a 1.9 hectare Local Nature Reserve in North Weald Bassett in Essex. It is owned and managed by Epping Forest District Council.The site consists of two meadows created for flood defence, and managed for biodiversity with the creation of a wet meadow, which is dominated by flowers such as cowslips and ragged robin. Newts and frogs breed in ponds and ditches, and grass snakes and common lizard bask on sunny days.There is access to the southern area from a track off the High Road next to the village hall, but no public access to the northern area.

Roughtalley's Wood is a 3.4 hectare Local Nature Reserve in Theydon Garnon parish in Essex, England. It is owned and managed by Epping Forest District Council.Part of this site is ancient woodland of hornbeam, oak and silver birch, with an understorey which is mainly hazel and hawthorn. The other part is younger woodland which has wildflower glades with orchids such as broad-leaved helleborines, bee orchids and common spotted orchids. There are fauna such as slowworms and grass snakes.There is access from Pike Way.

Toot Hill is a village in the Stanford Rivers civil parish in the Epping Forest district of Essex, England. It is 2.3 miles (4 km) south-west of Chipping Ongar and 3.5 miles (6 km) east of Epping. Toot Hill is less than a mile from the small hamlet of Clatterford End. The Toot Hill Country Show (held a short distance away at Stanford Rivers) has taken place each year since 1953.

The Epping Ongar Railway is a heritage railway in south-west Essex, England, run by a small number of paid staff and a team of volunteers. It was the final section of the Great Eastern Railway branch line, later the London Underground's Central line from Loughton via Epping to Ongar, with intermediate stations at North Weald and Blake Hall. The line was closed by London Underground in 1994 and sold in 1998. It reopened between 2004 and 2007 as a preserved railway, offering a volunteer-run Class 117 DMU service between Ongar and Coopersale. A change of ownership in 2007 led to the line being closed for restoration to a heritage steam railway, which opened on 25 May 2012.

North Weald Bassett, or simply North Weald, is a village and civil parish in the Epping Forest district of Essex, England. The village is within the North Weald Ridges and Valleys landscape area. A market is held every Saturday and Bank Holiday Monday at North Weald Airfield. The market used to be the largest open air market in the country but reduced its size over the years.

Dial House is a farm cottage situated in south-west Essex, England that has been a self-sustaining anarcho-pacifist open house since 1967. The house is located in the countryside of Epping Forest in Ongar Great Park. It has been used as a base for a number of cultural, artistic, and political projects ranging from avant-garde jazz events to helping found the free festival movement. Perhaps the best-known manifestation of the public face of Dial House was the anarcho-punk band Crass. Following the DIY punk ethic, Crass combined the use of song, film, sound collage, and graphics to launch a critical polemic against a mainstream which they considered to be built on foundations of war, religion, and consumerism.
