Eppleby

Forcett is a village in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England. It lies near the border with County Durham, on the B6274 road about 8 miles south of Staindrop. Nearby villages include Eppleby, Caldwell and Aldbrough.

Stanwick Iron Age Fortifications (also known as 'Stanwick Camp'), a huge Iron Age hill fort, sometimes but not always considered an oppidum, comprising over 9 kilometres (5.6 mi) of ditches and ramparts enclosing approximately 300 hectares (740 acres) of land, are situated in Richmondshire, North Yorkshire, England. Whether Stanwick was the stronghold of Venutius or Cartimandua, or perhaps of them both for a brief time before their acrimonious split some time after 51 AD, it is certain that this settlement was one of the most important in Brigantia, the Brigantes kingdom during the early stages of the Roman occupation of Britain. The site is a scheduled monument.

St John the Baptist's Church is a redundant Anglican church in the village of Stanwick St John, North Yorkshire, England. It is recorded in the National Heritage List for England as a designated Grade I listed building, and is under the care of the Churches Conservation Trust. The site of the church is recognised as a Scheduled Monument, and it stands within the earthworks of Stanwick Camp, a settlement originating in the early Iron Age.

Carkin is a civil parish in North Yorkshire, England. It was created from the separation of the parish of Forcett and Carkin into "Carkin" and "Forcett" in 2015.

Gainford Hall is a privately owned Jacobean manor house at Gainford, County Durham. It is a Grade I listed building but as of 2014 is registered as a Building at Risk. The house was built about 1603 to a design possibly by architect Robert Smythson for Rev John Cradock, Vicar of Gainford. The upper storey was never fully completed internally and the east wing staircase was not built. The property was much restored in the 19th century. Cradock was appointed Archdeacon of Northumberland in 1604 and Chancellor to the Bishop of Durham in 1619. William Cradock bought an estate at Hartforth, near Richmond, Yorkshire in 1720 and thereafter junior members of the family lived at Gainford. Marmaduke Cradock died at the Hall at the age of 90 in 1836. A 17th-century dovecote in the grounds is Grade II listed and also a Building at Risk. The present owners Raby Estates have restored the old coach house and converted it to residential use.

East Layton is a village and civil parish in the Richmondshire district of North Yorkshire, England, close to the border with County Durham and a few miles west of Darlington. The racehorse Crisp is interred there.
