St. Andrew's United Reformed Church is a 19th-century United Reformed church located in the Roath area of Cardiff, Wales. The church is situated on the corner of Wellfield Road and Malborough Road, with some referring to it as the 'church on the corner'. The church covers the ministry areas of Roath and Penylan.

St Edward's Church is a Church in Wales church in Penylan, Cardiff, South Wales. It is a daughter church of St Margaret's Church, Roath, the only one remaining in use after the closure of St Anne's in 2015.

Plasnewydd (meaning New Manor or New Place in English) is an electoral ward (and formerly the name of a community) of Cardiff, Wales. It falls within the parliamentary constituency of Cardiff Central. It is bounded by the electoral wards of Cyncoed (Roath Park) to the north; Penylan to the northeast; Adamsdown (main Newport Road) to the southwest; and Cathays (Cardiff to Caerphilly railway) to the west. It covers what is now the community of Roath. The ward population taken at the 2011 census was 18,166.

Penylan is a district and community in the east of Cardiff, the capital city of Wales, known for its Edwardian era period houses and spacious tree lined roads and avenues. Situated to both the north and south of the A48 dual carriageway, it is one of the most affluent districts of Cardiff, although subdivision of the large Victorian period properties is starting to occur in the areas at the south end of the ward, mimicking the trend in neighbouring Plasnewydd. Penylan has a number of large parks, including the southern part of Roath Park, and is one of the greenest areas in Cardiff. It is served by Penylan Library. Penylan Synagogue was opened in 1955, and closed in 2003 when a new synagogue had been built in nearby Cyncoed Gardens.

The Gate Arts Centre (often just referred to as the Gate) is an arts centre and community building located in Keppoch Street, Roath, Cardiff. The Gate is in a Grade 2 listed building (in what was formerly the Plasnewydd Presbyterian Church) and was opened in September 2004.

Cardiff East was a parliamentary constituency in Cardiff which returned one Member of Parliament to the House of Commons of the Parliament of the United Kingdom from 1918 until it was abolished for the 1950 general election.

City Road (Welsh: Heol y Plwca) runs through the Plasnewydd area of Cardiff, Wales. Designated as the B4261, it runs roughly 1 km (0.6 mi) south-southeasterly from the junction of Crwys Road (A469) and Albany Road (known as "Death Junction"), to Newport Road (A4161). It is mostly lined with small shops and business premises. City Road had its own television series, broadcast on BBC Wales.

Roath Library is a Grade II listed building on Newport Road, Cardiff, on the border of the Roath and Adamsdown districts. In 2014 the library closed for repairs, and in 2015 it was decided to close the library permanently.The Roath Branch Library was designed by architects Teather & Wilson and built between 1900 and 1901 on a triangular site bounded by Newport Road, Four Elms Road and Clifton Street. The red brick building with bathstone dressing was extended eastwards in 1936. It was completely refurbished in 1992/3.In 1997 the library building became Grade II listed, as a good example of its type. It forms a valuable group with nearby church buildings.In the early 2010s the library was threatened with closure. It shut in November 2014 with the Cardiff Council claiming they were to carry out repairs. Despite a council meeting in February 2015 reversing some funding cuts to the library budget, in May 2015 it was announced the repair bill was too high and the library would close permanently. The books and computers were removed later in the year, though the council said they would keep ownership of the building if a community group was able to take over responsibility for running it. In the meantime, a mobile library van was to provide a service to the area.

St Margaret's Church (dedicated to St Margaret of Antioch) is a nineteenth-century Church in Wales parish church in the suburb of Roath, Cardiff, Wales. It includes the mausoleum of the Marquises of Bute.
