Shorthill is a small village in Shropshire, England. It is located just off the A488, near to Hanwood and Arscott, within Pontesbury civil parish. Shorthill contains a Victorian red-brick towered church (now closed as place of worship), at Lea Cross.

Pontesford is a small village in Shropshire, England. It is located on the A488 outside the large village of Pontesbury, southwest of Shrewsbury. The population as taken at the 2011 census can be found under Pontesbury. It approximates to the northern extremity of the Pontesford-Linley geological fault, which trends approximately 11 miles to Linley near Bishops Castle. On 2 April 1990, the Pontesford-Linley Fault - registered an earthquake with a magnitude of 5.1 on the Richter scale, known as the Bishop's Castle earthquake. Coal was mined there in the 19th century.

The Minsterley branch was a short railway line that ran from Cruckmeole Junction on the Cambrian Line just south of Shrewsbury to Minsterley in Shropshire. The six-and-a-half mile standard gauge line was the only section built of a plan to connect Shrewsbury with mid Wales. It was part of a joint venture between the Great Western Railway and London and North Western Railway companies.

Mary Webb School and Science College is a coeducational secondary school located in Pontesbury, Shropshire, England. Founded in 1957, it was originally titled Pontesbury Secondary Modern School. In 1977, following the abolition of the tripartite system, the school became a comprehensive school. The Mary Webb School, named after the novelist and poet of the same name, was designated a specialist Science College in 2003. Previously a community school administered by Shropshire Council, in January 2019 Mary Webb School converted to academy status. The school is now sponsored by the Central Shropshire Academy Trust.

Arscott is a small hamlet in Shropshire, England. It is near to Plealey, Shorthill and Annscroft and within the civil parish of Pontesbury.The hamlet is spread out along Pound Lane and has a number of Victorian cottages associated with the local farms or coal mines working as early as 1838, the last closing in 1919.Nearby is the hamlet of Arscott Villa, which adjoins Annscroft. There is an 18-hole golf course at Arscott, which opened in 1992 and is the home of the Arscott Golf Club.

Cruckmeole is a small hamlet in Shropshire, England. It is located on the A488, where a lane which connects Cruckmeole to the B4386 crossroads at Cruckton forms a three way junction near to Hanwood. It is within the civil parish of Pontesbury. The Cambrian Line railway passes close to the village on its way from Shrewsbury to the west Wales coast. There was a junction from which ran the Minsterley branch line, created in 1861, passing through Pontesbury and terminating in Minsterley but this closed, as a result of the Beeching Axe, in 1967. A residential school, Cruckton Hall, is located near the village. The building of a former primary school within the village, built 1872 but closed in 1969, now serves as Cruckton Village Hall. A Royal Mail post box is in a wall at the Cruckmeole junction. The Rea Brook, historically called the Meole Brook, flows through the village. John Wood Warter (1806-1878), antiquarian and cleric and editor of the works of Robert Southey, was born at Cruckmeole.

Nox is a hamlet in Shropshire, England, around a staggered junction on the B4386 road (historically a Roman Road) between the small villages of Cruckton and Yockleton, and south of Ford.Anciently in the parish of Pontesbury, Nox now lies mostly in the civil parish of Westbury; the parish boundaries of Westbury and of Pontesbury, which contains four of its houses, run through the hamlet. It is named after the Nock family, who owned what is now known as Nox House. It was initially recorded as an alehouse held by Richard Nock in 1653, that was later known as 'The Star and Ball' and was a regular meeting place of the Ford manorial court from 1674 to 1811. It was a butcher's shop in the 19th century before conversion to a private house. Nox also had a smithy, erected by John Nock in c.1668, that was 'still in business' in 1968.

Oaks is a village in Shropshire, England, southwest of Shrewsbury. The manor of Oaks is identified before the Norman Conquest, probably held with the adjacent Pontesbury and Wrentnall.

Pontesbury ( PONTS-bər-ee) is a village and civil parish in Shropshire, and is approximately eight miles southwest of Shrewsbury. In the 2011 census, the village had a population of 1,873 and the parish had a population of 3,227. The village of Minsterley is just over a mile further southwest. The A488 road runs through the village, on its way from Shrewsbury to Bishop's Castle. The Rea Brook flows close by to the north with the village itself nestling on the northern edge of the Shropshire Hills AONB. Shropshire County Council in their current Place Plan detail the development strategy and refer to Pontesbury and neighbouring Minsterley as towns.

The postcode begins SY5. It is within the civil parish of Pontesbury and the Shrewsbury and Atcham parliamentary constituency.

Yockleton railway station was a station in Yockleton, Shropshire, England. The station was opened in 1862 and closed in 1960.
