Bahçelievler, Ankara

The Bahçelievler massacre is the name given to the events of October 9, 1978 in Bahçelievler, Ankara, Turkey, when seven university students, members of the Workers' Party of Turkey, were assassinated by ultra-nationalists including Grey Wolves' leader Abdullah Çatlı, and Haluk Kırcı. The assailants, who were armed with a number of weapons, were reportedly surprised to find the "revolutionary" students unarmed in their apartment. Five of the students were killed in the apartment, and two were taken away by car and killed nearby.

Mebusevleri is a neighbourhood in Ankara, Turkey, located in Çankaya district of central Ankara. Mebusevleri, which means "Houses of Parliamentarians", is bordered by Anıttepe, Tandoğan and Beşevler neighbourhoods. In addition to these neighbourhoods it is bordered by the Anıtkabir, the mausoleum of Atatürk.

The Ankara Nuclear Research and Training Center (Turkish: Ankara Nükleer Araştırma ve Eğitim Merkezi), known as ANAEM, is a nuclear research and training center of Turkey. The organization was established on August 18, 2010 as a subunit of Turkish Atomic Energy Administration (Turkish: Türkiye Atom Enerjisi Kurumu, TAEK) in its campus at Ankara University's Faculty of Science situated in Beşevler neighborhood in central Ankara. The organization consists of three divisions, which are engaged in education, training and public relations on nuclear matters.

Ankara University (Turkish: Ankara Üniversitesi) is a public university in Ankara, the capital city of Turkey. It was the first higher education institution founded in Turkey after the formation of the republic in 1923.The university has 40 vocational programs, 120 undergraduate programs and 110 graduate programs.

Ayten Sokak (English: Ayten Street) is a notable and historical street in Mebusevleri (MP Houses) neighbourhood of Çankaya district in Ankara, Turkey. The street was the base of the parliament members from the Republican People's Party (CHP) and its leader and former President İsmet İnönü, who regularly visited the street for personal and official activities. Ayten Sokak is about 5 minutes from the city centre (Kizilay).

Gazi University (Turkish: Gazi Üniversitesi) is a public university primarily located in Ankara, Turkey. It was established in 1926 by Mustafa Kemal Atatürk as Gazi Teacher Training Institute. In 1982, it was reorganized by merging with the Bolu Academy of Engineering and Architecture, Ankara Academy of Economics and Commercial Sciences, the Ankara College of Technical Careers, the Ankara Girls' College of Technical Careers, and the Ankara State Academy of Engineering and Architecture to become a large metropolitan university as part of the act which created the Board of Higher Education. Prior to 1982 when the Board of Higher Education Law came into effect, institutes of higher education in Turkey were organized under different structures as universities, academies, institutes, and schools. In 1992 faculties and vocational schools in Bolu became Abant Izzet Baysal University. Gazi University comprises 21 faculties, 4 schools, 11 vocational schools of higher education, 52 research centers and 7 graduate institutes. The student enrollment of Gazi University has reached approximately 77,000 in total of whom about 1,500 come from the Turkic states of Central Asia. Five thousand students are enrolled in graduate programmes. The total size of the teaching faculty exceeds 3,000 persons.

Başkent Volleyball Hall, (Turkish: Başkent Voleybol Salonu) is an indoor volleyball venue within the TVF Sports Complex located at Beşevler neighborhood of Yenimahalle district in Ankara, Turkey. Opened in 2010, the venue has a seating capacity of 7,600 spectators.

Freedom Research Association (Turkish: Özgürlük Araştırmaları Derneği) is an Ankara-based public policy research organization (think-tank) with a mission to promote evidence-based policy-making and to help consolidate liberal institutions in Turkey. Founded in 2014, the think tank brings together distinguished political scientists, legal scholars, journalists and business people to publish original research and make an impact on public policy. FRA produces policy papers, reports and commentaries on various public policy issues including freedom of press, freedom of association and assembly, healthcare, regulations, structural reforms, checks and balance mechanisms, democratization, public alcohol policy, tax awareness, climate change. Besides, FRA acts as a watchdog organization strongly defending individual liberties, the rule of law and free market in Turkey. FRA operates as a roof organization for its three centers: 1. Center for Democracy and Rule of Law 2. Center for Economic Liberties 3. The Rule of Law Academy is a flagship project that reaches hundred of young legal practitioners every year. Also Structural Reforms in Turkey and Turkish Public Alcohol Policy Watch are among the newest projects of FRA.

Ankara Atatürk Anadolu Lisesi (Ankara Atatürk Anatolian High School), established in 1971, is one of the oldest Anatolian High Schools of Ankara and Turkey. It is located in the Beştepe neighborhood. The high school selects its students with the standardized test of National Anatolian High Schools Examination. It is one of the leading schools in Turkey performing significant success at the National University Entrance Examination. The current principal is Baki Gencer. The selective process is extremely picky. Only the top students, 0.4% from the standardized testing, can apply to the school, placing it amongst the best high schools in Turkey.

Anıtkabir is the mausoleum of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the leader of the Turkish War of Independence and the founder and the first President of Republic of Turkey. It is located in Ankara and was designed by architects Professor Emin Onat and Assistant Professor Ahmet Orhan Arda, whose proposal beat 48 other entries from several countries in a competition held by the Turkish Government in 1941 for a monument for Atatürk. The site is also the final resting place of İsmet İnönü, the second President of Turkey, who was interred there after he died in 1973. His tomb faces the Atatürk Mausoleum, on the opposite side of the Ceremonial Ground. The mausoleum was depicted on various Turkish banknotes during 1966–1987 and 1997–2009 and was included in the Turkish Chamber of Civil Engineers list of the fifty civil engineering feats in Turkey, a list of remarkable engineering projects realized in the first 50 years of the chamber.

Ankara Ice Skating Palace (Turkish: G.S.İ.M. Buz Pateni Sarayı, formerly Belpa Buz Pateni Sarayı) is an indoor ice skating and ice hockey arena located in the Bahçelievler neighborhood of Ankara, Turkey. It was opened in 1989 and has a capacity of about 1,150 people.It was built by the Municipality of Ankara as the first Olympic size 30 m × 60 m (98 ft × 197 ft) ice arena in Turkey. In 2001, the venue was handed over to the Youth and Sports Directorate (G.S.I.M.) of Ankara Province. Ankara Ice Palace is home to a variety of ice sports events in Ankara including Turkish ice hockey leagues for men's, women's and junior's. Between January 8 through January 14, 2007, the arena hosted the Division III matches of the World Junior Ice Hockey Championships.
