Llanfynydd railway station

Llanfynydd is a village, local government community and electoral ward in Flintshire, Wales. Its name is derived from the Welsh words llan ("enclosure" or "parish"), and mynydd ("mountain").

Ffrith railway station was a station in Ffrith, Flintshire, Wales. The station was opened on 2 May 1898 and closed on 27 March 1950.

North East Wales (Welsh: Gogledd-Ddwyrain Cymru) is an area or region of Wales, commonly defined as a grouping of the principal areas of Denbighshire, Flintshire, and Wrexham County Borough in the north-east of the country. These principal areas comprise most (excluding Colwyn, and parts of Glyndŵr) of the former administrative county of Clwyd. It is bordered by Conwy, and Gwynedd, in North West Wales to the west, Powys, in Mid Wales to the south, the English counties of Cheshire, and Shropshire to the east, and the Irish Sea, and Dee estuary to the north. It is the more urban, densely populated, and industrial part of the north Wales geographic region, centred on the city of Wrexham and the towns of Rhyl and Prestatyn, and the conurbation of Deeside. The region's close links with North West England in general and Merseyside in particular (together as the "Mersey-Dee" economic sub-region) are crucial to the region's economy. The Clwydian Range and Dee Valley Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty is located in the region. Other attractions include historical buildings such as Chirk Castle, and Erddig in Wrexham, valley towns such as Corwen and Llangollen, and the Pontcysyllte Aqueduct and Canal World Heritage Site.The North East Wales Metro is a transport improvement project for the region. It is in concept, a multi-modal system with a combination of bus, heavy rail and light rail services linking major settlements and employment areas of the region, with hubs located in Wrexham, Chester and Deeside, in addition to further connections to Liverpool. The economic strategy for the region is for the further integration of North Wales, with Northern England, as part of the Northern Powerhouse project. The main roads in the area are the A55, A494, and A483. On 22 November 2023, Wrexham and Flintshire were announced to be part of a "North East Wales Investment Zone".

A national park has been proposed to replace the Clwydian Range and Dee Valley AONB in the north-east of Wales. Proposals for the then Clwydian Range AONB, established in 1985, to become a national park were first raised in 2010. In the 2021 Senedd election, Welsh Labour committed to establishing Wales' fourth national park in the north-east. Following Labour forming the next Welsh Government, the government commissioned Natural Resources Wales to develop proposals for the new national park. The national park is hoped to be established before the next Senedd election in 2026, with further consultations to take place in 2024 and 2025. In December 2023, Powys County Council rejected proposals for the national park to extend into Powys.

Cymau is a small village situated in the community of Llanfynydd, Flintshire on the edge of the mountains of north-east Wales. Its name is the Welsh word cymau, a plural of cwm, "valley". The village is located on the side of Hope Mountain, a land feature that can be seen for miles around. Neighbouring villages include Ffrith to the west and Brymbo to the south. The nearest settlements are Wrexham to the south-east and Mold towards the north-west.The area is known for its scenery and hill-walking routes. The summit of Hope Mountain offers views of the Cheshire Plain and, in the opposite direction, it is possible to see sunsets behind the Welsh hills.The population of Cymau is around 350. The village had a pub (The Old Talbot Inn, now closed) and one parish church with a roof made from corrugated iron and also a chapel. The former village post office and general store closed in 2009.During the winter months, despite the local bus being occasionally unable to traverse the terrain, the village remains reasonably accessible.

Coed Talon (also spelt "Coed-talon") is a small, formerly industrial village between Leeswood and Treuddyn in Flintshire, Wales. Its name is derived from the Welsh word coed ("wood") and the word talwrn, anglicised to "Talon", meaning a "hillside devoid of trees" or "threshing-floor" (perhaps referring to a wood beneath a bare hillside).

Coed Talon railway station was a station in Coed Talon, Flintshire, Wales. The station was opened on 1 January 1892, closed to passengers on 27 March 1950 and closed completely on 22 July 1963.

Pentresaeson Halt railway station was a station in Bwlchgwyn, Wrexham, Wales. The station was opened on 20 March 1905 and closed on 1 January 1931.

Plas Teg is a Grade I listed Jacobean house in Wales. It is near the village of Pontblyddyn in Flintshire, between Wrexham and Mold. It is considered to be one of the finest examples of Jacobean architecture in Wales, and the finest in North Wales.

Brymbo West Crossing Halt railway station was a station in Brymbo, Wrexham, Wales. The station was opened on 20 March 1905 and closed on 1 January 1931.

Fferm (Welsh for "farm") Farmhouse is a small Elizabethan manor house, located to the east of Pontblyddyn in the county of Flintshire, Wales. It is listed as a grade I historic building, as 'an exceptionally fine example of a small manorial house', particularly because it retains much of its original sub-medieval detail and layout. It was likely built during the late 16th century by John Lloyd, one of the Lloyds of nearby Hartsheath Hall, who is recorded as having inhabited the house in the period between 1575 and 1625. The exterior of the house follows the vernacular style of other such local buildings like Pentrehobyn Hall near Mold. The house is now opened to the public on a regular basis.
