Food Sciences Building

The Farm House, also known as the Knapp–Wilson House, is the oldest building on the campus of Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. Now a museum open to the general public, this house was built 1861-65 as part of the model farm that eventually became Iowa State. It was designated a National Historic Landmark in 1964 for its association with agriculturist and teacher Seaman A. Knapp and with U.S. Secretary of Agriculture James Wilson, both of whom lived here while teaching at Iowa State.

Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences is one of eight colleges of Iowa State University of Science and Technology in Ames, Iowa. The University was founded in 1858 as the Iowa Agricultural College and Model Farm. On July 4, 1959, the school was renamed "Iowa State University of Science and Technology" and the College of Agriculture became one of five colleges (i.e., College of Agriculture, College of Engineering, College of Home Economics, College of Sciences and Humanities, and College of Veterinary Medicine). In 2007, the College of Agriculture was renamed "College of Agriculture and Life Sciences".

Iowa State University's Debbie and Jerry Ivy College of Business was established in 1984, and is accredited by AACSB International – The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business. The college consists of five departments offering nine bachelor's degrees and six post graduate degrees.

The Iowa State University Campanile is located on Iowa State's central campus, and is home to the Stanton Memorial Carillon. The campanile is widely seen as one of the major symbols of Iowa State University. It is featured prominently on the university's official ring and the university's mace, and is also the subject of the university's alma mater ("The Bells of Iowa State").

The Iowa State University campus contains over 160 buildings, several of which are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Iowa State University's campus, specifically its Central Campus, has been recognized as one of the nation's most beautiful and was listed as a "medallion site" by the American Society of Landscape Architects in 1999.

Morrill Hall, on the campus of Iowa State University, is a historic building that now houses the Christian Petersen Art Museum. It was named for Justin Smith Morrill, who created the Morrill Land-Grant Colleges Act. Construction was completed in 1891 with less than $30,000. Morrill Hall was originally constructed to fill the capacity of a library, museum, and chapel. These original uses are engraved in the exterior stonework on the east side. It was vacated starting in 1996 when it was determined unsafe. Also in 1996, Morrill Hall was listed on the National Register of Historic Places. In 2005, $9 million was raised to renovate the building and convert it into a museum. Morrill Hall has reopened as of March 2007, including the new Christian Petersen Art Museum. The building has 27,172 square feet. Chimneys at the four corners are designed to provide draft for natural ventilation, unlike most chimneys (which exhaust products of burning).: 6 

Iowa State University of Science and Technology (Iowa State University, Iowa State, or ISU) is a public land-grant research university in Ames, Iowa. Founded in 1858 as the Iowa Agricultural College and Model Farm, Iowa State became one of the nation's first designated land-grant institutions when the Iowa Legislature accepted the provisions of the 1862 Morrill Act on September 11, 1862, making Iowa the first state in the nation to do so. On July 4, 1959, the college was officially renamed Iowa State University of Science and Technology.Iowa State is the largest university in the State of Iowa by total enrollment. The university's academic offerings are administered through eight colleges, including the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, the College of Veterinary Medicine, the College of Engineering, the Graduate College, the College of Liberal Arts & Sciences, the College of Design, Debbie and Jerry Ivy College of Business, and the College of Human Sciences. The university is home to the Ames Laboratory, one of ten national U.S. Department of Energy Office of Science research laboratories, the Biorenewables Research Laboratory, the Plant Sciences Institute, and various other research institutes. Iowa State University's athletic teams, the Cyclones, compete in Division I of the NCAA and are a founding member of the Big 12.

Delta Upsilon Chapter House is a historic building located in Ames, Iowa, United States. It is considered one of the more imposing architectural examples among fraternity chapter houses at Iowa State University.It was designed by Des Moines architect Alexander M. Linn, who joined Delta Upsilon at what was then called Iowa State College. The fraternity's chapter house was on Hyland Avenue at that time. Completed in 1930, the 2½-story, French Renaissance-style building features brick and half-timbering wall surfaces, and a complex roof system that includes steep pitches and polychrome slate. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2010.

The Colonials Club House, also known as the Beta Deuteron Charge House of Theta Delta Chi, is a historic building located in Ames, Iowa, United States. The significance of this building is its role in the development of the city's Fourth Ward. Prior to its construction in 1910, off campus student housing was clustered on the west side of the Iowa State College (now Iowa State University campus. This building opened up the southeast side of the campus, and it became the preferred location for new fraternity and sorority residences. It was also a change in how those residences were designed. Prior fraternity and sorority houses in Ames were frame, vernacular, single-family dwellings. Designed by the Des Moines architectural firm of Proudfoot & Bird, this 2½-brick structure features the Colonial Revival style, which became one of the prominent styles for fraternity and sorority houses associated with the university.The original main block of the building was built for a local fraternity “The Colonials” (or the “Colonial Club”). In 1920 they became a local chapter of the national fraternity Theta Delta Chi, and the building was expanded. Another addition was constructed in 1966. It was designed by the Des Moines architectural firm of Woodburn & O’Neil. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2012.

The Enrollment Services Center is a building at Iowa State University in Ames, Iowa. It houses Offices in Enrollment Services: Admissions, Orientation, Records and registration. In 1978, the building was placed on the National Register of Historic places.

Ames National Laboratory, formerly Ames Laboratory, is a United States Department of Energy national laboratory located in Ames, Iowa, and affiliated with Iowa State University. It is a top-level national laboratory for research on national security, energy, and the environment. The laboratory conducts research into areas of national concern, including the synthesis and study of new materials, energy resources, high-speed computer design, and environmental cleanup and restoration. It is located on the campus of Iowa State University. In January 2013 the Department of Energy announced the establishment of the Critical Materials Institute (CMI) at Ames Laboratory, with a mission to develop solutions to the domestic shortages of rare-earth metals and other materials critical to US energy security.

Iowa Beta Chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon is a historic building in Ames, Iowa, United States. It is a large four-story brick structure that was built in 1931 for the Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity at Iowa State College (now Iowa State University). It was designed by Des Moines architect Amos B. Emery. It is the only Tudor Revival style building designed by Emory, and only one of two fraternity houses that he designed. The building features ornamental half-timbering and stucco veneered walls, a steeply pitched roof with two separate cross-gabled sections, and a two-story wing that is oriented diagonally from the main body of the house. Three of the four-floors are above grade and one is exposed on the back side via the sloping lot. The Iowa Beta chapter of Sigma Phi Epsilon was chartered on April 20, 1916. It was the fraternity's fortieth local chapter. During World War II, part of the building was rented to female students as many male students left to join the military. A fire damaged the third floor in 1943. In 1952, the kitchen and the house mother's quarters were expanded. Journalist Robert L. Bartley resided here until his graduation from Iowa State in 1959. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2014.
