The River Eden is a tributary of the River Medway in south east England. It rises at the foot of the North Downs escarpment near Titsey in Surrey and runs initially southwards through Oxted before turning eastwards to enter Kent. After flowing through Edenbridge and passing Hever Castle, the Eden meets the Medway at Penshurst.The name 'Eden' is a back-formation from Edenbridge, (Eadhelmsbrigge (Eadhelm's Bridge) in Old English).

St John the Baptist Church at Penshurst, Kent is a Grade I listed Anglican parish church in the Diocese of Rochester in England. Those buried or commemorated here include Knights, Earls, Viscounts, a Viceroy of India, a Governor-General of Australia, a Private Secretary to two Kings, two Field Marshals and two winners of the Victoria Cross. Through its courtiers, soldiers, statesmen, politicians or priests whose lives appear on memorials or through its changing architecture, brasses, carvings, effigies and windows, the church helps tell a country's story through the eyes of single village.

Penshurst Place is a historic building near Penshurst, Kent, 32 miles (51 km) south east of London, England. It is the ancestral home of the Sidney family, and was the birthplace of the great Elizabethan poet, courtier and soldier, Sir Philip Sidney. The original medieval house is one of the most complete surviving examples of 14th-century domestic architecture in England. Part of the house and its gardens are open for public viewing. Many TV shows and movies have been filmed at Penshurst.

Penshurst is a historic village and civil parish located in a valley upon the northern slopes of the Kentish Weald, at the confluence of the River Medway and the River Eden, within the Sevenoaks district of Kent, England. The village is situated between the market town of Tonbridge and the spa town of Royal Tunbridge Wells, some 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Sevenoaks. Penshurst and its neighbouring village, Fordcombe, recorded a combined population of some 1,628 at the 2011 Census.The majority of the parish falls within the High Weald Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, and the village is itself a conservation zone, with controls on the landscape ensuring the protection of its woodland and fields. There are several listed buildings in the village. The village is the home of two historic estates. Penshurst Place, formerly owned by King Henry VIII, sits at the centre of the village in the valley, while Swaylands is situated at the top of Rogues Hill on the outskirts of the village.

Penshurst Park Cricket Ground, also known as the Earl of Leicester's Park, is a cricket ground at Penshurst in Kent. It is one of the oldest cricket venues in England. Part of the Penshurst Place estate, it hosted its first recorded match in 1724.

Poundsbridge Manor, nicknamed "The Picture House", is an oak timber-framed house built in 1593 by John and Brian Durtnall for their father William, Rector of Penshurst from 1563 to 1596. Originally, it was called "Durtnolls" and it has an inscription "1593 WD ETA 69". WD are the initials of William Durtnell and the letter D, looking like an inverted Q, is the Gothic form of the letter. ETA 69 (ETA is a mistake for "aet", aetatis suae) means he was 69 years old when the house was finished. In 1678 it was owned by an Edmond Woodgate and he left it to his nephew Thomas Woodgate, a yeoman of Farningham, who left it to his wife. Later, it was divided in two and one part became a tavern.It was illustrated by Samuel Prout, was also illustrated in a book of 1810 in a drawing by Paul Amsinck, engraved by Letitia Byrne and by an F. Grant in 1906 (owned by Tunbridge Wells Museum and Art Gallery).In 1906 it was described as "Pounds Bridge" inn and being "on a secluded road between Speldhurst and Penshurst, in Kent". It is now a Grade II listed building. In the Second World War, the house was hit by a stray bomb and the extensive rebuilding that was required was again done by Durtnell's.

Speldhurst is a village and civil parish in the borough of Tunbridge Wells in Kent, England. The parish is to the west of Tunbridge Wells: the village is 3 miles (5 km) west of the town. Speldhurst has a primary school, a parish church, a general store with post office, a pub, and a small business park. There is a residential care home for the elderly, Birchwood House, which is a former manor house with a rich history. Speldhurst football team plays on the local recreation ground, the pitch is considered one of the best in the surrounding area.

Fordcombe is a village within the civil parish of Penshurst in the Sevenoaks district of Kent, England. The village is located on the northern slopes of the Weald, five miles (8 km) west of Royal Tunbridge Wells. The church, part of a united benefice with Penshurst, Chiddingstone and Chiddingstone Causeway, is dedicated to St Peter. Several members of the Hardinge family are buried in the churchyard: Henry Hardinge, 1st Viscount Hardinge (1785–1856), British Army Field Marshal, Governor-General of India Charles Hardinge, 2nd Viscount Hardinge (1822–1894), British politician Charles Hardinge, 1st Baron Hardinge of Penshurst (1858–1944), British diplomat and statesman, Viceroy of India Alexander Hardinge, 2nd Baron Hardinge of Penshurst (1894–1960), British Army officer and courtier Sir Arthur Edward Hardinge (1828–1892), British Army general, Governor of Gibraltar Sir Arthur Henry Hardinge (1859–1933), British diplomatThe Chafford Arms pub is at the heart of the village.

Penshurst Airfield was an airfield in operation between 1916–36 and 1940–46. Initially a military airfield, after the First World War it was used as an alternate destination to Croydon Airport, with some civil flying taking place. The airfield closed following the crash of a Flying Flea at an air display in 1936, and was converted to a polo ground. It re-opened during the Second World War as an Emergency Landing Ground, RAF Penshurst. As well as serving in this role, it was mainly used by air observation post (AOP) squadrons of the Royal Air Force. The airfield finally closed in May 1946.

St Luke's is a Grade II* listed Church of England church in Chiddingstone Causeway, Kent. It was built in 1897–1898 to a design by John Francis Bentley in a loosely Decorated Gothic Revival style, replacing a tin tabernacle (erected circa 1873).According to Pevsner the church was financed by the Hill family and John Singer Sargent recommended Bentley to him. It was the only Protestant church designed by Bentley.Since 2019 the church is part of the High Weald Churches benefice of Penshurst, Chiddingstone, Fordcombe and Chiddingstone Causeway. The altar window is the work of Wilfrid de Glehn.

Chiddingstone Causeway is a village 4 miles (6 km) west of Tonbridge in Kent, England. It is within the Sevenoaks local government district. It is in the civil parish of Chiddingstone. The village is served by Penshurst Station on the Redhill to Tonbridge Line with trains running hourly between London Victoria and Tonbridge via East Croydon. Connections for Gatwick Airport can be made from this service by changing at Redhill. Penshurst Airfield, which was in operation from 1916 to 1936, and again from 1940 to 1946 as RAF Penshurst, was within ¼ mile (400 m) of the station. The village is also served by the 231 and 233 bus routes linking Lingfield, Edenbridge, and Tunbridge Wells via Bidborough The current service contract is run by Metrobus and there is no Sunday or Bank Holiday service.In the centre of the village is 'The Little Brown Jug' public house. St. Luke's church is a Church of England church on the Tonbridge Road, just over a hundred metres east of the pub. There is a war memorial outside St. Luke's church.
