Baden is a town near Bremen, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is known to Africanists and Phoneticians as the place where Diedrich Hermann Westermann was born and died. It is a borough of the town of Achim. Baden is on the train line from Hanover to Verden to Bremen.Baden's 1000th anniversary was celebrated in 2013.

Thedinghausen is a municipality in the district of Verden, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated on the left bank of the Weser, approx. 15 km west of Verden, and 20 km southeast of Bremen. Thedinghausen is also the seat of the Samtgemeinde ("collective municipality") Thedinghausen.

The Etelsen Tierpark was a small zoo in the castle park of in Etelsen, Langwedel, Verden, Niedersachsen, Germany. The Zoo and a restaurant was founded in 1959 on the 11 hectares (27.2 acres) park. The first lions were housed in the Mausoleum. At least 4 elephants were kept in the Zoo, and one died there. The elephants were walked through Etelsen for delivery in the Zoo.The Zoo was closed in 1965.

Oyten (Low German: Eiten) is a municipality in the district of Verden, in Lower Saxony, Germany. It is situated approximately 20 km northwest of Verden, and 15 km east of Bremen. Oyten belonged to the Prince-Archbishopric of Bremen, established in 1180. In 1648 the Prince-Archbishopric was transformed into the Duchy of Bremen, which was first ruled in personal union by the Swedish Crown - interrupted by a Danish occupation (1712–1715) - and from 1715 on by the Hanoverian Crown. In 1807 the ephemeric Kingdom of Westphalia annexed the Duchy, before France annexed it in 1810. In 1813 the Duchy was restored to the Electorate of Hanover, which - after its upgrade to the Kingdom of Hanover in 1814 - incorporated the Duchy in a real union and the Ducal territory, including Oyten, became part of the new Stade Region, established in 1823.

Bassen is a district and a village in the municipality Oyten in Lower Saxony. The place is about 20 km east of the city center of Bremen and about 100 km southwest of Hamburg. In the northern area the Wümme flows through Bassen. It has 3,318 inhabitants (2016).
