Stars Park was a baseball park in St. Louis, Missouri, at the southeast corner of Compton and Laclede Avenues. Contemporary city directories give the address as 130 South Compton Avenue. The stadium was one of the few ballparks purposely built for a Negro league team. The ground was home to the St. Louis Stars of the Negro National League from 1922 to 1931. It had a capacity of 10,000. The stadium hosted various postseason games for the Stars: It hosted Games 1-3 of the 1925 Negro National League Championship Series and Games 5-9 of the 1928 Negro National League Championship Series and Games 1-4 of the 1930 Negro National League Championship Series.A photograph of the park was unearthed in 2016, in the collection of the Missouri Historical Society; the park was previously thought to have no surviving photographs.The ballpark site is now occupied by the Harris–Stowe State University baseball field. The field includes a monument referencing Stars Park.

The St. Louis Stars, originally the St. Louis Giants, were a Negro league baseball team that competed independently from as early as 1906 to 1919, and then joined the Negro National League (NNL) for the duration of their existence. After the 1921 season, the Giants were sold by African-American promoter Charlie Mills to Dick Kent and Dr. Sam Sheppard, who built a new park and renamed the club the Stars. As the Stars, they eventually built one of the great dynasties in Negro league history, winning three pennants in four years from 1928 to 1931.

The Billiken Sports Center is a baseball venue in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. It is home to the Saint Louis Billikens baseball team of the NCAA Division I Atlantic 10 Conference. The facility also includes the softball venue used since 2000 by the Billiken softball program. From 1990–1994, the facility was also home to Saint Louis' soccer programs. The baseball facility, built in 1991 and first used in 1992, has a capacity of 500 spectators.

Midtown is a neighborhood in St. Louis, Missouri. It is located 3 miles (4.8 km) west of the city riverfront at the intersection of Grand and Lindell Boulevards. It is home to the campus of Saint Louis University and the Grand Center Arts District.

Hermann Stadium, or fully, Robert R. Hermann Stadium is located in Midtown St. Louis, Missouri, on the campus of Saint Louis University. The first game played was August 21, 1999. This is where both the Billiken men's and women's soccer teams play. Also, several other events take place here, such as pep rallies and the University's Relay For Life. The seating capacity of the stadium is 6,050. The stadium is named after Bob Hermann. The Billikens play on a regulation 120x75-yard soccer pitch.

LaClede Town was a mixed-income, federally funded housing project in St. Louis, Missouri. Located near St. Louis University, it opened in 1964. It incorporated a mix of housing types and had spaces dedicated to social interaction and artistic production. It was an intentionally diverse community with respect to residents' income and race/ethnicity. This experimental urban development was "cool, hip, cheap and populated by people committed to making integration work." It became an incubator for new music, dance, poetry and other arts, especially jazz. Loyal former residents began organizing reunions in 1997.Eventually, LaClede Town became run down, and the complex was demolished in the late 1980s. Some of the Grand Forest Apartments, a part of LaClede town, still exist as student housing for St. Louis University. Berea Presbyterian Church, which was central to the community and predated the LaClede Town development, still stands. However, it has been redesigned for commercial use.

Harris–Stowe State University (HSSU) is a historically black public university in St. Louis, Missouri. The university offers 50 majors, minors, and certificate programs in education, business, and arts & sciences. It is a member-school of the Thurgood Marshall College Fund. It is immediately east of the Saint Louis University campus. The school enrolled 1,630 students in 2019.

The Kranzberg Arts Foundation or Kranzberg Arts Foundation is a non-profit foundation dedicated to promoting arts, music, orchestra, jazz, theater, and culture in St. Louis, Missouri, United States. The Kranzberg Arts Foundation is responsible for the creation and growth of the Midtown St. Louis Neighborhood which includes the Grand Center Arts District.The Kranzberg Arts Foundation supports 43 organizations.

The Cadillac Automobile Company Building, at 3224 Locust St. in St. Louis, Missouri, was built in 1919. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2005.It was designed by Detroit, Michigan architect William A. Balsh. It is a four-story tile and concrete-framed building with basement, with curtain wall construction. It has a parapeted flat roof. It has "the symmetry, colossal portico and entablature that characterize Neoclassical commercial buildings, but its use of Second Egyptian Revival stylistic details, especially the stylized column capitals, draws attention to both of its monolithic street elevations."It was an auto distributorship building.

Pappy's Smokehouse (often referred to as simply Pappy’s) is a barbecue restaurant located in St. Louis, Missouri United States.It was started in 2008 by Mike Emerson, who previously worked at another barbecue restaurant called Super Smokers. The restaurant was named after Emerson’s late brother, Jim.Pappy’s sells Memphis-style ribs, and ribs are barbecued without sauce. The ribs are dry-rubbed and cooked over applewood and cherrywood for four hours; customers can add a variety of barbecue sauces in squeeze bottles when they eat. The restaurant sells tons of ribs daily. It is noted to have long lines and the restaurant closes when the ribs run out.The restaurant has received widespread media attention. The Food Network ranked it as #1 in the best barbecue ribs in America. The ribs have been showcased on Steve Harvey in 2017. TripAdvisor ranked it as #10 as top barbecue restaurants in America in 2015. It is listed under Zagat’s “50 States, 50 Favorite Restaurants” in 2017. After being showcased on Man v. Food, the restaurant created a dish called “The Adam Bomb”.Numerous celebrities have visited the restaurant, including Jimmy Kimmel, Willie Nelson, and Flavor Flav.A second location is expected to open in St. Peters, Missouri.

Handlan's Park is a former baseball ground located in St. Louis, Missouri. The ground was home to the St. Louis Terriers of the Federal League in 1914 and 1915. After the Federal League folded, it was used as the St. Louis University Athletic Field, and was also known as High School Field in the 1920s. During that period, the local Sumner High School and Lincoln University baseball clubs held an annual Decoration Day contest there. The St. Louis Giants of the Negro National League played some games there in 1920 and 1921, although that club had its own park on North Broadway.Surrounded by Grand Avenue on the west, Laclede Avenue on the north, Theresa Avenue to the east, and Clark Avenue to the south, the space used for the park was owned by Alexander H. Handlan. The head of an international railway supply house, Handlan-Buck Manufacturing, Handlan operated a private park at the site aptly named Handlan's Park. The seating capacity of 15,000 comprised the grandstand at the southeast corner of Laclede and Grand, the pavilion situated near Grand and Clark, and bleachers stretching behind center field between two rows of houses, which were barricaded by tall wooden fences. Home plate was centered in front of the grandstand at Grand and Laclede. Most sources give the playing field's dimensions as 325 feet (99 m) for left, 375 feet (114 m) for center and 300 feet (91 m) for right field.The St. Louis Chapter of the Society for American Baseball Research (SABR) placed a marker at the site of Handlan's Park, now on the campus of Saint Louis University, on October 17, 2007.
